Still pregnant. Getting crosser about it by the day. Three, count them, THREE, days late. Em came three days EARLY. So I've been pregnant nearly a week longer this time. Seconds are supposed to come sooner! Isn't Emily's birthday coming up soon? My boys were all born in June. The 6th, 19th and 26th. Parties were crazytime!! I hope today's the day! 9/6/2011 sounds like a good day to be born!

Julia, when Bjorn the cockerel crowed the eighteenth time I got out of bed in self defense Hey, you laugh: Bjorn is about 25 feet from my open bedroom window, and being out of bed with no rooster yelling in my ear is sometimes more restful than lying down Julia, if I were slightly more slatternly I'd go feed the chickens and tether Bacchus out in my nightgown and then go back to bed

5:55 AM. 74° by the patio thermometer. Bleah. Also, some friends who live across town, who pretty much dropped all contact with us last year, well, the husband called last night - they have to go out of state for a family funeral and could we please drive over and tend to their cat for three days, morning and evening. I don't mind driving across town to play with their cat, she's a lovely little part-'mese (probably much bigger by now), but I get the feeling that we now only exist when help is needed. Also I wasn't planning to go anywhere tomorrow, and now I have to drive over there, find a place to park in their complex, hike up the hill from visitor parking, hope I can remember how to walk the labyrinth to their apartment, and so on... Still and all, playing with cat, not a bad thing. I must be getting old, though, I get frantic if my plans for the week are disturbed, and they've been getting disturbed a lot lately.

Today is the day that the most exigent thing on my list is cutting my damned hair, which is so sub-burnt I can't get a comb through it, and has been badly cut so often that I need to spend an hour on it, dry cutting it in sections and then showering and washing it and correcting the cut and showering again.
Julia, I'd vastly prefer to get it cut in a beauty shop but can't walk downwind of one these days without ending up with a puking migraine

There, that's done. I got the strips cut for three more library drawers (three different Chiyogami and/or Yuzen prints) and, since I had the Japanese papers out anyway, the covers for this year's crop of stab-bound journals. I may start gluing tomorrow, time permitting. If not, it'll have to wait until next week. Lunch, then the slaying of more usefuls before the family starts staggering home.

Back from Dragoncon and EXHAUSTED!!
The Bobman is the BEST COMPANION EVAH!!! We weren't apart for more than the time it takes to go to the bathroom from Thursday night until I went to work this morning and we got on great!
Our hotel sucked. Enough about that.
We flew out of Houston at 6AM which meant getting to the airport at 4. He's wonderful. Gets up with a smile and by the time I'm out of the bathroom the bed was made and the bags were by the door waiting to go.
The flight was my favorite kind--uneventful.
This con is MASSIVE. This year's attendance exceeded 45,000 people. You name the fandom, it was there. I saw multiple Doctors, some accompanied by Daleks or TARDISes--fully robotic or human. There were Transformers, Green Lanterns, Wonder Women, Spidermen, Supermen, Ewoks, Predators and Aliens. There were Anime characters by the dozen.
I attended two True Blood panels, but the only Buffy panel was held before we were able to get there, so I missed JM and NB (DRAT!) At the banquet we sat two tables away from Kate Mulgrew and William Shatner. Sadly, my phone camera made a royal mess of all the most important photos. September 3rd was named William Shatner Day in Atlanta. I was also a couple of tables from Charlaine Harris and Laurel Hamilton. There were authors, comic artists and screenwriters present.
We were disappointed in the panel discussing The Hobbit. There wasn't anyone there who knew anything. Just a bunch of bloggers and a lot of speculation.
Bob wanted to attend the psychic panel, so despite my trepidation (strong psychic energy burns and sometimes disorients me) we went. The lady (whose name I forget) was a loudmouth who had been on shows like ghostbusters. She gets good vibes, but interprets them badly. I bit my tongue a few times while I heard her misinform confused querants. She told one lady that she saw a white dog. The poor woman looked confused because she didn't have and never owned a dog. I knew if I butted in that my input would not be welcome, but fer petezakes--a white dog is a symbol of fidelity and trust.
Well, my fingertips began burning so I knew a psychic was in the room, but it sure wasn't that lady. It was untrained and completely undisciplined. I kept casting around trying to find the source. Finally, Bob agreed it was time to get out of there. As we turned to leave, a lady sitting three rows back from us asked me, "Do I know you?"
I found my untrained psychic.
Did we have fun? You bet.
Would I go again? Maybe---but I'd do it very differently.
