If I'm not mistaken, this was the original name of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale...intriguing! You are absolutely correct. And last week Topher called the dolls "sleepies", I think. Now, I wonder which one will be Sleeping Beauty*, and who is kissing whom? *Please note, this is idle speculation, based on no evidence, spoilers or other such stuff, posted in innocence, with no malice intended. Please do not smite the poster, as she can and will smite back. A vague disclaimer, etc etc etc...

With all our sleeping actives, my first thought when I saw the episode title was Sleeping Beauty also. I found online that the fairy tale is actual Brier Rose but close enough. I'm going to read up on all the different variants of this tale: www.pitt.edu/~dash/type0410.html#grimmAlso- I didn't know that there is a Fable Briar Rose: fable.wikia.com/wiki/Briar_Rosestarts out: "Briar Rose is a very powerful, intelligent and arrogant female Hero." hmmmm.... Also fitting. leftylady

WAAAAHHH!
So it does relate to Sleeping Beauty.
Little girl has a point. Doesn't stop her from being any more of a pain in the ass.
So this is why she was rented out.
And we have Mellie freaking out at Ballard's more restrained freakout.
"You'll get over it" OUCH.
So imprint an active with Mr. Dominic's personality.
So little girl is a knife afficionado. "Half the age, twice the price" yeah, I'd be fond of knives, too.
So he imprinted Echo with Little Susan's brain patterns? Making her the perfect therapist for Little Susan.
"Feeling is not unlike pride" So is this a pro bono publico mission?
So there's her handler. I'd thought she was a freelance, without one.
AND HE WAS FOLLOWING HER, KNOWING THEY'D PICK HER UP!!!

First Sleeping Beauty reference. And there's the obvious meta - prince shows up on the last day and gets the credit for saving her. Heh! This little girl is, well, kinda right but also kinda over-invested in the story, eh? So what's up with her then? Ballard can't keep doing this, which I can't really blame him for. And it's breaking Mellie's heart. Except, of course, that there really isn't a Mellie. Oooooh! Ask Mr. Dominic. Up in the attic? "You don't really think that ought to stop us?" So, what is this job that Echo is on? Why is someone paying for a Doll to help with a traumatized and abused kid? Whoa! All I can do is echo Topher's assistant. "Echo's imprint is the kid grown up?" Damn!! So, they can predict two paths and try to, like, send her down the right one? Whoa!! Whole approach and job, his idea. "Everybody wants to be righteous, when they can afford it." Topher, you complex little dude. Mellie!November, they gonna recall her and wipe her? Oh, man. And Ballard is following? So broke up with her, hoping it would cause this. Man, he's gonna be even more fucked up when he's done with all this than he was when he started, isn't he?

Who is that guy? Echo reading Briar Rose. Forshadowing? Isn't babysitting a little "underneath" the Dollhouse? Oh, she's...reading at the local library? Or she's Ballard is taking off. Oy. I kind of feel sorry for Mellie now. Back at the Dollhouse. Maintaining the Dominic illusion. Back with Echo Ah, this girl is a problem foster child. I guess this is the "philanthropic" type of mission Boyd was referring too. Back at the Dollhouse. Looking at Echoes brainscans. Tragic past, healthy head. Ah, Echoes been imprinted with the girl if she were to recover. Topher marvels at his brilliance, with a little help from his groupie. Victor's going to be imprinted with Dominic. I can't wait to see that. The actor who plays Victor is really good. Mellie wandering. Wait, doesn't she have a handler or something? Ah, there he is. November being debriefed. And Ballard following the black van. But surely the Dollhouse is following him?

EchoSusan bonding with Little Susan over their shared memories. So who set this up? And Paul is back at the scene of the crime. Or, well, the FBI building. and now he's sounding like a crazy man. Alan Tudyk built the place! And yep, they reimprinted Dominic onto Victor. Man, they just find cooler and cooler uses for this technology. And it's indistinguishable in affect from the original Dominic. Whatsishead is a great actor. Doctor Saunders again, still healing up. Back to the therapy session. Turning the fairy tale on its head for Little Susan. and confiscated her blade, too. ALAN!!! wow, he looks really twitchy. Medicinal carrots that were here when I moved in!!!! Nice timing with Earth Day actually being last week. "I also have Pom" Did he just make a "lips zipped" gesture when Ballard asked about the Dollhouse? "they will kill me, and you, and me again" "And now there's a gun!"

Yeah, I can see why she'd really hate that the princess didn't save herself too. Wanted to be part her responsibility because then she'd have the illusiong of power . . . and the Dolls don't even have that option because they don't have memory. Under one building is another. So, how does Dewitt have a great view, then? Ooooh! The environmental systems consultant!! Yay!! Wash!!!OMG, they put Dominic into Vincent? Cree-py! The Doc and Topher are the most creeped out and DeWitt and Boyd are . . . not so much. Hmmm. It's OK to get rescued by someone else if you aren't able to do it yourself. Pragmatic is good! Also? Decide to be the prince yourself, if you want. Also good. And sheds some nice nuance on Ballard. Yay! Tudyk! "Air! Am I still breathing?" "Medicinal carots! That were here when I moved in!" "Making carbon snow angels". ;D Earth will laugh and laugh and shake our bones. What a fun role for him! Nervous and pasty and totally wigging. "They will kill me, and you, and kill me again." And Ballard is still focuing on Caroline. What will he do when he sees all that is involved?

Echo and Foster Girl.
Ballard and FBI lady. Ballard is being unhinged.
Ballard went in to the Dollhouse? Surely they let him do that. He's got to get into the building that's invisible. Hmm.
Ha! I was right. DominicVictor is great.
More Echo and Foster Girl.
Ballard...breaking into Mellie's? Oh, it's the IT guy, and hey, I was right , it is Alan Tudyk!
He seemed much more put together in the last episode.
"Medicinal carrots," heh.
Ranting about green issues and the downfall of man.
He built the shell, not the Dollhouse itself.
I'm loving this new partnership.

Alpha. The Greek letter.
"The Center" So it's a puzzle.
"rope is always good"
"We're here? So soon! "
"You're the hard-nosed FBI agent and I'm the guy who hates Buddy Cop movies!"
"I'm not good with that sentence, either!"
Well, isn't she a special ray of sunshine. "Rush job"
"Ten stories" Jesus catcrap!
"Nurturing the tender throbbing hope that you'd give up!"
Should have listened to the dude and brought the rope, Ballard.
"Carrots"
Reading the story over the top, Ballard's the prince.

More DominicVictor.
Oh, Dominic was in contact with Alpha?
Paul Bunyan? I was not expecting that. Hee.
Dollhouse HQ is in Tuscon. Why Tucson? And also, I suddenly have the desire to confirm that my gparents were never clients.
Ballard and Alan Tudyk.
Is Ballard still only concerned about Caroline? There's like hundreds of Dolls in there, don't they all deserve the same consideration?
Sierra imprinted with a scientist of some sort.
Ballard and Tudyk crawling through the vents. Nice visual.
Echo back from her mission.
More Ballard and Tudyk.
Foster Girl reading Sleeping Beauty with the show montages. I have the feeling that waking the Dolls is going to require a little more than a kiss.
Ballard and Tudyk are in.

"Unsightly visibility"
"I'm gonna die in pajamas"
"This is a bad place" ya think?
Kemper is not freaking Ballard out enough with his calm joy there, or his sudden newfound competence.
Then again.... (with the risers)
He's fairly calm about it. I fear getting hamstrung, myself.
So Ballard is surprised to find Lubov in there?
"Do not try to open a locked pod: all hell will break loose, my tall man"
So he's focused only on getting Caroline out, not doing a recce and getting the frack out of this scary scary place?
His self-identification as Prince Charming is making it impossible for him to be cautious, calm.
"I'm sorry" and my hear breaks as he seals Mellie back in.
Not Caroline, Ballard. Echo.

NSA or Alpha or . . . who's sending messages? "Paul Bunyan?" "Did not anticipate that." Ha! ;D Oh! Is the main Dollhouse underground too? The one in Tuscon? 'Cuz I get that the bulk of the House is underneath, but some is not! 'Cuze we see out Adelle's windows, dude! "Rope is always good." Heee!! (Now watch, they'll end up needing rope, won't they?) "After I get Caroline out . . ." Does he really think he can pull one of them out, like one piece out of a game of pick-up sticks, and not have his whole plan fall tumbling down? Heeee! He's pulling him out of car like a snail out of a shell. ;D "Then what? We go in there, then we're in there. It's more people in there." Heh! Excellent point, really. Ha!! Yep, they needed rope. "Just because we can move forward, we must? You know, this is the same expansionist thinking that led to the trail of tears, man!" So, now we're gonna see how the whole fairytale trope is turned on its head, aren't we? It's real, alright, dude. And you are sooooooo in over your head.
