So, I'm studying in my room a little while ago, when all of a sudden, a shock wave type sensation blows through the convent. And I'm thinking, "If I were still living in CA, I would have thought that was an earthquake." ("The convent is haunted" thought passed through my mind, too. ) Then a while later, I check facebook and see chatter from my friends in the area, and realize that it actually was an earthquake. In Whitesburg, KY, 4.3 less than 30 miles from here. That's the difference between old terraines and new ones: a 4.3 30 miles from here wouldn't have much transferred motion unless it was east or south; 30 miles north is isoloated by other faults. Julia, a 4.3 twenty miles from me in any direction would knock things off shelves, though

Castle.! That song at the end, was that Shatner? Because it sure sounded like Shatner to me, and I know he did an album once. ETA: Yep, according to IMDB, it was. Also, here is some other fun from the episode. The writers didn't miss a trick. Help, Paul is watching the five hours of election coverage on CNN that he asked me to record on Tuesday evening. Eeeee, run away, run away! Wait, really? He does know who won and everything, right?

A good day at the faire. A new corset that needs some adjustment but looks good. Scooters rock. Lots of hugs from old friends.
Bob wants to bring the Queen and Mr Brown to faire next week. Logistical problems abound:
1. Driving up in the crown is tricky because it's too tall, but can't put it on anywhere but home due to its multiple hatpins that I prefer to NOT drive into my skull.
2. Large skirts don't fit well in a Hyndai.
3. Large skirts are also hard to navigate in crowds and worse sitting on a scooter. I want to really rock this and the scooter also ruins the queen's look. The alternative, walking, means a LOT of pain in feet and back. I will have to hold court from tree circle to tree circle.
OTOH, it will be an excellent tryout for Dickens on the Strand in December. It will bring to Queen to the attention of a LOT of people.
Opinions?

I'm afraid there is no real help for this, though I send you some S'cubie vibes. Paul's always been a politics junky, it's just become more evident as he gets older. His custom is to stay up late the night of a major election (presidential and midterms) or primary (usually Super Tuesday) and take the next day off to watch results-analyses. This time he sat there with the remote, switching from MSNBC to CNBC to CNN (which we were recording) to CSPAN to Fox News, with an occasional look-in at PBS... At least he brought us home Yoshinoya takeout for dinner, and he did emerge from his comfy chair long enough to pick Emily up at 9:45, it being a Tuesday. He was happy as a pig in mud. It could be worse; it could be hockey.

Hi all. I haven't been here in a long time, but I decided it was time for a fresh Buffy viewing starting with Season 1. Have you guys done a group viewing lately? Any interest in one? Of course, it doesn't have to start with S1.

At least this one's pretty harmless unless he's gone extremist and is threatening to blow up the screen every time he sees something he doesn't like.

Nah, usually he either gets mad and starts punching the air and grumbling, or he dozes off and snores. He still hasn't finished watching the five hour CNNathon.

After I saw Paul off to work, I decided that I don't feel well, again, and I don' wanna do anything. I have therefore declared today a sick day. The girls are both off today, so I got Kitty to help with the wash, and I'm still in my jammies and bathrobe and slippers.
Maybe later I'll sew the new buttons on my new batik tops, or maybe I'll just read. I finished the biography of Rachel Carson this morning, and there's still another library book to read, or I could continue with the reread of All the Discworld Books.
Which reminds me that I ran across a couple of concepts in Discworld books that reminded me of specific Dr Who things, but then, it wouldn't surprise me if the Dr Who writers were Terry Pratchett fans. Maybe when I'm feeling better, and I can figure out which thread to put them in (two different episodes at least), I'll do a little writeup. It's not much, but it was sort of a "oh, look at that" moment or two.
