Urban legend documentary / news thingee! Nice intro.
The story grows more intricet and more divisive. Oooooh, coincidental language? Joss wrote this one, so I'm thinking not so coincidental.
"A mindless whore. Just your type." Damn. It this guy trying to get smacked down?
What? Screaming and . . . Victor wants to pretend. Pretend they're married.
The dolls don't have sex drives - that's "part of the deal". If Victor's off program - like Alpha . . . hmmmmmm.
And here's a mention of the attic again. Sierra cries when they're asleep. I'm getting a not good feeling about this. I think, not Victor. I'm thinking someone else - someone in charge at the house, maybe?
I like this woman at the Bureau who's helping him. She's less obsessed than him, but just as interested in making sure if something is wrong that they find out and fix it.
"Rick?" "Dick." "I thought his name was Rick." "Oh, it is." Oh, snap! ;D
So, what's the story he's hired her for? And holy crap! He actually found her, finds the person he's been looking for.
That? I was not expecting.

Heeee! Eliza, with the repeated "Porn? Did you do porn!" Funny!!! "You just want to play house?" "I think your fantasy, is about my Rebecca." Oh, my. This is, like getting right to the heart of things, isn't it? This replacement "watcher" for Victor? "They're all broken." Blah-hoo and Bloogle - just one step behind. Hee! "Eat it, F-Bitch-I." Ha!! So, he's replacing his dead wife. Damn. Creating the moment he never had with her - finally able to do something for her, buying her the house after she did everything for him. And he does it every year on the anniversary. "And then you sleep with her." "Well, it is a fantasy." Internet establishment. "They'll throw the Kindle at you." Ha! "Go! Go live in your real world." Very very interesting connections here.

Ah, Boyd suspects like I do. When he said "they're all broken" does that mean he realized that Victor was too, and so, he's probably not the one hurting Sienna. Isolate Victor and his handler. Aha! I did something bad. What did you do? Nobody will tell me. So interesting how we get to compare the dolls with the non-wiped people. How they act, how they react, or usually don't react. **shirtless . . . Tahmoh . . . . ** Ahem. "Don't think about her and kiss me." Oh, my. Parallel the client much? Aha!! It wasn't the nervous handler guy, it was that guy! That smarmy guy!! Ooooh, camera on the FBI guy. OMG, what are they gonna do!?! Loving the different opinions from the folks being interviewed for the documentary thing, by the way. Makes me think of all the wrangling and discussion people have been doing about the show, eh?

Ha! "That could be sweet for some guys." And she looks at him in a whole new light. It's oddly fascinating hearing him talk about how they build a personality to fit what they need. I mean, yes, creepy, and yet also fascinating. Wonder why you're not dead? Gonna erase me? Put me in the attic? You're disgusting! And he's right about how they're doing the same thing. Which makes them both horrible, yes? "We are in the business of using people. The question is, what is the best use for someone like you?" O.M.G. They want to use him . . . to attack the neighbor. Rape and kill her?! OMG!! This is a nice moment between these two. And she is standing in for the audience now, isn't she? Just stating straightforwardly that he should find out about hte dollhouse, because what they're doing is wrong. Oy. And now here's the plan. Send the icky guy to kill her, send Echo to kill him.

"You think it's not happening? You think they're not controlling you? Don't worry about it. Just sit back and wait for them to tell you what to buy." Holy Crap. This fight? Is like, damn! This is a fight. Wait a minute . . . she's telling him all about things . . . is this . . . . is this her programming? If so, by who?? If not, is there . . . is there some layer of her underneath that is doing this? Is she actually undercover or something?? "We have a person inside." "You're going about this the wrong way." Over 20 Dollhouses all over the world. Deals in fantasy, their business but not their purpose. There is a huge conspiracy!!! OMG!! OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!! Mellie is programmed too?!? "There are 3 flowers in a vase." Holy fuck. **is completely wrung out** Wow. I mean. Wow. "Imagine this technology exists. Imagine it being used. Now, imagine it being used . . . on you." And they get what they want, Ballard leaving the FBI. "I played a very bad hand very well." "I don't think they're as ignorant as they're supposed to be." Truer words never spoken, dude! Oh, what a perfect series of images! The "romantic" image of her pretending to be his wife and then, it's all sucked away again and then, the grr arrgg monster. The "sweet" fantasy that isn't very sweet, pulled away to reaveal, voila, a monster. Damn!!

Just.....awesome.
My jaw dropped twice and I'm drained.
Mark watched this one with me (he saw E1 and wasn't hooked) and loved it.
When DeWitt sent the smarmy guy to kill mellie, I was,'Oh well, so she's not a doll.' And then the trigger given over the phone (which DeWitt said was impossible a couple episodes ago). oy!
I need to rewatch because I missed stuff.

I need to rewatch because I missed stuff. Triggers (such as "Are you ready for your treatment?" and "Do you trust me?") can be given auditorily: They are just key phrases that trigger a sequence of programmed behaviors or responses. It's the wipe that Echo went through as Taffy that was supposed to be impossible. She wasn't just triggered or untriggered, or anything, but put back to the resting Doll state.

I've been suspecting Mellie as a Doll for a while now. When DeWitt sent Sierra's former handler out to kill her, after looking at the surveilance in her apartment, I was almost certain, for why would they have surveilance on her apartment unless she worked for them? They couldn't be certain that Ballard would fall for her unless they were working on it. The logical place to have surveilance on him was his apartment. Then I wavered for a minute, with DeWitt sending him to kill her, but the absolute contempt she held him in for raping her children (for that's what he was doing: I think she draws a strong distinction between the imprinted personalities and the resting childlike state of the Actives) made me think she was sending him out to die a horrible and poetic death. Which she confirmed later: "Not without its poetry" Now I wonder who the inside man is. Doc Saunders? Topher's prentice? Who?

It's the wipe that Echo went through as Taffy that was supposed to be impossible. She wasn't just triggered or untriggered, or anything, but put back to the resting Doll state. Got it. I missed the distinction between triggers and imprints/wipes. The internet is just bursting with Joss fans all squeeing and speculating and praying for good news in the ratings. I've read spec about every single character being the "inside man" (including Topher and DeWitt) but the most intriguing to me was that there is no inside man and the message was a plant from DeWitt, since its primary message was for Ballard to back off. If true she is playing a very deep game and is manipulating Ballard in multiple ways, primarily with Mellie (who spoilers knew was originally cast as November) but also now with Echo and information/disinformation. I'm thinking they want to push him into a corner so they can recruit (are they really all volunteers?) or force him into a doll contract. He has all the so many "innate" skills they can access through different imprints. Otherwise, why not have killed him outright?

Just.....awesome. My jaw dropped twice and I'm drained. Mark watched this one with me (he saw E1 and wasn't hooked) and loved it. I gotta believe that no one could have watched this ep and not been all jaw-droppy and hooked. I mean, whoa! Me too! Like when DeWitt was saying all this stuff about how "he's telling civilians" and so on. ! I know I have to go back and re-watch. Particularly to pay closer attention to who she says what to - might give me some clues about the different layers of knowledge in that place! Complex conspiracy!

Oooooh, good explanation! Also, though, I'm really gonna suspect anything they say now. I'm thinking they don't know as much about what they are doing as they think they do. Also? There is so much lying to each other within the Dollhouse! Who to trust? No one! ;D

And of course they successfully faked me out with the call, thinking it was the FBI guy, only no - Dollhouse trigger message! And I think you're right about DeWitt thinking protectively (but only in some ways, often a bit warped) about the Actives. I hadn't thought about the idea of her making such a distinction between them while implanted and them while in the house, all childlike and sort of blank-slate-y. That really makes sense! **nods a lot** His death served her needs well and she got to do it in a way that . . . fit how she felt also. I'm thinking Topher's prentice, but also it could be totally surprising and twisty, 'cuz this is Joss! So, hell, maybe it's DeWitt herself. Playing a double, triple, quadruple agent role? Or Boyd, maybe?

i don't know if anyone remembers me wondering a few episodes ago whether the fact that dewitt had unseen bosses meant that there were other dollhouses. i liked that it was confirmed in this episode. there seemed to be no reason, to me, that such technology that could net so much money and power/influence (through being able to connect to so many powerful and super-wealthy people) would be only confined to one establishment and/or city. this is the episode that eliza and others involved in the show kept saying was the one to wait for, yes? now i see why.
