Obama did a nice job with the speech. Now it's all about where we go from here. I found myself crying hard for awhile there, thinking of how far the country has come. And for some reason, I was suddenly thinking of my long-gone husband - how he would have loved this moment. And my Dad - who himself never felt comfortable or accepted in America - would not recognize his adopted country, if he could be here today. I can picture him, happy and astounded by this election, trying to hide that he cared, but not succeeding. Yeah, that was the one sad bit...my dad would have been so happy. Going to get dressed and run out for an actual newspaper. Hey, Rachael? Way after midnight there were a couple thousand people peacefully assembled at Pike and Broadway, smiling and chanting Yes We Can and singing and waving American flags. On Capitol Hill. On freaking Capitol Hill!Julia, I never thought I'd see that!

Yeah, that was the one sad bit...my dad would have been so happy. Going to get dressed and run out for an actual newspaper. I stopped at the small corner store and picked up WSJ and USAToday. They were out of NYT (my guess is that maybe they only order 1 per day). But I passed a woman on my way out who was commented to the checker about her wounded her heart is today. I really am feeling some sympathy for those folks today. I've been on the losing side and it's not fun. Still, I'm hoping that in a few years she'll feel better about it. I think there is a much better chance of that than I got. Cause the longer Bush stayed in office the worst I felt about the Gore loss. We couldn't find a NYT ourselves just now, in four different places. Going to have to resort to the bookstore when it opens.

Nate Silver had some darned good stats. (Well, to be almost perfect McCain has to get NC). But he called the EV and the popular vote percentage. I have not tried to go back and check the state by state margins. It seemed to me that some of the states Obama won were by smaller margins than the polls suggested, but I haven't actually looked up any numbers.

Hey folks! We have a new place to have the post-election festivities! So, let's move this over there and I'll start a new OT thread for other issues/discussions shortly. This here is now locked.
