Gaaaaaah... had the insoles in my boots wear out about an hour and a half into the family reunion, argh: feet hurt! Three nights in a row of explosions, brain not yet reformatted. Julia, ouch, duh. Maybe it's time for some fuzzy slippers or perhaps a warm basin of water and something soothing?

the ratbagging post awful and all its minions. I had to order a textbook for the class Elder Daughter is taking Right Now. From Amazon. It shipped, it got to the Post Awful on July 1 and was scanned in and then marked as out for delivery to the wrong zip code... and promptly disappeared into the ether. I called on Friday and was told "there there, don't worry your empty little head, lil' lady, it'll be there today". No package. Saturday, no package. Today, I called again. The delivery supervisor says he went through all the packages including the undeliverable ones. He can't find it. He's vewwy sowwy, but I'll have to wait thirty days to file a claim. So I went and frantically ordered another copy, and because Amazon now says it would take at least 11 days, I paid more to order the book from Barnes & Noble, which said it could ship in 1-3 days. And just a few minutes ago, our regular carrier brought a package from Amazon, with Elder Daughter's book in it. He can't understand how it got scanned in or why nobody could find it either. Fortunately, I was able to cancel the B&N order, at least I hope so.

I'm in the equivalent, and have taken the day slowly all the chooks are fed and watered, Bacchus talked to and given some rose prunings, with more to come, sprinklers out but being ignored. 80F, Western Washington "hot" and I'm letting myself be tired and drowsy. Julia, I have to make something edible for Franklin and me, but I've got until 8pm or so.

All the GRRRRing makes me think of this story:
Awhile back I had two attractive, 30ish female assistants, and a beautiful young 19 yr old lady who was my student worker. They had this conversation:
Assistant A (meaning how do you write the sound a cougar makes, but being very unclear): How do you write a cougar?
Assistant B: What? What do you mean?
Student (misunderstanding "write"): Gosh, I don't know, I've never ridden a cougar!
Of course, the Department Lech popped his head into the office just as my student was uttering that last sentence!
Even he, who takes all opportunities for both single and double entendres, who loved nothing better than to come by our all female office and make inappropriate comments, was speechless. I'm not sure if he was more stunned by his ears, or his luck, but all he said was: "Uh, I'll come back later."

I've been sooo busy!
And I have two widdle boys coming over on Thursday. Yowza.
I had a nice experience on Sunday - I heard from a friend of my son's, a young woman. She sent me a nice email telling me she had been thinking of Vince, how much he had meant to her, and that she had found some pictures he drew for her. She asked if I wanted them.
I was really touched, and after a good cry, I wrote her back that I really appreciated her offer, but it would mean a lot to me if she kept the pictures. I asked her to send me copies if she had a scanner or copy machine easily available to her.
I hope I get to see the drawings, but mostly, I am glad to hear from one more person who is keeping Vince in his or her heart.
