Home is the Husband, home from... Kelso. By way of Pahrump, Nevada. He drove to the desert, spent Thursday night in a motel (with slot machines in the lobby) in Pahrump, drove to Kelso this morning and thence home. No, he didn't want me along (it was a guy journey thing), and I couldn't have gone anyway, because I had to drive the Elder Daughter to the doctor this morning, because public transit doesn't go that far north, by several miles. He had fun, that's what counts. Huh. I was thinking "What was he doing in Kelso; is his company bidding on the repaint of the Lewis and Clark bridge? Although I knew there was also a Kelso they were both named after, probably because we got lost there once. I need to go shower and dress and feed chooks and get ready for a lightening fast shopping trip with Anna while Bailey is at work from noon to four (making the best subs in town on New Year's Eve: can you say "infinite party trays?") and Franklin can watch football if he wants but he needs to vacuum the living room while he does it. Julia, looking toward a New Year Indeed, with both offspring living elsewhere. No, this was purely recreational. I'm envious; I didn't even get my morning with the house to myself, because Katherine decided she didn't want to go to the aquarium. Oh well, this too shall pass, the daughters' colleges both start up again on 23 January, so I'll have a few hours four days a week to myself, anyway. Anne, there is such a thing as too much family togetherness, and I've got it

Can I get some more S'cubie vibes? There's a great job, working with people whose theories were instrumental in my thesis, but certain factors (like letters) may tank it before it begins. Can you guys just keep your fingers crossed everything gets there on time, and then, if you've got any to spare, that I actually get the job? Seriously, this whole process makes me feel about an inch high. Or maybe like the ugliest and dumbest puppy at the pound, that keeps getting passed over for cuter, smarter dogs. My strongest, bestest, most positive vibes are being sent your way, Dr. E!!

I think I need a hug. I've been feeling like impending doom all day, like I'm on the verge of a panic attack, like something big is going to go wrong. I have no idea why, but it's not fun and I can't seem to shake it off. and Sip some tea and read a comforting book.

Back in Colorado after a week in the mitten visiting family. It was great seeing everyone again! It's hard being back to just me in my lonely apartment. But! I hope everyone here has a wonderful New Year!

Happy New Year, everybody! May 2012 be better than 2011. Eetah to that. We are celebrating on the East Coast schedule because none of us feel like staying up until midnight. The daughters (re)watched the Lemony Snicket movie; Husband and I watched a wonderfully awful thing I DVR'd earlier in the week, Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D.. Younger Daughter can watch it later on her own. I anticipate gales of giggles... The policeman who wanders into the TARDIS at the beginning of the film looked and sounded (I'm better with voices than faces) oddly familiar. Turned out to be Bernard Cribbins, Donna's grandfather in the Tennant era.

Happy New Year, and may all y'all have a year of delightful and enriching surprises/the fruition of things you have longed planned for and wished after, or other positive outcomes to your needs and tastes.
Julia, trying to be inclusive
