Here's the place for fanfic reccomendations that are not for any of the shows already specified.
In other words, not Joss-verse, not SG-verse, not Sentinal, not BSG, not Veronica Mars, not Heroes, not Torchwood, not Dr Who, not Alias, etc.
Let your multi-fandom recommendations flow!

You know, I would have sworn I posted a rec for this series last night; I must have spaced out before I hit "post" which, you know, I don't functionvery well when distracted by the people around me, or sleep deprived. Which: Julia's life in a nut shell these days. Dark Eyed Girl is the latest in Scherryzade's quickly-developing SGA gen series "Newcomers" (the tags for linked at the top of this chapter, so read them first). This is the eighth 1500-2000 word chapter about the people who come to Atlantis as replacements, and the effect they have on their surroundings. Wonderful characterization for both the canon and original charactors, great portrait of life as it is lived on the Atlantis expedition, at all stages of the story. Vivid emotions (excluding romance) and the missing guts of the human beings doing the work, dealing with life, death, and paperwork that would have raised the TV series into the realm of classics. In other words, PG-13 to R for violence and language but nothing that hasn't been shown on SciFi already. Do read, great stuff. Julia, Franklin interrupted me at random while writing this, but Sam is at Work and Anna's on a date.

My Live Journal friends list is heavily weighted with high-quality Spander writers who've moved into other fandoms; one of the best writers is Savoy Truffle, who's writing Kirk/McCoy fic of the finest kind. I need to get a rec written for her first assay into the ship, but her second (or so) is Past the Last Exit where Jim Kirk is thirty-four, a multiple offendor, a bartender, and a total reprobate, whose 18-year-old-not-a-girlfriend, Joanna McCoy, asks him to go home with her for Thanksgiving to shake her parents up. NooTrek AU, NC-17, slash, het, and alcoholism, with a side of angst and a promise of reclamation. Link goes to Chapter 1; parts are linked but if you have trouble reading them remember to C&P ?style=mine after html in the link, eh? Julia, this rec may well be the only useful thing I do today.

I just read it, and nearly exploded trying not to collapse on the floor helpless with laughter. Too hard to explain to the rest of the family. How wonderful. How perfect. Now, if we could just track down the Leverage DVD set, which may or may not be in Altadena...

Now, if we could just track down the Leverage DVD set, which may or may not be in Altadena... YAY! More Leverage; Hardison throws a Christmas party as only Hardison would: Your head's a dead tomato splot with moldy purple spots, Mr. Grinch. Gen, warnings for Eliot's special vodka. Julia, and Hardison's Christmas sweater his Nana knitted

More from Yuletide: Lord Peter Wimsey at the end of the war, at the beginning of things All Our Scattered Leaves: scattered clues from canon assembled in a coherent collection of viginettes of the fall of 1918. Julia, read this late last night and wasn't together enough to write a rec then

Here's a rec for a wonderful little Vorkosigan universe crossover with the Buffyverse: With a starSet a thousand years from now, on the Vorkosigans' honeymoon. There's a sequal more than ten times as large, linked to at the bottom. Bon apetit!

Reremouse writes Trek! In any case, he refuses to be the one behaving awkwardly when McCoy has gone right back to being an admirable example of his irascible self. "How bout that rumor Vulcans are just about irresistible to humans?"
Spock glances at him over his shoulder. "That one is true." NooTrek? TOS? Who cares? Of the insubstantial line (between insults and sex) Spock/Mcoy, and approximately as funny as NC-17-ish slashfic can be. Julia, I needed the amusement, I did.

Hah. Sometimes checking SGA Storyfinders works; todayI've gotten sucked in to The Physics of the Spin a SGA/Gilmore Girls (no, wait, don't walk away, really, it's a superior story, please, hear me out) crossover that starts when, well, things happen at random- and then Christopher had the same leukemia that killed his dad and Rory takes a blood test to be a donor and, well, things proceed from there. Let me just say that the part where Rory takes Vala to a Stars Hollow Town Meeting is some of the best writing I've read recently, and whereas it's not an absolutely perfect work, it's so much better than anything I've read lately that I'm more than willing to put up with the very minor and mostly matters of taste problems for the absolutely note-perfect characterization of everyone from Paris to Torren, and the great action sequences, including a couple of classic Friday dinners. Julia, really, read it, it's a gas (cross-posted on SG and Other threads)

Leverage! Getcher Leverage fic here!An Exercise in Exasperation (pg) by Lear's Daughter: the team goes out to the movies, which involves a complex decision grid, two cars, minimum, about !125 worth of concessions (according to Eliot, popcorn is popcorn and, uh, read it, you'll see... Julia, Parker's definition of Horror Story gives rise to much contemplation.

Long time no post. One of the most effective ways to find new fic is to go to Archive of Our Own and search by author; I just found a new-ish due South story by the great Speranza: Locked Room Puzzle (PG) is a post-series Ray K/Fraser old married relationship story with a new Sergeant at the local RCMP barracks and a case that's giving her the stink-eye. It involves library books, dog sleds, and the properties of ice. Also, weirdly, this is the first due South story I've recommended here: most of my recommendations are (not under the proper tag in my live journal; I'll get right on that and edit the link later) and some are on the due South crack van delicious list under the julia_here reccer tagJulia, I should get back to doing this, right?
