JUlia mentioned Pam Am. Didn't record that one. Had to make an executive decision on just how many new shows we could try to squeeze in. Trying 4: Ringer (not sure I will make it thru ep 3 want to say it's a cut right now.) Person of Interest (see below, definite possibilities) Prime Suspect (have watched yet) Terra Nova (suspect it will get cut but trying not to pre-judge) That's all we have time to add on top of carryover shows, sports, news, BBC, Discovery, Science, History stuff the Jim records. And with Allie around we record her shows (mostly sitcoms and Drop Dead Diva even though she could watch them on her computer). And JIm records a lot of movies he thinks that he and Allie will watch together but she's out so much and by the time she's ready to watch a movies (9 or later) he's mostly aslelep in his chair.) but I digress, I've copied over the posts from the last part, no time to edit because I have appts early today: GYN, mammogram, blood draw and deliver 2 baby meals (St. B's has a LOT of pregnant women!). Fortunately I had leftovers from Sat. night worthy of making meals for new moms. Gotta run. New show alert: 10 minutes into the pilot ep of "Person on Interest" and very interested. I find Jim Caveziel and that guy from LOST (who I detested on that show) to both be very compelling. The idea is also interesting. Remains to be seen if it can continue to hold interest. But unlike some pilots I'm not forcing myself to sit thru it and sign up for a couple more eps to "give it a chance." On the other hand sometimes excellent premises don't play out. But the acting so far is very superior and the writing has been crisp. Especially liked the entire scene in the police station played out without words -- just glances. Quite good. So, Caveziel: I find him terribly gorgeous, incredibly compelling and, in the role tremendously scary. Generalization so I don't believe it is a spoiler (besides we are several days out) but if you want to make up your own mind and not have my 1 sentence description: Spoiler: He's like a Jack Bauer for the "little guy" (vs. the entire country) but better looking with better writing and acting and way scarier. From the get go I believe he will do just about anything, which is disturbing. Very VERY "nothing to lose." But he does have the same "super powers" as Jack -- being able to do all sorts of stuff in very little time and get all banged up but be fine soon thereafter. Glad you are enjoying Caveizel. That guy's excellent in everything he does. And he doesn't get as much work as he probably could since he's very selective about what roles he takes (moral grounds), so it's always a treat when he does appear in something. I'm enjoying hearing about your opinion of the various shows, as it helps me know which shows are probably going to be worth catching up on later. Which is fascinating since the character has, at least as we know so far, a very unique moral code. (Help the good guys, get the bad guys -- but no worries re warrants, judge, jury, legal system, etc. Aka: Jack Bauer.

And, again my petty annoyances are put in place:
Tom's apt was broken into while he was in the shower. The "good" news is that even tho they cut his ethernet cord, dumped some clothes out of a bag, put both his work and personal laptops into the bag -- they left it on the kitchen counter. Maybe he(?) heard Tom getting out of the shower and just fled?
His bike was moved from the living room to the kitchen (there is a back door there, one floor up). His wallet was left untouched next to his TV (too large for one person).
The only thing he is sure is missing is his work I-phone. So he's gone online and reported it and had it "locked."
But .... scary.

I hope Joss gets very very rich.
From Amazon:
Dear Customer,
I have big news for Amazon Prime members - we've just signed a deal with FOX to add a broad selection of movies and TV shows to our unlimited instant streaming service later this fall. The new additions from the FOX library include 24, Arrested Development, The X-Files, Ally McBeal, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and - available on digital video for the first time - The Wonder Years. We now have deals with CBS, NBCUniversal, Sony, and Warner Bros, and adding FOX will bring the total to more than 11,000 movies and TV shows available for unlimited instant streaming.

But .... scary. I came home from the bar one December night (where I'd been listening to Celtic music and eating pizza, both made by friends) and walked in on a burglar who threw a stereo speaker at me and took off: the worst thing they stole was my brand new down comforter. Julia, not a grand experience.

Some days it really isn't worth getting out of bed. I was hoping today would not be one of them, but so far the evidence is not good.
Julia, and yes, I'm sorry Tom got burglarized, isn't that implicit in my story of a similar event?

Julia, and yes, I'm sorry Tom got burglarized, isn't that implicit in my story of a similar event? Well, that's what I thought you meant by it. I'm sorry you're having a sucky day (indeed, a series of them), and I hope things improve for you. *gentle hug*

And pain, which today is concentrated in my index fingers what makes EVERYTHING more difficult, although getting dressed is 100% as bad as it gets. Julia, which explains why I'm sitting here in my bathrobe.

Julia, and yes, I'm sorry Tom got burglarized, isn't that implicit in my story of a similar event? Yes, I understood that you were comiserating. Actually, we got buglarized twice when he was young. Once he was only 4 and he and I arrived home to find the door between the garage and house busted open with a crowbar. REally stupid me went on in and looked around (there were no cars around and it was not a location that lent itself to foot traffic). But it made a much bigger impression on him than I realized until years later when he told his first grade teacher about it. Sadly, they took some sentimental jewelry. Then we had a break-in years later. We think it was local high school kids. Ripped off some small electronics. So he knows the feeling. Carolyn went online and bought renter's insurance today with riders for her computer and camera. Mostly buying peace of mind I think. She had her bike stolen from the basement storage room last year.

Clever name, Anne. How in heaven's name do you get the R to turn backwards?

We were burglarized when I was in college; they took an old single-shot deer rifle that Dad had stopped using because the barrel had gotten bent, a mounted black bear skin from one of the bears Dad shot the day Kennedy was assasinated, our nearly new color television, and my Mother's collection of silver dollars that she'd had given to her starting when she was born, including one that would be worth a thousand dollars now. The only thing that the insurance covered was the television and the face value of the coins- firearms were speifically excluded and the bearskin had no commercial value, according to them. The first night we slept at this address, someone came into our first house and stole what we hadn't moved yet, including a locked four-drawer file cabinet with all my wedding stuff, including a bunch of thank-you notes that hadn't been mailed for want of money for postage, the notes for my proposed MA thesis, and the field notes for a botanical and ecological survey of the Nisqually Res plus about twenty pages of the write-up and analysis. Not insurable, any of that. Terribly inconvenient to lose. Also my high-tech waterbed. And the beautiful carpenter's tool chest we inherited from Franklin's mother. Julia, nothing since, but that was bad enough to be going on with. Burglars are bastards.

So wedding plans progress.
Sarah wants BBQ for their reception. Brilliant! BBQ, spareribs, blackened salmon, cole slaw, beans and mac and cheese! Mac and cheese at their wedding reception! I love that girl.
[Except the part where they are getting vinegar based cole-slaw instead of creamy. Well, no one is perfect.]
And, the caterer has agreed to serve hors duoerves (?) provided by friends of the family for no extra charge. Some of the Songs church friends want to give them Korean hors d's for the reception as their wedding gift.
Cool huh?
