Well, that all went better than I expected. I decided the best thing to do was go for a walk, so Emily and I walked to Cost Plus and around the shopping center. By the time we got back, Paul had returned with a lawnmower-in-a-box (some assembly required), and it was after 10, so I drove over to the library. I found a copy of Soulless, which I've been wanting to recommend to my mother (it's sort of Amelia Peabody-esque, with werewolves, vampires and steampunk, and wholly delightful) at the little Friends of the Library store, and picked up my hold. The bead store didn't have the glue-in Swarovski crystals I need, but they said Michael's has them. Which I will believe when I see it, but I'm willing to try. And by the time I got home, the washer repair guy was here and hard at work - Emily says they called and said he could be here early, so she said fine, go for it. So he's done, and gone, and the washer seems to be working again. Things are going far too well. I don't trust it. I went to one of my mailorder sources and ordered a few other things I needed, plus some glue-in ab crystals of the correct size. It'll take a week or so, but I'm not in a hurry anyway.

Monnie bonnie! Love the opener. So how was San Diego? San Diego was wonderful and fantastic, as per usual. I'm already jonesing to go back. I may even move there one day. Who knows? But Comic Con was a blast. We took it easy this year and didn't rush around to see every single thing. And we still got to see so many celebrities! Ikept telling myself that I wouldn't go back next year, but I just might have to. I miss it already. Holy moly! That's scary! She could have lost a lot of skin doing that. I've been keeping track a little bit of how things are going with your new adventures. More power to you, woman. I know I wouldn't have the patience or strength or love to do what you're doing. I MISS YOUUUUU!! We need to meet up sometime. YES! Glad you had fun at Comic Con. Miss you too, muchacha.

Monnie bonnie! Love the opener. So how was San Diego? LOLA and all PR watchers - sorry I missed another Runway. Hard to say when I will get back to it, but I'm gonna try. TONIGHT'S DRAMA:The 14 yr old asked to use my gorilla glue for a craft she was doing. No problem; she is very talented with craft type stuff and it didn't worry me, so I told her "sure." However, unbeknownst to me, she decided to USE HER HAND to spread a huge glop of the stuff all over the back of a big piece of cardboard. So guess what? Her hand was covered in (foamed up and) hardened gorilla glue at the end of it all. We spent at least an hour getting it off. It involved nail polish remover, Lava soap, a soak in warm soapy water, and Vaseline. I think she learned her lesson. Spring, after many hard lessons I've found that the best way to remove gorilla glue (which I use for all sorts of construction stuff) is to cover it with duct tape while it's still tacky, leave it for about ten minutes, and peel off. The stuff crawls up surfaces, so if you use it you get it on your skin. And it eats nitrile gloves. Julia, but I love it, if holds like nothing ever else Thanks for the hint - I will keep this hint in mind, should she be so foolish as to do it again - which is not beyond the realm of possibility. The glue was hardened by the time I saw it - on the fingers, on the fingernails . . . so we had to go a different route. What an mess it was! At least she did not get the glue near the blistered and tender wart on her thumb, that she had had frozen the day before. (I had never seen that procedure done before - yikes!)

Michelle! Spring!! Gorilla glue crisis, eh? Tell her that next time, she better not monkey around. Heh! See what I did there? Gorilla? Monkey? Get it?? Ah, if only this witticism had occured to me. But no, I was too busy thinking "Oh PLEASE don't let this mean a trip to the emergency room!" and but acting non-chalant and saying "Oh, it'll come off . . . don't worry, it's nothing." I could just picture myself getting my fostering certification revoked because my older foster daughter had ended up with a skinless hand while in my care.

The girls are sleeping - at last.
I finally got the lawn mowed -whew. It was in DESPERATE need.
The girls and I did chores most of the day, with a few left for tomorrow.
Today's drama: The 14 yr old got stung by a bee while we were walking home from the nearby donut shop. She had only the most mild of skin reactions to it - very much like a mosquito bite - but was very upset and seemed near tears about it. This time, I did not have to fake the "don't worry, it is going to be OK" responses.

*sigh*
I hate the "same time next year" nature of our relationship with Garth and Pat and their kids. I can't wait until we're all retired and can travel/spend more time together/ visit at each other's houses.
Sam was here and sick, which was a bummer.
Julia, and Anna is in Idaho.

I am planning on doing as much of nothing today as I can, although chicken feeding and kittycat care is nonnegotiable.
Julia, awake because I hurt to much to sleep anymore.

Today I read a bunch of Stargate fic and got distracted trying to figure out if you could be vegetarian on MREs (answer: yes, in multiple countries, especially if you order the 'religious' packs). Also discovered that british army field rations look a lot like my breakfast. beans beans beans.

A big HI!!!!! and hug to everyone. Been absolutely wiped out at work. Getting a new person to take over some of the responsibilities that were dumped on me couple of years ago still hasn't cut down on the extra hours but at least I don;t go home quite as tired. Hope to be able to get back to catching up on all the s'cubie news and even posting soon. To add the the local news: "The Avengers" starts filming in downtown Cleveland tomorrow. There was even news today about a Whedon sighting yesterday while he checked out the closed-off/repurposed street that will be the scene of some of the shooting. Will try to advise of other Whedon-related news tips. (Sorry, Spring, no known meet and greet scheduled. We only wish.......) leftylady, who saw "Cowboys & Aliens" yesterday which only made me miss Firefly/Serenity all the more.

Lefty - and any other S'cubie who may have seen it - your thoughts on Cowboys and Aliens? Is it "age appropriate" for a 14 and 11yr old. It has a PG13 rating, which is so amibiguous to me! I've seen PG13s that mystify me as to "why the PG13, instead of G?" and others that mystify me as to "why the PG13, instead of R?"

Monnie's back! Monnie's back! Do you have lots of wonderful ComiCon stories? Did you meet lots of neat celebrities? Can I sit in your lap? No. Wait... Did you know that I'm going to DragonCon next month? Heh, it was a pretty laid back Comic Con for us, if such a thing exists. We did see quite a few celebs, though. I didn't know you were going to DragonCon. Enjoy!

SEE, I AM A VERY HELPFUL PERSON.
