Today I installed a program update to our antivirus and after that the browsers won't open, Firefox or IE. So I'm running a full Malwarebytes scan because it's all I can think to do, and I'm at the library with Kitty. I haven't been able to reach our PC repair guy yet either. This is so not good. I can't get a break, I just can't. I'm on the edge of a panic attack and I feel like throwing up. It's not just the computer, it's all the stress, and everybody depending on me all the time. i need a hug, please please? My computer had the exact same problems. I think the virus was the 'danger Will Robinson'-type 'your computer is infected' virus. I kept running this program called CrapCleaner and AVG Spysweeper. Then I let it sit for a week, and managed to load up a copy of Norton which seems to have solved the problem and I don't notice anything missing or wonky - so far. Stupid computers. I hope you can beat yours into submission soon. Actually it looks like a bad update from our antivirus company; PC Whisperer thinks he may have to uninstall and reinstall it for us. I told him to do whatever needs done, and if he knows a better antivirus, sell us that instead.

My son is killing me.
Still no word on whether he picked up the ring and when/if he's asked Sarah etc. I am trying to be patient.
We are set to have dinner at her parents' house on Sunday July 31 while we are in Chicago.
Surely he plans to have asked/answered by then.
Since we leave for Chicago in 2 weeks he better get a move on.
Meanwhile, we hear from my sister in NYC that her youngest (3rd of 3 sons -- 2 older sons are married, one has a baby, Jon is in between Carolyn and Tom in age) HAS picked up his ring and even though his gf doesn't know that she has already reserved the church for Dec. 3
So the rest of the family stands to get 2 announcements in a very short time span ............................... I hope.
Carolyn and Blaine are talking but he is uncertain about kids and that is a total deal-breaker for Carolyn. But better to deal with these issue early on (well, 18 months in isn't exactly early, but it is for my kids).

OMG, I am tired! The little guys did pretty well for a first day in a new house. They were having trouble getting to sleep, but I think they have managed to do so. They are real bundles of energy, and are quite competitive with each other about toys and such (most oft-repeated phrase of the day: "He won't share!!"). But mostly, they got along well and had fun. Did I mention I was tired? Bless you (and them). Ages? How many days? 4, 5, 6 (4 & 5 yrs old, 6 days)

Girl, you need to stand up and tell everyone around you that you're at the breaking point and need help! It does no one any good if you crater. Trust me on this, I've been there--cratering and all! Oddly enough, things still manage to get done somehow. I did. I have. It never works, unless Emily steps in, and she's got school plus her TA prep work, so not really an option. It just means I have even more to do later. Also Paul's got another nasty coughy cold coming on, and it's been wicked hot and sticky, so neither of us is getting enough sleep. Still no computer, I'm supposed to call after we get home from the library (Yorba Linda this time) and see if it's ready yet. FYI, if anybody heard about a brushfire in Brea, it's several miles north and east of us above Carbon Canyon and last I heard was moving farther north into LA County. So we've got a smoky smell and a bit of ash, but we're otherwise safe. Glad for the safe, but still concerned. Kid, they can't lean on you unless you allow it and I don't think you're doing them any favors by that allowing. These people are all adults or nearly so. They have to stand on their own. It was one thing when the girls were still children, but they're not anymore and you (sorry to say it, but suffering from the same malady myself) are not as young as you used to be. You're going to tire sooner more intensely as you get older. It's time to back off a little and delegate. If you do it in bits they may not notice, but if it takes a full fledged tantrum to get their attention, then I say go for it. Anne, let me pose you a question and then I'll drop it. If all is as you say (and I'm not doubting it for a minute. I've got a family too, remember) and things won't get done unless you do them--who will take over if you drop from exhaustion or stress or some other nasty cause or causes? What will happen if they DON'T get done? Oh, and it's time to retire that old, useless guilt too.

Mostly lots of fun, though it definitely had its challenging moments.

I have now exercise for more than 50 minutes for the 4th straight day.
This is an accomplishment. Go me.

The computer is home again, but we're still fine-tuning things. It's been a ratbag of a day; when I called our guy in the late morning, he still didn't know what was wrong. But when we called again in late afternoon, he said it was fixed. He still doesn't know exactly what went wrong this time; his description was "one part of the OS ate another part". Also the scroll wheel on the mouse isn't working right now, which is a pain. Emily's going to see if she can figure it out. She's got a real knack for computer stuff; she plugged everything back in while I hid in the bedroom so I wouldn't have to watch and worry. Fingers crossed, maybe we won't have to do this again for a while. Gah.ETA: Emily fixed the mouse - I thought if we could get the computer to recognize it as new hardware, it'd download the proper driver. Emily unplugged it from the adaptor and stuck it into a usb port, and it did its little thing, and now the scroll wheel works again.
