When I first saw this episode and watched as the troll fought everyone in the Bronze, I thought, "Did I just see what I thought I saw?" So I watched it again. "Yup, I DID just see what I thought I saw." Spike had been thrown to the floor by the troll, then Buffy landed on top of Spike. As Buffy was trying to regain her feet, Spike was attempting to help her up and was deliberately copping a feel as he boosted her up. His face says it all. Very, very briefly, but his look said his action was intentional and full of satisfaction. I can't remember another scene in the whole series where any character's sexual action was so overtly on camera (if we discount Spike going at it with invisiBuffy in "Gone" - 6th season.) I also don't count the blanket moving when Angel and Buffy do it in Season 2 at the end of "Surprise." Darn that sheet and blanket anyway... Can anyone else remember an instance in BtVS with such blatant sexual behavior on camera? Alexandra

Alexandra Well, Smashed was pretty blatant, as was DoubleMeat Palace by the dumpster, but if you mean something other than that pumping motion, the one that comes to mind for me is Spike & Harmony in Pangs. He puts her on the bed and tells her that he knew she would welcome him back with "open arms" while running his hand all the way up her inner leg and under her skirt. I thought it was a pretty racy move for early prime-time TV. And there's the "Spike's orgasm" we see, also with Harmony, after he's imagining he's fighting Buffy - though again, that's motion under the sheets. I can't think of any that didn't involve Spike.

I had totally forgotten about the mention of the Cat and the Hat in this episode. With the fish ~soul/conscience. And...The cat usually being associated with slayers/female power.
And I wonder if all the experimenting that Willow did on Amy had any sort of negative effect, possibly contributing to her behavior when she's finally de-ratted.
