Welcome to Part 1134 of the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread.
We may not exterminate you, but we will give you the angry eyestalk glare if spoilers go anywhere but Spoiled Souls; if you want to talk on the main thread about a show just aired or casting news, etc, just highlight what you've written click the ghost-y looking button above the message area...
Our main thread is a veritable potpourri of topics. Except for a few: religion (like the Dalek Emperor), politics (which is the Dalek-backed candidate), and plans for world domination (ongoing). For that, we've got the Open Topics Thread!
POST!

Erin, if I'd had any food or drink in my mouth I'd have been cleaning it off my laptop the moment I saw your new name.

Heh, Daleks. I've had days like that... Well, it turns out I was mistaken - it's not the neighbors two doors down having a party this time, it's the ones right next door. So no teenage band, but the strong probability of high-intensity security lights at precisely the right height and angle to shine across the head of our bed, left on all night. Well, that's why we're cultivating that stand of bamboo on our side of the fence, and the nice leafy tree outside the bedroom window, even if mysterious creatures climb up and down it in the middle of the night. I comfort myself by imagining the electric bill they must have, because they also run their a/c all day and night, and also their water bill, because their backyard sprinklers run morning and evening, every day, rain or shine. Sometimes one just has to get one's vengeance demon on. I've got a little list... Daleks, ho!

POST! Heh. Home from out-to-dinner i service of my 29th wedding anniversary. OMG how did that happen? We decided to break out of the mold and have something other than Mexican, Thai, Indian or Cinease, and went to the Martin Way diner, where, seventy years ago when it was the Triple X Rootbeer Drive-in, and she was 14, my Aunt Nora had her first job; it was the Rib Eye forever and is now the Martin Way Diner, where the special tonight was Coq au Vin but we had steaks. The fries have gotten MUCH better, although the ones back in the 50s when it was still a Rootbeer joint were pretty darned good. Julia, v. busy day.

Pan Am first scene: in media res, and no visits from the Exposition Fairy, praise be.
Julia, wishes Ringer had done as well.

JUlia mentioned Pam Am. Didn't record that one. Had to make an executive decision on just how many new shows we could try to squeeze in.
Trying 4: Ringer (not sure I will make it thru ep 3 want to say it's a cut right now.) Person of Interest (see below, definite possibilities) Prime Suspect (have watched yet) Terra Nova (suspect it will get cut but trying not to pre-judge)
That's all we have time to add on top of carryover shows, sports, news, BBC, Discovery, Science, History stuff the Jim records. And with Allie around we record her shows (mostly sitcoms and Drop Dead Diva even though she could watch them on her computer). And JIm records a lot of movies he thinks that he and Allie will watch together but she's out so much and by the time she's ready to watch a movies (9 or later) he's mostly aslelep in his chair.)
but I digress, I've copied over the posts from the last part, no time to edit because I have appts early today:
GYN, mammogram, blood draw and deliver 2 baby meals (St. B's has a LOT of pregnant women!). Fortunately I had leftovers from Sat. night worthy of making meals for new moms. Gotta run.
New show alert:
10 minutes into the pilot ep of "Person on Interest" and very interested.
I find Jim Caveziel and that guy from LOST (who I detested on that show) to both be very compelling. The idea is also interesting. Remains to be seen if it can continue to hold interest.
But unlike some pilots I'm not forcing myself to sit thru it and sign up for a couple more eps to "give it a chance."
On the other hand sometimes excellent premises don't play out. But the acting so far is very superior and the writing has been crisp. Especially liked the entire scene in the police station played out without words -- just glances. Quite good.
So, Caveziel: I find him terribly gorgeous, incredibly compelling and, in the role tremendously scary.
Generalization so I don't believe it is a spoiler (besides we are several days out) but if you want to make up your own mind and not have my 1 sentence description:
Spoiler: He's like a Jack Bauer for the "little guy" (vs. the entire country) but better looking with better writing and acting and way scarier. From the get go I believe he will do just about anything, which is disturbing. Very VERY "nothing to lose." But he does have the same "super powers" as Jack -- being able to do all sorts of stuff in very little time and get all banged up but be fine soon thereafter.

Tired. Crazy going on at work!
Will likely be retiring by end of calendar year. Can't take much more.
Girls doing well. Uncertain about the future, but that is OK.

What a coincidence? I'm unlikey to watch Terra Nova as it hits my unkink for post-apocalyptic settings really hard. Ringer is in danger of being off-limits to my recovering soap addict status, and I keep forgetting Person of Interest is on. Franklin and I have talked about Prime Suspect and decided we are Helen Mirren fundamentalists. On the other hand, Fringe, OMG Fringe, what a great start to the season, even if they did killJoe Flanigan in the first ten minutes. Julia, should discuss that in the TV thread but must get dressed and go batten down the chicken hatches (heh heh, get it?) in case they're right and the wind will be blowing a gale this afternoon.
