Well, I've gotten two more applications out today: one to Chicago and one to New York City. I've got two more due at the end of Jan/beginning of February; hopefully I'll get those out this week too. Of course, if I got the NYC job I've no idea how I'd afford to live there, but... *vibing like crazy* Sending assistant vibes.

I'm sorry things are still so challenging, but I'm glad you checked it. Yup, I'm out of milk for my morning coffee, I just found out Ben Browder was on Chuck Friday and I missed it and the driveway has reached the point that we can't even walk down to the car, ugh. Thanks for the good thoughts, I myself am finding my resolve never to move to a place where it does this regularly strengthened. Julia, the temp in the study has soared to 66.2 FYAY! Glad you came through.

Hee! That's awesome. I actually have a good number of my Sassys still, including the Kurt/Courtney cover, which arrived just in time for my 18th birthday. If you ever want one of those recipes, let me know. As for the other, well... I'm on the fence. See, I finished my thesis, but apparently I'm insane, because I followed it up with another long project. A novel, actually. I finished the first draft, and am working on the second draft... The thing is, this is actually the fourth novel I've written, and I've never shown any of them to anyone. Which is dumb. So I've been debating asking S'cubies if they'd read a draft and give me a hard-nosed critique, to tell me if it sucks, how it sucks, etc.* Because if it just goes into another drawer, how would I get any better at it? Anyway, that's the possible eventual favor I'm thinking of springing on you lovely people. *OK, I know HOW it sucks right now, hence the revising. Hmmmm. Sounds interesting! How would you imagine sharing it? I wonder if Vlad would let me make a page off the . . . Spikecentricity space, say, to post it? I could put the URL in the Admin thread . . .I also have some free web space at the University it could be posted to - again, only those with the URL would see it. It wouldn't actually be secure, as in "you need a password to access it." But it would be pretty unlikely for anyone to stumble on it . . . Well, lemme know if you need any help in that area.

Back from Clockwork Con. We had a BLAST! I was too tired to catch up and even PR will have to wait a bit. However, I had to drop this in for you. Presenting H.R.M. Victoria R., Queen of England, the British Empire and Empress of India and her equerry Mr. J. Brown: awesome picture Ditto, Diane.

Thanks, sweetie. I'm a bit flummoxed by one job app. I got one of those got your app/EEOE forms to fill out for a job I applied for last month, but I know they've already done Skype interviews and are arranging campus visits. Not sure if it's a good sign, or just an oversight. Would be fantastic if it was the former, but I'm not betting on it.

Yesterday, I did all the usual, backwards and in heels while walking on ice, and also put pea gravel doen the driveway so I could push the wheelbarrow filled with heavy/ essential groceries up the driveway. Would that I'd had the energy to flatten the ice ridges between footprints or even better the foresight not to create them, but there y'go. Pushing the wheelbarrow up the hill and then getting out of bed this morning is some sort of index of how much of my upper-body strength I've recovered. Anyway, I've finally taken a photo of the driveway which almost communicates how very horrible it is; mind, this was taken below the top right angle turn, the foot deep top side drain, and the first six feet of drop... It looks way too much like the trail to Camp Muir right now. *sends warm hugs and warmer vibes*

Well, I got my once-a-day-minimum walkies in after all - if I can pick myself up after the daily Aged Mum phone conversation, it's still light enough to walk up to the shopping center, and today is farmers' market day. Black currant tea and black currant chocolate for the Younger Daughter from Cost Plus (yes, she likes their black currant jam too), sourdough bread and challah from the bakery people, and a basket of local-ish strawberries. After a cold and rainy weekend, we're heading into a Santa Ana condition again, for at least the next five days - lows in the mid-40s, highs in the lmid-80s. There go my sinuses. Southern California. Ooh, and this morning I scored at one of the local thrift shops - a furoshiki printed with Hokusai's Great Wave, for six bucks, just like the one I saw at the Japanese shop in Costa Mesa, for $35. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, but I may just frame it and hang it someplace for while. I love Japanese art, and that's one of my favorite images.

Our Office of Institutional Equity would send these out to anyone whose app met minimum qualifications (i.e., wasn't automatically excluded). Timing on it could be pretty erratic.

Anne, this is at the furthest southern point of the Salish Sea, at 4th and Water in Downtown Olympia and about six inches above the maximum high tide mark: Julia, waiting to start the peas for other people's dinner.

Thank you, that's wonderful! I need a t-shirt with the Great Wave, or maybe a sweatshirt, I could use another of those... I must go questing sometime.

If it's in Word format, it will go on a Kindle. You can't archive it, but it will stay on the menu until deleted. I do have a Kindle and would love to read it.
