BUFFY: New semester, new classes. Whole new vistas of knowledge to be confused and intimidated by.
TARA: I think this one's gonna be kind of fun. Greek Art's gonna touch on so many things -- mythology, history, philosophy...
BUFFY: The professor spit too much when he talked. It was like being at Sea World. The first five rows will get wet.
TARA: That was just, you know, um, enthusiasm.
BUFFY: It seemed very much like saliva.
TARA: We'll sit farther back next time This was an historic political year, no doubt about it. The next four years will be just as historically significant so, we're going to continue our not-so-experimental idea of having a place to talk about everything and anything you want.
Welcome to the Open Topic Discussion- Part 4! So, go to it. All are welcome to talk here about pretty much whatever you want. Religion, politics, philosophy... you name it!
But, before we go any further, here's the deal:While we have relaxed the rules about religion and politics only in this forum, we're still adhering to the "no bashing" rules. There's a little black button up above if you need a refresher on those.
Please keep any disagreements potentially created here from carrying over to the other threads. This forum may be suspended if we feel it becomes detrimental to the harmony of the S'cubies.
Technopagans do reserve the right to reprimand, apply strikes and modify/delete posts if posters don't take the rules seriously.
With that said, we'd also like to address the fact that techs will probably frequently be involved in the discourse. While they will strive to adhere to the rules themselves, it is quite possible that, at some point, the regular members may feel they have stepped out of bounds. If you feel a board admin is out of line, please report this to the other Techs and/or your CoW members. And that's pretty much it! Follow those guidelines and we should all be good. Oh, and if you don't wanna get wet, you might want to sit a bit to the back. Vlad

So, Yoshi and Dick Cheney. ;D Yoshi was totally opposed to the idea of asking him from the start; whenever the topic came up, the first words out of Yoshi's mouth would invariably be "Dick fuckin' Cheney. Can't even fuckin' shoot straight, the fucker." As soon as we learned that Cheney actually said yes, Yoshi began planning what illness he'll have so he doesn't have to go to the event. I suspect we're in for a very interesting few months now. ;D

Make lots of money for the museum off the , and leave it at that.

Julia, eek Weren't you just saying that some town in Vermont had put out a warrant for Cheney and Bush? Guess it's not so unlikely that Cheney go near there after all, heh. ETA: Oh, it's going to be in NYC. Never mind then. I'd feel incredibly weird if I had to attend an event like that and it would take a lot of energy for me to make it through respectfully. I'm having fun imagining what Lorelai and Rory would say if they had to attend though.

I assume you have to help plan this thing . . . with a boss calling your guest of honor "Dick fuckin' Cheney" and planning to be ill . . . yep. An interesting few months ahead. If I know you, you will find ways to amuse yourself with this.

Dick Cheney is far from my favorite guy, but I think it would be interesting and exciting to meet him. I mean - say what you will - the guy has had an interesting life, and it's not like anyone would be asking me to marry him. One evening to help raise some funds? All I have to do is listen to a Cheney fan sing his praises, and maybe a speech from him? And I may have a chance to meet him and talk to him? Sure. I would do it, no problem. To me, doing so doesn't imply that I, personally, think a lot of Dick Cheney. It just means that I think a lot of my cause, and that I think a guy whose been in those sorts of "halls of power" would no doubt be interesting to meet and talk to. I'd have my limits here - this kind of reasoning wouldn't work for me if say, Adolf Hitler was the guest of honor, but Cheney I could manage.
