No, no, no - no killing of Richard; he is still too pretty to die!

Ooooh, AUBenry is devious too. Artz plays Let's Make a Deal. Ah! He can't kill himself. And the touch of Jacob is the gift - so will all of them live forever too? Obviously not. Only the one that takes over for Jacob? And Jack steps up to help him die. But only if Richard tells him what's up. Excellent!!!! Excellent, Jack!!! Smart Jack, clever Jack!

huh. Depends, Doc, on the way ya teach the difference between genus and species. This Ben is lousy at manipulation and mind games. And Doc is misapprehending Ben's goals. "Linus, you're a real killer" and I find I like flash sideways Ben a whole more than the normal one. <===Whoosh! Ben still diggin' Black Rock. So Richard did come here on this ship. "Can't kill myself. which is why I want you to do it for me" huh. Much like Michael? So Jack is helping Richard kill himself. "now. let's talk" It's nice to see that Jack's sense of timing is as appropriate as ever. Oh, excellent catch!!

"Guy's crazy. And I know crazy!"
"Ifyouchangeyourmind,I'llbelikeamileaway"
Jack is thinking Jacob's touch causes him to be immortal too.
What he does not know is that Lock was touched by Jacob too.
"What if you're wrong?" "I'm not"
Jack is now the man of faith.
is he actually doing it? Giving in to the crazy, submitting to the batshit?
Back at Boot hill..
Smokey!
I very much like Smokey's sense of humor now.
"Someone's gonna need to be in charge of the island"
Both sides? the white and the black, as with Jacob and Smokey/Essau?
and off he runs, like the proverbial striped ape.
===>whoosh!
Does this Ben have the chops to pull it off?
"your job"
How does this get Alex her letter of recommendation?
"May I read you an e-mail?"
Alex's request for a rec.
Shit, Ben, shit. you didn't play it right. you ask for the letter of rec, first, then you work your way up to the job-taking.
<===whoosh!
Ben gets her to surrender the M1 Carbine.
Ben pulling out the heartstrings, not to manipulate her, but to try to keep from having to kill her.
"The thing that really mattered was already gone"
"Let me leave"
"To Locke. Because he's the only one that will have me." with that hitch of complete despair and desolation in his voice. Honest and naked. Emerson deserves a freaking Emmy for this one scene.
"I'll have you"
Wow. that worked. Wow.
"Worked" in that he managed to be able to not kill her, and it succeeded beyond his wildest dreams.

Actually, I don't think either one of us is gonna die. Whoa! Jack's idea actually worked? That's gotta be a first! "You wanna try another stick?" "What are you doing?" "I'm digging my own grave!" "Why?" Once we're gone, someone's gonna need to be in charge of the island. Oh, Benry! Are you going to be the replacement for Smokey? AUBenry is a damn good blackmailer. Only now what does he choose? Getting the job or helping Alex. On the other hand, why not make that another condition of the blackmail? Oh!! Benry is hesitating to shoot because he's thinking of Alex!! Yep, I'm right. "I had a chance to save her, but I chose the island instead." Sacrificed everything for Jacob, and he didn't care. (Daddy issues much?) "To Locke. Because he's the only one that'll have me." "I'll have you." OMG!!! OMG!! **almost gets teary** DAMN, THIS EP! Awesome ep, dudes. Awesome!

And he chose Alex over temporal power?
And they tried to make us think that he picked the thrones and c. over the well-being of one child he cared about.
Offers Arzt his parking place.
<==whoosh!
alllowed back in to ..society, no longer an outcast, and offers to help Sun. My sociology teacher would have loved this.
Miles with some of Nikki and Paolo's diamonds. Did he dig up a lion's share of them?
Hurley and Jack coming back to the beginning here. Richard coming in.
Ben. still alone, with n one to hug him, still isolated.
..a submarine?
Widmore's Magic Submarine.
Re: the preview: I will seriously lose it if Sawyer winds up screwing around with Kate. Later, I could see it, but now is too soon. I think he's too rage-filled and broken. maybe if he treats her like a sister.

AUBenry chose Alex over the job. (I still believe that he could have had both, but then I'm greedy. And, he looks like he's perfectly OK with his choice.) So the theme of them all getting to resolve their issues (or try) in the AU continues. He got to give Alex the happy life she didn't get on the island. Humbled Benry returns to help with the camp. Awwwwwwww!! Miles has his diamonds - sweet! Jack and Hurley and Richard! Awwwwww - love seeing Hurley and Sun and Jack get together again. Oooooooh, who's coming in on the sub? Who! Who! Why, Whidmore, of course!

"Yeah. A fire will fix everything." hehe "You make friends easy, don't cha?" ha! Dad. "Imagine what our lives would've been like if we would have stayed (on the island)." Not what you think, dad. Not what you think. Candidates to replace Jacob. Only 6 candidates left. Richard! Where did you come from? The"B" spot. There's that sentiment again - "Imagine how different my life would have been." "The island would have got you in the end." What is the island. The afterlife? Benry - dig your own grave. Heh. A lot of people do do that, don't they? Dig their own graves.

I'm still not totally sold on Ben's redemption; just that he's not going to turn on his new/old 'friends' anytime soon. This is the guy who murdered his father and all the Dharma personnel, apparently ordered the kidnapping of Walt, and murdered Locke. However, this episode was high drama; and I love it that in the AU, Ben does not seem to have fallen, and has made better choices.

Yay, a Ben episode!!!
Teaser
On the island.
Running, running, running. Spooked ya! Off to the beach it is!
In LA.
And it was on this island that everything changed.
Exile wasn't the worst thing; the worst thing was the loss of his power.
Hey, It's That Guy!
Supervising detention, Should be fun!
Oh no, Not the History Club!!!
Poor, unappreciated Dr. Linus.
Faculty Lounge. Doc Arzt teaches here too. Is he still a Doc in this reality?
What the public school system about. Um, politics?
Ooh, Ben really likes the idea of being principal. Tapping into his latent megalomania.
Sounds like you care about this place, and if The Man in charge doesn't, then maybe it's time for a change. See, politics. Just like I said.
Back on the island.
Ah ha, Illana confronts Ben.
Miles reading Jacob. This should be interesting.
Jacob was the closest thing Illana ever had to a father. Interesting.
"Uh oh." Miles echoes what I was thinking. Hee.
Don't act so surprised Ben, you can't have not expected people to be upset when you killed Jacob.
