I don't remember where this was first pointed out to me, but it's worth noting that the sixth episode of season one was "House of the Rising Sun," in which we learned more about Sun and Jin's marriage and that she was planning on leaving him in Sydney before they boarded Oceanic 815; it also featured the big reveal that Sun could speak English. The link will take you to the Lospedia entry for the episode, in case anyone feels like refreshing their memory more.

Nadia IS MARRIED TO SAYID'S BROTHER? THE HELL?
So he's not just post-terrorism this time. he's got legitimate business.
Is Omar a terrorist now, then?
<==========Whoosh!
Sayid talking to Dogen.. so they've judged him on the scales.
Did giving into the darkness and killing an innocent (at the time) child bring about the darkness Dogen sees?
So Dogen's a ninja. Who has some severe issues relating to that baseball.
Is he being kicked out of the temple grounds?
Claire and Smokey out in the woods...
"I alway do what I say."

The baseball actually is important? WTF!? CrazyCaveClaire and FLocke. A match made in . . . well, a match made on a wacky time-jumping magical island.

Was Sayid a member of the Republican Guard at all in this timeline, I wonder? For a moment I wondered if the baseball was going to levitate or become a Ninja weapon or something. Eeeep!

Oh. Sayid - 'He's not that man anymore.' He was changed by the island?
Matthew - You are so right. Claire of the Cave Bear clan.
'Put her in the hole.'
Mr. Temple Master spilling the beans and asking Sayid to kill Smokey/Locke. Evil Incarnate.
Will Sayid do it?

Omer doesn't need money, he needs Sayid to do some fingernail pulling.
Everyone insisting that Sayid wants to keep doing this.
Christ, what a fuckwit. You think he doesn't care about your kids or you, asshole? Way to use your brother's lech against him.
<==========Whoosh
Miles here to tell him the what's what.
And enter Cave!Claire! and that blunt "speak English" she's all badass and scary-crazy.
Send Sayid. he's going outside anyways. And Dogen decides to do just that, apparently.
Wow, Dogen cleaned up rather quickly, didn't he?
an angry.. man?
And we have another box of mystery.
With WHAT inside? a roman sword.
He's gonna show up as Omer.
How willhe prove that there is good in his soul by killing for someone else?
And is that a magic knife?

Loansharks. Ah, and there's the answer. He was an interrogator/torturer. I hate to say this, but that doesn't necessarily make him able to deal with gangsters, even if he was "that man" still. Different situations, is all I'm sayin'. "Banished. For what?" "Apparently, I'm evil." Put her in the hole. And "look harder" for Jack and Hugo. Heeeee! Oh, and now you need Sayid. What, do you need the muscle, like his brother did, hmmmm? A confused girl, under the influence of an angry man. Oh, so she's not evil. Prove you're good by quickly killing someone who "looks" like someone you know, because the guy who tortured and tried to kill you tells you to? Yeah. I'd do that. Sure.

'Cuz of being on the Ajira flight with them? That might make him be willing to do it, but still. It's a hell of a thing to ask him to do just on the say-so of someone who's not given him a lot of reason to trust.

Damn. Well, now he knows.

I'll bet mama likes it better when you're there, Sayid.
Oh crap! Papa Omer is dead?
No, not quite. but Sayid is off to go dole out the harshness.
Until Nadia asks him not to.
<===========Whoosh!
And now it's Sayid's turn to have a random Kate encounter.
Kate and the Miles recap. okay, that wasn't as funny as I exp.HAH! "Still hot, though""
Yeah, this can't be good, Kate going to talk to Claire.
so, he spoke first. does that vitiate the magic?
Apparently it does.

Yeah, I'll bet mommy likes it when you're there. Listen to Nadia - don't go looking for trouble. In and out, in and out. Boy, that temple is, like, the most popular destination for everyone. "Welcome back to the circus." "Acting all weird. Still hot, though." Wind! Evil wind! Fight the evil wind with your knife! OMG, and he did it! He just did it! Whoa!! "Now why'd you go and do that?" Lovin' the mind-fuckery of this show.

Hey, he was told to do so.
This is not going the way Dogen anticipated.
heh. "And what is it YOU are trying to talk me into?"
"could have anything you wanted" Nadia's dead in this world.
Oh, poor Sayid Woobiebear..
Just Say No to Necromancy, Sayid!
==========>Whoosh!
Sayid is still going to do it, I think, but he's gonna wait until Nadia isn't paying attention.
Oh god, he decided not to be with her because of what he did in the war....
"I can't be with you because I don't deserve you" Oh, Sayid.
<==========Whoosh! "None of you have to stay anymore" leaving the island forever, you can go with him.
Or die. yep, nice rational alternatives, there.
Kate beating on Lennon. Who hasn't wanted to do that?
They put her down there because she's batshit of batshit.
And Cave!Claire is getting ready to attack. wonder if she can jump up that high.
This may help, no, not so much. Claire doesn't believe her.

"You want it back?" Ah ha ha ha ha ha!! I do believe that FLocke is not a good guy. But I do think he was telling the truth that Dogen didn't think Sayid would be able to kill him. And if I were Sayid, I'd be washing my hands of both of them, turn my back on both sides. Oh, offering him "anything" in the world? Dead giveaway to the evil, dude! Omar's responsibility, he brought it on himself. Harsh! True, but harsh. He's been trying to wash his hands. Ah, and not being with Nadia is a way of doing penance too. Because Jacob is gone, they don't have to stay. FLocke is leaving the island and they can come with or die. Yeah, both sides are just so darn peachy, I'd surely be convinced to join one or the other. Totally, dude! Kate. Don't tell Claire you have Aaron - she'll go all CaveCrazy on your ass! "He's coming and they can't stop him." Does she mean FLocke, or another "he"?
