OMG Olivier, Olivier, Olivier. You poor lil delusional lost lamb. Clueless! He's clueless!! and Yes, Kimberly's is probably my least fave look. Olivier just pissed me off. He acted like that poor guy was some kind of freak, when he was a normal sized (well, tall) dude. So, so true. Olivieriereireirer is majorly clueless and whiny and wow, I don't think I've ever seen Tim Gunn scoot the aufed contestant off to clean up his work area quite so abruptly before! Tim was obviously not a fan either! Kinda cracked me up.

Runway Rock and Roll! Team HarmonyAnthony Ryan - I idea is interesting and I do like the print he picked. But the fit is not good - esp on the pants. Anya - I actually think her idea was good and the end result actually kinda works, in a retro way. But I am impressed that she is so willing to point out what is bad about her own work! Laura - I like her outfit! The scarf thing is a tad cliche, but the rest of it actually works rather nicely, I think. Bert - This actually works rather nicely. I don't know how much the guy likes it, but I do. Again, a retro thing, but that fits with this team's "look". Team UntitledJoshua - I actually like the pants. From the front. He was right to have a zipper call attention to the crotch - very rock'n'roll. But those butt pockets? NO! No no no. The top, with the odd vesty thing? Not liking so much. Kimberly - Pants are decent. The shirt is ... well, not my favorite either, Kimberly. Definitely not of the good. Viktor - I like this. Very retro, very indeed. But I like his jacket and the "created" jeans are pretty good. Not sold on the shirt. Olivier - May have dodged a bullet that should have hit him. Those pants are actually looking not too bad (which is amazing considering where they started). The shirt wouldn't be as bad if it didn't have those pockets. What's with the ugly patch pockets, everyone? What gives? Now to post and listen to the judges shred these folks! They'll be WAY harder on the designers that I was. I think they're gonna go for Josh, but I liked both Bert and . . . the other guy, the one with the braided leather jacket, better. I agree with Nina about the braids being a good thing. Agree the front zipper for Josh was great, but the back pockets? No. And the vest - he never gets the "edit yourself" message. Way too much going on. Josh's back pants pockets were a close second to Oliveieriereireir's front shirt pockets.

Yes, Kimberly's is probably my least fave look. Olivier just pissed me off. He acted like that poor guy was some kind of freak, when he was a normal sized (well, tall) dude. I think that was the greatest difference between Olivier and Bert's looks: Bert looked at Ewan and saw a big tall sexy Viking and Olivier saw him as an inconvenient piece of furniture to upholster. I wonder if they'd been working as teams instead of as "teams" if the challenge would have worked out better for Olivier? The band's genre could have been better interpretted (ie not generic hippie but rather western or vintage military or space cowboy or something themed) or an appropriate stage-wear color scheme defined (which would have led away from Olivier's unfortunate commitment to neutrals) or someone could have beaten him over the head in Mood and redirected his attention away from swans and toward tropical prints or paisley or plaid. Of course the truth of the matter is that jam bands (and I suspect from the way the Sheepdogs' performance was muted and truncated that they're a jam band at heart) dress in jeans and generic Tshirts or interchangeable buttonups is that rock and roll performance is hard on clothing: abrasion from guitar straps and drum sets (there's a reason Flea performs shirtless) and insufficient turn-around time for proper laundry techniques makes it necessary to discard clothing pretty regularly. Julia, remembering Paul Revere and the Raiders and how fast they converted to jeans-and-tees under open military/marching band coats.

Dinner for 19.
Wow! Catering is the BEST! (Guy who does church luncheons let me order off the lunch menu -- much cheaper!) And the church is splitting the bill with me so probably cheaper than if I tried to make all this stuff by myself.
So the year started with the women's Christmas party last Dec. and this should be my last big social hosting (outside of family) for the foreseeable future.
Got to get back to my "training" tomorrow.

Dear Coach Franklin (new head coach at Vandy who was 3-0 and played ranked SC today): Sorry Vanderbilt did not have a SINGLE third down conversion until only 3 minutes were left in the game. And the they had 2 personal fouls for 15 yards each. A total of 80 yards of penalities which was more than our total offensive yardage for the whole game.
Really I've seen way worse scores than 21-3.
Sadly, next week is Alabama.

The weather broke in the night, for which I am sincerely grateful: when I went to bed last night, the RH in the study, up against a bank of very old very dry books, was 56% and outside had been running 80-85% and 75-80F; February in Texas, I know, but so very, very much not the weather of my people. Now it's in the upper 50's and breezy with occassional showers, and while I doubt it will persist at that description until late next May, the fact is: it could. Welcome to Western Washington.
Julia, please waterproof your hiking boots now.

New show alert:
I minutes into the pilot ep of "Person on Interest" and very interested.
I find Jim Caveziel and that guy from LOST (who I detested on that show) to both be very compelling. The idea is also interesting. Remains to be seen if it can continue to hold interest.
But unlike some pilots I'm not forcing myself to sit thru it and sign up for a couple more eps to "give it a chance."
On the other hand sometimes excellent premises don't play out. But the acting so far is very superior and the writing has been crisp. Especially liked the entire scene in the police station played out without words -- just glances. Quite good.

So, Caveziel: I find him terribly gorgeous, incredibly compelling and, in the role tremendously scary. Generalization so I don't believe it is a spoiler (besides we are several days out) but if you want to make up your own mind and not have my 1 sentence description: He's like a Jack Bauer for the "little guy" (vs. the entire country) but better looking with better writing and acting and way scarier. From the get go I believe he will do just about anything, which is disturbing. Very VERY "nothing to lose." But he does have the same "super powers" as Jack -- being able to do all sorts of stuff in very little time and get all banged up but be fine soon thereafter.

Oh, fer . The noisy neighbors are having a party, complete with screaming children. Their guests are parking all up and down the street in whatever spaces aren't taken by the family already. Said family has at least four cars, and no driveway, and they're apparently too important to park in the alley behind their granny flat, which, I believe, has a garage. Or perhaps that's where they keep all the other cars. I dunno. I'm sure their lousy teenage band will commence blasting shortly, just to make my headachy day complete. Who has a loud party on a Sunday afternoon/evening? Inconsiderate gits.
