So....what do you think is up with the bartender, Sam? I have my theories. Werewolf. He barks in his sleep, and he was seen running through the woods early one morning - naked.
The scene that got me thinking 'werewolf' was when he was rolling on the bed of the woman (that had been his gf at one time) that had been murdered. Very like a dog rolling in the grass in the scent of something dead.
Plus, he's a bit shaggy. Sketchy impression of the characters: (I need to learn all their names.) Bill - not so cute, but growing on me. Sookie - a bit naive and all about the sex. Love her 'gift'. Nice twist. Grandmother - love her. Sookie's brother - a real piece of work, although I think he has a good side. Sookie's brother's new gf - a real piece of work, but not so good. The cook - what's his name? Lafayette? He's funny. He is unique. His cousin - she is heading for a breakdown. The whole voo-doo thing is interesting. That opossum exorcism gave me the heebiejeebies. I like the minor characters - the cops. Sookie's friend's kids. The diner's clientele. The vampires they've introduced so far have not been just one-note. They each have had distinct personas. The way the vampires 'melt' when they burn - cool. The whole 'silver' aversion (fits in with the werewolf lore). Rene and his Cajun accent. His gf - the red-headed friend of Sookie - is spunky. Anyway, as Nick said, the show is developing slowly the way it should, and that's why it is getting better all the time.

I love Anna Paquin (Sookie too, but it's mostly because Anna Paquin's playing her). I love Adele. I like Bill; he's better when he doesn't talk like he's in a romance novel. Jason is dumber than dirt.

Agree with you that: Sam is a lycanthrope. Really sorry: Sookie's grandmother got killed. I like Lois Smith. Jan has a theory about whodunit. Not going to post that just yet.

That's an insult to dirt. ;D That's true. Jason is dumber than...? a bag of hammers? a box of rocks? Couldn't pour piss out of a boot with instructions on the heel? He's definitely in over his head with Little Ms. Vampire Hunter from Storrs.

Plus, he's a bit shaggy. Agreed. Feel the same about Bill and Rene and Lafayette. Sookie is growing on my and I adored Grandmama. I think the cops are basically good guys and her brother has issues. I like Tara, but I wish she'd find her demon and exorcise it like the voodoo priestess said. Her mother is grating on my very last nerve. I don't know who Rene is. Or, if I do, I can't visualize him.

Further, I think that Bill knows what Sam is, but hasn't told Sookie yet. (Well, I haven't watched the most recent ep yet, so he may have shared that by now).
Anna Paquin and the actor who plays Bill are dating in real life. Puts an interesting spin on some of their scenes.

Good to see him. But I feel bad for his character. First Lafayette uses him, and now Jason and his scary girlfriend. Tara went to get an exorcism--my guess is that it won't change much.

Rene is the Cajun boyfriend of the redheaded friend and co-worker of Sookie. He has the neatest accent. He looked like he was going to be a baddie, but he's turning out to be one of the good guys. So it seems, anyway.

She calls him 'Dean' - and his real name is 'Sam'? A Supernatural shoutout, do you suppose? Next week looks rockin'. They are getting into the down and dirty now. I just wish there was a bit more comedy relief. It is dark, dark, dark.
