Translation: From the beginning of time.
Seems like an appropriate title for an episode about Richard Alpert, no?

--DVR WARNING----
My tv schedule shows the V repeat after tonight's Lost starts at
6 AFTER THE HOUR !!!
Set your DVR;s for Lost accordingly! ;D
and just to start the thinking about the episode:
from wikipedia: ================ "ab aeterno" - from the eternal Literally, "from the everlasting" or "from eternity". Thus, "from time immemorial", "since the beginning of time" or "from an infinitely remote time in the past". In theology, often indicates something, such as the universe, that was created outside of time. ================
hmm.....

Looks like we get Ilona backstory on this one too.
"six people I need you to protect"
Wonder what the hell was going on with Ilona there.
Going to straight-up flashbacks again
Ask Ricardus.
Something I've known for a long time..
"You're dead" and "We're in hell"
Okay, so Richard is THAT kind of fan.

Richard!!! **bounces in happy anticipation of lovely lovely Richardness** Interesting. Starts with Jacob visiting . . . is her name Anna? Maya? Giving her instructions to protect the remaining candidates. Lovely little hysterical laugh there. "I have no idea what we do next!" They're all dead and in hell. Yeah, really? What makes me think it's not quite so simple, dude. 'Cuz we've got a lot of eps left to go.

HAH! with Benry's little "this should be good" "If it's any consolation..." Who was Hurley talking to? No, he talks to Jacob in English.
Wow, Canary Islands are pretty.
Isabella.
This interview with the the doctor is not going well.
I sense a robbery about to happen
leave the coins, grab the medicine, and go.
Hey! he listened!
And she's dead already, isn't she? Of course she is.
Teaching himself English.
Confession.
And this S.O.B. is about the opposite of Catholic, isn't he? not any flavor of Christian.

Who to believe? Richard? FLocke?
And Hurley's busy chatting up other dead people - it's not all about the island, dude.
So, you met when you were kids? Heeee!
1867 . . is that the oldest we're going back to? I was hoping for longer!
Oh noes! The telltale bloody hanky! Selling jewelry to pay for a doctor! It's La Boheme!!!
So, he's gonna make a deal wiht the devil Jacob or Smokey or an agent of one of them to save his wife, eh?
Ah, he killed the dude (accidentally) and thus "earned" his island fate, perhaps?
I thought once you confessed, sincerely sorry, you got absolution for anything, even murder?
Ah, so this is why he believes he is dead and in hell, yes?

Richard looked a bit crazy-eyed there, talking about hell and everyone being dead. A day is along time to be gone. Yep. Too long. What kind of priest is that? They are supposed to absolve you of your sins if you confess. Yeah, and give you penance, too...but that was just wrong.

Magnus Hanso....ah ... The Black Rock? Of course. Man, you had to be some kind of crazy back in the day to cross the ocean in those small wooden boats. Hee! The 'devil' is the island's statue. That's how it got broken. Huh. Richard was saved by Smokey. Enter...who? It's made of electricity and smoke. Geez. I got goose bumps.

Nice production choice, to have the initial shot be all dark after they put his blindfold on. Ah, and this is how he got to be on the Black Rock, then. Oooooh! And the big statue is all big still! So, how did it get so small so quick, then, eh? Guess we'll find out tonight! Damn. Killing all the still living cargo. To make the supplies last longer among the remaining officers . . . and here comes smokey! Whoa! Eated him right up! But didn't eat Richard. That. Was. Awesomely! Bizarre!!

So the reverend father is selling him into slavery. wonderful.
And off he goes on the Black Rock.
Wow, nice conditions for a slaver.
Tawaret...
wow, they went far inland, but we knew that already, didn't we?
And the slaver's down here to .. kill the excess cargo. Why? Won't they be able to work them for their own good?
And here comes Smokey!
Wow, I bet it dragged him back up through the grill, didn't it?
Huh. smokey and Richard.
Hey! it's the LOST/BSG Recap gal recapping!

And efforts to escape
And a man-eating pig.. who he vows to kill.
And he can't reach the nail.
Smokey as Isabelle. that's a dick-move, isn't it?
And how did Smokey do that? can he partially manifest? split himself? Throw his voice?
Smokey's old form with the black shirt!
wonder what he's gonna promise to Esau here.
oh, wow, those look painful as all hell. Better get them into the salt water to get them cleaned up. Which will really hurt.
"good to see you out of those chains"
"kill the devil" oh, Smokey!
