wheehee! Domestic-y Kara and Roslin losing everything before she lost everything!
What was the one-hour mission The Old Man was kvetching about?
and we STILL don't know Six's Caprica name.
Anyways. Here we go.
Daddy packing up his quarters. and he's moving to the basestar.
"You will be its author" oh that's so not good.
and we flashback again!
And Gaius had brought home another floozy. and has found his previous floozy still in residence.
She's not letting you go that easily. She needs you so she can blow up all twelve colonies.
Well, good way for Daddy Baltar to spend his last few weeks of life.
And Gaius sees nothing, NOTHING about this that makes him feel at all askance. as to why she'd do this.
Maybe he figgers she's just nicer than he is.
Math and music. huh. Kara driving herself batshit.
Well, at least Tyrol knows that he's an idiot. and he continues to prove it.
They start OUT the same, like twins. the pressures of life change things.
WHAT THE HELL WAS oh. The other cylons. Looked like a closeup from House M.D. for a minute.
Yay, creepy Simon doctor.

packing up the memorial wall.
"Does everything have to be reduced to your personal feelings about Kara Thrace?"
Duh! Have you MET Lee Adama?
"I don't know what I am" For the first time, Tigh provides a good role model. You are who you choose to be.
I am so full of "aw!" at that "You're my daughter" ....
Nice flashback transition.
This would be so much more awesome if we all had any idea how the hell one played pyramid....
"For the end of Kara Thrace" ooh, spooky!

"new life requires a new way of thinking"
He wants to be the Senator from Crazytown.
And yay, President Adama!
"Haven't passed Gaius Baltar's test"
"I wouldn't trust me either"
So his flashback was of a pigeon attack while he was smashed.
Holy crap. Rescue mission! Doesn't he know it's the penultimate episode?!?
How many people are going on this.... crewmen incarcerated. How many are going on this suicide mission?
Sharon, save the crippling depression for after you all die on this fool's errand!

Now I want sushi. Wonder what planet that's traditional on.
"National" shouldn't that be "planetwide"? Eh. When the planet is your nation...
THAT is a shirtload of extras/volunteers.
Holy cats, they are taking the Galactica herself? Hopefully with enough raptors to.. nope, "one-way trip"
Whee! everyone choosing sides for glorious plot-based suicide!
And he doesn't do it. (Baltar)
Racetrack and Skulls out of jail!
Ah. Black hole accretion disk.
Woohoo! Two-hour suicide mission next week!

I think I am going to cry.
The volunteer side is about a third or so of the total.

Not sure what the purpose of the flashbacks was, especially at this point of the story.
I mean, I get that flashbacks help flesh out characters, etc but 10 pages from the end of the book?
Or maybe we are supposed to see that they are NOW, exactly as they they were THEN, and essentially, always.
Was the point that people don't change, or that they do? Or something else?

I quite enjoyed the flashbacks. For me, they kind of served as a refreshing breather from all the building doom and gloom. And it was nice and interesting to see what kind of people they were before the devastation. Also, as I said to Sara last night, it made me really excited to see the prequel series, Caprica. And, as Sara then mentioned, this was probably at least a part of their intentions in airing those scenes.

Flashback to Caprica City . . . Adama backstory? What are they making him do? Oh! Everyone backstory maybe? Baltar, livin' the lush life with Six. Laura, all happy and fresh looking with her sisters. Kara, cookin' for who? For Lee? Oh! Meeting him for the first time, meeting the brother of her boyfriend . . . wow! Man, they all look so young and fresh! "I hold my own." "I'm sure you do." Although, I've always loved "that's too bad" as the perfect snarky come back to that line . . . Ha! Baltar's old man. Ha! Driving off the nurses. Ah, the whole class thing again, his "low" beginnings and so on. OMG! Just when I was thinking about how sad that Roslin lost her family in the nuke, we learn that no, they were all killed before. Damn! Interesting that they flashed so far back, this isn't "just before the planet was bombed" stuf. It's . . . maybe it's showing all the paths that led them to where they are now? Breaking up the Galactica.

Packing up and moving on. Moving boxes - ha! Although, getting everyone off and then breaking up the ship is giving everyone a purpose, probably the most they've had since they found the nuked Earth . . . Gaius has the most political power in the fleet? I think I may be in agreement with head!Six. The end times are approaching. Aaaaaaaand flashback again. Ooooh, Six was being all stalker on his ass. ;D Ah, and she's got the ultimate bribe. Finding daddy a place that's a very tony addresss. A few simple things to make him happy. Nice! Go, Starbuck, working the music and math. Did Chief turn himself in? "I did what I did because I'm an idiot." "They're all the same because we made them the same." But really, they're not. Especially eights. Lots of differences within some basic patterns. Hera! Poor sad hungy scared Hera. "She's a half human, half machine, object of curiosity that holds the key to our continued existance somewhere in her genetic code. So let's get a tube in her and get her ready." Well. Don't hold back Cavil, tell us what you really think.

Aw, now they're getting me all mushy feeling again. Lots of the memorial wall still up, because no one is left who remembers those people. Damn. A picture of Hera. Is this the moment? When he knows they have to get her back? You go, Lee! Rip Gaius a new one! And really, dude, are you surprised that no one wants to listen to you seriously when you've continually shown yourself to be a shallow self-involved slickster? Keep groping, Kara. There's some meaning in there somewhere. "I don't know what I am." "I know what you are. You're my daughter." Damn! Tear my heart out, will ya? And then, it's time to plug Sam in. Are we sure that's such a good idea? Oooooooooooooh, Anders flashback!! In a tub!! Nekkid!!!! **is very very happy** Perfection . . . oh yes, perfection . . . Hmmmm. Mathmatics, angles and curves . . . slip the surly bonds of Earth and touch the face of perfection (nice sort of quotage, there). Find the perfect world for the end of Kara Thrace. End of line. (This is excellently done, really. He sounds just like the other navigation hybrid, and yet has his own sub-meanings.)

Get to the frakking point. You've got five minutes. Speak. **get happy shiver over Lee being all . . . dominant and toppy** Oh, the little gesture of hand over heart, the poetical talk about Galactica, the "all I'm asking is that my people have a voice" and "you know it's the right thing to do". Baltar, you can sling shit with the best of them! ;D **sits back to see if Lee finally snaps and just hauls off and slugs him** "I wouldn't trust me either." Well put. Drunken Lee versus the pigeon. This will not end well. (Also? Another image from the montage at the start, yes? Like Laura's water?) Ooooh! Red tape line of doom!! Yay! Yes, they're going after Hera! I love seeing all the scenes of the news spreading. Nice way to hear each person's reaction or way of thinking about the idea, rather than just a speech by Adama. "She's sliced and diced already." "Everything's going to be alright." They are really the ultimate examples of "half empty / half full" personalities, aren't they?
