Nice review, Erin! You gave the ep a lot more depth than I saw when I originally watched it. I believe this was my least favorite of the season. Interesting stuff about the eyes and what we perceive we see. You're right--the premise of this episode had so much promise, I really wish they could have followed through better. Ah well, even the weakest episodes of a Joss show has its great moments. Thanks for all your hard work on your reviews! I need to go back and comment on your others.

And yeah, it just felt a bit hollow. Apparently, Joss felt the same way; I just read something about that. Now that I've sorted a few things about my thesis, I'm hoping to get to my "Man in the Street" review, which should be fun!

Erin! Excellent thoughts! I totally hadn't put together the whole theme of assumptions, misperceptions. (Which Esther doesn't "see" and thus can "see thru", perhaps?)
Also? I completely agree with your comment about the most stunning moment at the end, with Laurence Dominic;
I particularly like that this event, where Dom tries to kill Echo, is not just a one-time thing, that it is mentioned several times in later eps.

And it takes on extra resonance when we find out who he really is! Of course, Joss always picks continuity for the win. Thanks so much for your thoughts and compliments! I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to respond; I just noticed you'd posted.
