Ouch. All the diodes on my left side hurt, and I don't even know what I did. As I was helping Emily finish up the dinner, my back spasmed big time. I held onto the counter and tried not to move while she ran to the bathroom for my mega-ibuprofen. Then I staggered into the den and got down on the floor and tried slow careful stretches of various sorts. The cat back-arching one seemed to loosen things up best. Patches wanted to know what I was doing, and if she could play too. Nothing like having a fluffycat rubbing around your nethers while you're trying to stretch out a major back cramp. At least she didn't jump on my back. Thank Science for modern painkillers, I say. Also I'm going to take a little brandy before bedtime, or maybe some of that spiced rum Paul bought. And Emily's going to bring the front bathroom laundry hamper out tonight, before she goes to bed. Paul usually gets the back one out for me in the morning. I'm going to have to be very careful about my back for the next day or so. Great.

Hi all. I haven't been here in a long time, but I decided it was time for a fresh Buffy viewing starting with Season 1. Have you guys done a group viewing lately? Any interest in one? Of course, it doesn't have to start with S1. LMF! Have missed you!. Wouldn't mind a viewing esp. if everyone wants to join in. What's new? How've you been doing? How's Firefly? I'm pretty good despite the fact that this is the time of year my fibromyalgia gets sharply worse. Firefly is excellent. She just made honor roll in the 4th grade. She's growing by leaps and bounds - she's already 4' 11"! Here's a semi-recent pic of her with a new member of our family. His name is Moses. We eventually got him a buddy named Cocoa. G]

Apropos of nothing, I thought I'd share this, because it made me grin; it's a Sherlock vid, to the tune of "Something There" from Beauty and the Beast. Really, anything that features Mycroft as Cogsworth is a win for me.

A good day at the faire. A new corset that needs some adjustment but looks good. Scooters rock. Lots of hugs from old friends. Bob wants to bring the Queen and Mr Brown to faire next week. Logistical problems abound: 1. Driving up in the crown is tricky because it's too tall, but can't put it on anywhere but home due to its multiple hatpins that I prefer to NOT drive into my skull. 2. Large skirts don't fit well in a Hyndai. 3. Large skirts are also hard to navigate in crowds and worse sitting on a scooter. I want to really rock this and the scooter also ruins the queen's look. The alternative, walking, means a LOT of pain in feet and back. I will have to hold court from tree circle to tree circle. OTOH, it will be an excellent tryout for Dickens on the Strand in December. It will bring to Queen to the attention of a LOT of people. Opinions? Don't suppose you have a carriage or something?

I frequently use car windows for veil and wimple adjustments. 2) I assume the Skirts are separate from your bodice? My recollection of Victorian wear is thin. Is it possible to just bring the skirts and put them on at the fair? Wear the Upper half loosely and a pair of loose sweats over the undergarments and put the skirts on when you get there and slip off the sweats under the skirt. Alternately, rent a bigger car for the day to solve both problems? 3) Are you or the Bobman handy with tools and a bit of carpentry? I have documentation around here somewhere for a 16th or 17th century wheeled chair if the Bobman was willing to push it through the faire.

Four day weekend here, which means I've been doing twice the work every day- although I'm finally caught up on buying stuff like exterior-use light bulbs and assorted plumbing repair bits, et'c. Yesterday was particularly strenuous, as it included chicken and sheep chores, chasing cattle, the sheep getting all sideways at the end of the day and needing controlled with a properly applied (that is, hooked into his horns) bow rake, and then a jaunt to Freddie's for the aforementioned exterior lighting, plumbing parts, and other random stuff.
And then Ruby decided she needed out at one hour and five minutes before my alarm went off, heigh-ho!
(And it was a miserable downer of a H50 last night, with lots of blood and New Jersey).

It will bring to Queen to the attention of a LOT of people. Opinions? Don't suppose you have a carriage or something? We're designing a self-propelled throne but it won't be ready until later next year. Sadly, no carriage. 1) Bring a hand Mirror for the Bobman to hold for you while you put on your crown? I frequently use car windows for veil and wimple adjustments. 2) I assume the Skirts are separate from your bodice? My recollection of Victorian wear is thin. Is it possible to just bring the skirts and put them on at the fair? I have documentation around here somewhere for a 16th or 17th century wheeled chair if the Bobman was willing to push it through the faire. I would very much like to see said documentation. It may help us in the designing of our dream self-propelled, steam-powered throne. I don't think the hand mirror plan will work. The Queen's widow's cap is a little more complex than an wimple, a modification of which I wore with a truncated hennin in 2009. That was easy. The queen's headgear has the miniature crown sewn on and is tremendously topheavy. It takes two combs and half a dozen hatpins to secure this little beastie so that I don't feel like I'm going all Poseidon Adventure. Putting on of hat is always accompanied by a stream of language that the real queen would NOT find amusing. Also, the Bobman never holds the mirror steady.

I suppose I should be thankful that Ruby didn't wake me up until 7:40 this morning, although she apparently did it because the cats were hungry and not because she needed out, so, oh, well, I'm trying to figure out if I justified my existence yesterday: I did finish a storage conversion (took down hanging shelves, moved the hanging rod 4" to accomodate coat hangers, hung up the coat and jackets I wear most frequently) and complete two loads of laundry, also fed the sheep and made sure all the chickens had clean water and feed for the day, but that was about it. Oh, wait, no, sorted a bunch of beads into better storage containers. I did not sweep, vacuum, or mop the floor where Ruby tends to leak from both ends, and did not attack the giant sack o'socks which needs distributed into four lingerie bags for proper washing. I did not cook actual new food for dinner (I did make won ton soup for lunch, thanks to TJ's mini chicken-cilantro wontons and my insistance on having chicken broth, fish sauce, sesame oil, srirachacha and bagged frozen spinach in the house: I'm out of limes, though, so it was imperfect). And let the dogs in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out... Julia, I suspect I may have awakened The Beast myself yelling "bad dog!" in my sleep, as I was dreaming that we were visiting Sam and his Annie (and isn't THAT confusing!) and Griz had just eaten their pet mice (which they do not have, just two cats).

I came, I saw, I slayed... the usefuls. I've gone for two shopping center walks this morning. Among other things, I got Paul a rooster sauce cookbook (we had a Cost Plus coupon), which I've stashed until Winter Solstice rolls around. I've got all the bits for the stab-bound journals cut out, and I drilled and tied the page blocks. The next several stages all involve glue, so I think that'll be it for the day. Maybe after lunch I'll choose the colors of perle cotton for binding the books, so I can get that hatbox off the floor; the studio is tiny enough as it is.

On a scale of 1 to 10 this doesn't even merit decimals but .... sigh ... managed to leave 2 bags of groceries behind at the store 5 miles away (I don't know, maybe I can do it in a 20 min round trip, 25 tops). But that's not the point. Left the house at 7:30 for 2 doc appts followed by 7 other errands and arrived home at 2 pm to find groceries left behind. Best guess is that they started loading one cart and then as I emptied mine and pushed it forward they started loading into mine and nobody noticed the 2nd cart.
If that's my worst problem ....
Probably wouldn't but me so much if I didn't have tomorrow planned out from 8 am until 10 pm (really, morning events, afternoon, event and 2 evening events with Jim). Not my kind of day.
So I shall have to gird up my loins and drive back out later, maybe after the evening rush clears.
Off to count all the good things in my life.
