Oh! The previews for next week showed James Marsters! Things are really going to heat up next week.
Not sure what I think of the Tamara angle. I still don't get exactly what and how the hologram world exists. She is one angry chick, tho.
"What are you?" indeed!

You can just see Joseph hectoring Daniel Graystone about the new discovery that the avatar of Tamra is still hanging around in v-space. And, she is one angry avatar, but that makes some sense given being used and shot at and the like. I wonder what personality she forms the basis of in the humanoid Cylons. A Tamralon kinda reminds me of Caprica 6 in her anger, or maybe the Lucy Lawless model?

Oh, I like this group marriage. Well, the school woman is a bit intense-hiding-things-probably-dangerous. But the rest of them? Too! Cute! And of course the kid at school is involved in the bombing stuff, up to his neck. “People want contrition. Just make it clear it’s not guilt from making a dangerous product.” I love the layers here. It’s a commentary on RL and the way news and media work; it continues the “nooooo!” feeling/reaction we have, knowing that Zoe wasn’t really guilty; and it is oh so ironic that, of course, he is making a dangerous product. They’re just concerned about the holobands when they should be concerned about the cylon. I gotta say, Zoe-mom, you really don’t have any leg to stand on to chastise Zoe-dad after your “my daughter was a terrorist” crowd-unpleasing freak out. I understand that you “didn’t mean” to do it, but you did. And now that it has happened, there are consequences. “We’re parents.” “No, we’re not.” Ouch!! Cute scientist guy kneeling in front of the cylon to work on it . . . oddly sexual, wasn’t it? “You think you only get things from friends? You get the best things from enemies. Because they’re scared of you.” Scary grandma is scary! I love the insight into Adama we’re getting – his background, his experiences. They bring the press to a house search. How very revealing. I like Zoe’s friend. She’s tougher and smarter than a lot of people give her credit for, I’m thinking. Cop guy is very very persistent, isn’t he? “Tauren slang. That’s very street of you, sir.” Heeeee! Hold me closer, tiny cylon dancer! Revenge . . . Is Zoe-dad going to lose it on this show? Oh, man. Zoe-mom, on the loose again. Nooooooo!! Then again, she’ll have that “in-your-face emotion of a mourning mother” thing going, which might just catch fire on a TV show and swing sympathy back to them. Huh. And her appearance causes him to tell a TV audience about the avatar of Zoe?! Whoa! “I don’t need no stinkin’ plastic badge.” Oh, thank you Jane E and your influence! This show actually has humor!!!! “This isn’t the way home.” Eeeep! So, did Grampa Adama want Sam to kill her, to match the fact that his wife was killed? Whatever the plan, he doesn’t really believe in it, fully. Or he wants it done and not done. Yeah, she’s figuring out now that just getting in a car with someone she didn’t know was not such a good idea. Didn’t kill her, “scared her a bit”. And totally messing with Grampa Adama’s head. “I think from now on, we both need to be a little more careful.” Duh!! “I know how an avatar works. And so do you.” Oooooh!

I'm loving this show so far! It airs on Tuesday night over here, so we're only a few days behind you. I'm looking forward to seeing where the story takes us from here. Great stuff! Hey, Cal! I didn't even know that it was showing in England, so that shows how out of the loop I am.

So, being sick has its advantages. I get to re-watch the Caprica pilot and I noticed that when Sam kills that big shot minister he does so with a picadore-like action what with the cutting of the throat and the dual stabbings. Reminded me of what the picadores would do at the end of the bullfight. Oh, that is a very cool comparison! Very evocative and a clever play on Taurus the bull. I love all the little detailed touches we get in this show.

Is it wrong that I hoped that Sam would follow through on the murder plot? I'm not a huge fan of Amanda Graystone. Both of them make me want to smack them with the "think before you talk/act" clue bat sometimes, but yes, her more often. Mostly because she's all "I didn't mean to yell out that my daughter was a terrorist to a huge crowd of people and news crews and now I want everyone to listen to me when I once again impulsively rush out in front of the TV cameras to say she wasn't a terrorist and be cranky that they dare to think she was the thing I told them she was earlier". ;D ;D Well, the machine was definitely a better dancer than he was . . .

I love Sam. Love love LOVE that character. Very juicy possibilities for character development. Plus, he's hella hot. ;D Smokin' hot! With the tats and the arms and the gangster killing stuff! Um. OK, that last part probably not so much, eh?

Is it wrong that I hoped that Sam would follow through on the murder plot? I'm not a huge fan of Amanda Graystone. That dance scene with the tech and the Zoelon was a bit awkward, I thought. Awkward because of the way Zoe was dancing in her head with him? She seemed very young then. And a bit shy with the tech. Wonder if they'll fall in love and if he'll become and avatar to be with her? And they can have little avatar babies! Or little cylon babies! Now I'm imagining cylon babies . . .

The “last week on” reminds me of something I thought about last week’s ep that I didn’t comment on – Daniel’s statement that they wouldn’t profit from the holobands and the company guy being all “that’s 60 percent of our profit”. So, if they lose the income from holobands and virtual worlds, will that put more pressure on the cylon side of the business? They end up rushing to decisions that they might have thought about more if they didn’t need the money as badly? Grampa Adama is very messed up, isn’t he? I’m glad that Sam is pointing out that his son needs him to be there for him! Poor little Tamara avatar. Stuck in VR and not even aware that she’s not a real person. So, the woman running the Russian roulette game, does she have an inkling about what Tamara is? Or is she just greedy? Oh, man. Looking at Uncle Sam before you do what your dad says? Well, this will either make Grampa Adama realize how serious things are, or . . . New Cap city. Ah ha ha ha ha!! ;D “It’s not real.” “It is to me.” I love the different reactions to her not vanishing from the game. How can dad be so clueless about the kids behind them? Whoa! That’s some aim with a rock, Willie! Well, that’s one way to dominate a meeting. Bring a cylon as your back up. And of course, that image is much more disturbing to us, who’ve seen them marching in to take over humanity in the future. Oh, man! His speech is the one that the TV networks should hear, eh? From the pens of the writers right thru metaphor to comment on our times. “That’s where the kids are going. Because it’s free. And the next generation coming up? They’ll expect it all to be free.” **get shivers over the “take a nice look at all these fine folks” bitterness in his voice** “Do you find yourself wondering, what it might be thinking?” “Are you seriously asking me about the practical applications of creating another race that will walk beside us?” It won’t be “beside us” for long, though, will it? Won’t need to be paid, won’t retire, will do whatever we ask – hey, there, rip your own arm off, will you? Yeah, “beside us”? Not so much. “Looked a little painful, didn’t it?” “We make them. We own them. They’re real. And the world’s just changed.” **gets shivers again** This has to be a part of the game and then . . . Oh! She shields him with her body!! And she made the guards go bye-bye! She’s starting to learn how to use her code-based existence to interact with the code of the virtual world, at least unconsciously. **loves the richer level of detail, Tauran ceremonies, etc. ** This is what I wanted more of in BSG! World-building; universe-building! Love. It! Hmmmm. They think they can control Tamara? Yeah. I think not. “What are you?” “I’m awake.” That is so awesome! That’s a classic Buddha saying!! If I recall correctly, the teaching story goes something like: They ask the Buddha is he is God/a God, and he says no. They ask if he is mystical or magical and he says no. They ask if he’s a man and he says no. What is he? “I am awake.” Will you let them go, Yusef? That’s the big question. **admits to having to watch the scene twice to get the solemn and the importance and so on, because the first time I was just all “ooooooh, shirtless Sam!!1eleventy** Man, I LOVE the image of Tamara stalking thru new cap city, ruler of all she sees.

If I had to guess that we're seeing the main 5 on Caprica right now, I would pick Zoe's mom to be a precursor of Ellen Tigh. She'll be killed and her husband will make an avatar of her.
