Chapter 1 Discussion below
Poor prof. Burbage. Voldermort is one sick bastard. This book started off really dark and vivid in its discription of the darkness.
Voldermort showing no mercy on the Malfoys or Bellatrix for that matter. He made fun of them all, and they were his supporters. It really shows how much he feels everyone is beneath him.
Snape just sat there. I know there was nothing he could do, but either he is really evil (I was holding out for him to actually be good) Or he is one hell of a fantastic actor to be able to fool all the deatheaters and Voldermort.

Chapter 2 and 3 Discussion below
I never cared for Rita Skeeter's character. Which probably means she will be prominent in the book. LOL
Loved Big D coming through for Harry. All those years of torture and he finally came through and showed Harry the respect he deserved.
Plus he knew leaving Harry meant he may not be safe, but I feel he really was sincere in his thanks to Harry.

Chapter 4 discussion below
This was 19 pages of pure action bliss! The battle scene was fantastic. JKM really outdid herself with this chapter. The Seven Potter's Idea was fantastic, I am just worried about the result of the battle.
Such a great battle!
I was shocked at what happened to Hedwig.

Chapter 5 discussion below I am sad. That went from a great action chapter to a nerveracking chapter on who was the fallen warrior. M.E.M will be missed. He was powerful and funny and straight to the point. One hell of an auror. I for one thought the twins were not going to be hurt. I was shocked at what happened to George, but I absolutely loved his response to the situation. It was classic Fred and George. Plus it really showed the commitment the have to the order and Harry. JKR handled that with style and grace.

Chapter 6 and 7 Discussion below
You knew the talk between the three of them was coming, Harry telling them they shouldn't go, Ron and Hermione telling him to sod off! They knew it was coming as well, and they have not hesitated once in their resolve to be at his side. I love how well this chapter played out.
The Will of Dumbledore was cool. I can't wait to see what role these 3 objects play in the future of Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
The Kiss!!!! I enjoyed that scene. I even enjoyed Ron's reaction to it. Although not Harry's so much. Promising him it would not happen again. Harry deserves whatever happiness he can get. Even it it is just a few seconds of a kiss from Ginny. Ron should know this and understand Ginny is a big girl who can more than handle herself.

Discussion below includes Chapter 5 spoilers. I'm wondering about Snape too, especially since we know that he's the reason that the Order's escape plan was foiled (I think, right?). But with that in mind, I'm thinking that maybe Snape was trying to protect Snape, but made a mistake. I'm currently on chapter 7 btw.

Plus he knew leaving Harry meant he may not be safe, but I feel he really was sincere in his thanks to Harry. I loved Dudley coming through and showing appreciation too. I'm thinking that maybe he's beginning to question his parent's attitudes rather than simply emulating them. Kind of paralleling Harry questioning Dumbledore.

The Seven Potter's Idea was fantastic, I am just worried about the result of the battle. Such a great battle! I was shocked at what happened to Hedwig. The battle was so cool! I can't wait to see how it's visualized in the movie. And poor Hedwig. Seven Potter's, Seven Horcruxes. And someone, I forget who, talked about how it's a good thing there's not seven Voldemorts, but there kind of is isn't there? Also, now I've got this crackpot theory in my head that Death Eaters are somehow related to the horcruxes. Death Eaters --> eating death, prolonging life. Why are they called Death Eaters anyway? Or something.

Chapter 2 Discussion Below
Harry's wondering about all the questions he never asked Dumbledore, all that he never knew about Dumbledore's life makes me thing about how it never occurred to me to wonder about my own grandmother until after she passed away. Of course it was for much different reasons.
Also, the discussion about the forthcoming biography of Dumbledore is some good meta for the Harry Potter series itself.

Well, in terror of accidental spoilers, I have finished reading the book.
Will post my thoughts tomorrow with a huge WHOLE BOOK SPOILERS warning. Unless anyone would prefer me not to.

Well, in terror of accidental spoilers, I have finished reading the book. Will post my thoughts tomorrow with a huge WHOLE BOOK SPOILERS warning. Unless anyone would prefer me not to. I finished last night around 3:00am. I will come back and post as I have been a few chapters at a time. The book is much to much for me to try to post about the whole thing at once. My brain would explode.
