We watched the Leverage finale. It was perfect. They really had us worried for a while there, but the con ran pretty deep, and it did work out in the end.
I got sniffly when Nate proposed to Sophie, or Lara, or whatever her name is, and all awwww over Eliot finding what he was looking for. And the last bit, with Parker channeling Nate, and Hardison and Eliot as her backup, was a thing of beauty. I'm really going to miss my show, but boy, did they know how to go out on a high note.

It's aired so the spoiler mask isn't necessary anymore. I loved how much Parker has grown over the run of the show. ITA with how perfectly they ended it but I'm going to miss both the show and Eliot's long hair. Guess I just got used to it.

I was just being polite; it took us a couple of days to find time to watch the finale, so I figured there might be a few people out there who hadn't managed to see it yet. Also I got yelled at a time or two for so much as mentioning things like "there's a new episode of X next week, did you see the trailer", or even discussing something that had aired a few days before without hiding the discussion. So I'm cautious. Discretion is the better part of not getting yelled at, and all that...

So I'm cautious. Discretion is the better part of not getting yelled at, and all that... Well, thanks for the thoughtfulness -- I have not seen it yet. But I'd survive either way (not sweating the small stuff, dontchaknow) Going on 9 days of guest (well, kids), reached a high of 7 for 2 nights now down to just 4 extras but that is 200% more laundry, dishes, showers, groceries, hot water, etc than just Jim and I (more like 300-400 per cent given that a few of the kids are far more high maintenance that either Jim or I). It's been great. But Allie and Andrew were both really sick with colds and way less sorting and packing got done so she's a bit stressed right now. Wedding shower tomorrow morning. Truck loading but Tom, Sarah and Carolyn have to get on the road to Chicago right after the shower. Jim will be trying to be helpful -- which stresses all of us out because he WANTS so much to be helpful so being put off is hard for him but sometimes the kids just prefer that we stay out of the way. Once they leave we'll probably continue, sorting, packing, loading (which would have been so much easier to do with lots of young folk to help but oh, well). Church in the morning and leave from there to VA. Guess my major task for the rest of the day is make sure I have all maps and directions printed out. Did confirm height of truck vs height of Lincoln Tunnel and Queensboro bridge. What an adventure. Hopefully my last time doing anything remotely like this. Carolyn is clearly anticipating a proposal from Blaine but no way of knowing if it will be New Year's or next summer --- grrrrr argh.

Heydiho: fasting blood draw this morning, feel equal parts exhausted and intoxicated but went out and fed sheep and chickens in fasting state while wearing my bifocals and am now sitting here wondering how I survived walking down the back steps in that state. Note on the results of getting rid of nasty rumbling infection: finished a dozen stitch-markers yesterday (these for DILTB Annie) and not only did I not awake in the middle of the night from the pain in my hands, there's not even a tiny lingering ouch this morning. There are some great stories in this year's Yuletide Collection; my favorite, so far, is a Sling's and Arrow's story called "Legacy." Julia, probably need to go sort tights and socks and get some laundry started, eh?

So glad to hear positive results from infection-slaying. reminding myself of the upside of kids all living long distance away: once we DO get this stuff moved it will never involve me again. (Although if Allie takes more than half I'll be stunned.)

Some costume repair underway, but mostly laundry. The Gray Ball is three weeks away and I'm just not getting much done. Inertia, I don't mind you so much except for the...y'know...guilt.

I am so used to the quiet and non-busyness (even Jim is gone half the time) that this constant hum of busyness is ..... fun in small doses but wearying eventually.

*hugs S'cubies, refills basket of brackets for any who wander into the Thrall Room later*
Today was nice - Husband and I went thrift-shopping, to a big thrift shop I don't get to very often, and to my favorite little one in Fullerton. Himself was looking for a new winter jacket. At the big ARC thrift shop, he found a sort of baseball jacket, in really soft suede, almost new for $13. I found him wandering the aisles with it on. He put it back, but he kept going back to look at it even after I found him a khaki cotton nylon lined windbreaker for $2.50 on sale. I could tell that the baseball jacket had called him by his true name, so eventually I suggested that he could wear it to Nebraska, if that business trip actually happens. That settled it. He wore the suede jacket up to the movie theater to see Les Miserables. It's too big, but that just means he can layer sweaters under it or something. He was so happy, silly boy, it was just adorable.
Anyway, I found a couple of little things at the other thrift shop, and he found a 1932 treatise on the English novel, and then we went to the library, where I got an annotated Mother Goose at the Friends of the Library bookstore. So fun was had, and the daughters kept the laundry going while we were gone.
We are currently monitoring the temperature in two spots in the backyard. It is as I suspected; the center of the back yard behind the house is a dead-air spot, or something; it's ten degrees colder than the area along the south fence where the other probe is. Well, that explains the circle of frost this morning, anyway.
Good night, S'cubies, sweet dreams.

Twenty five most powerful shows of the last 5 yrs . . . shared by Michelle on Twitter: www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/146530BTW: I joined Twitter. It is OK. I am not sure I really "get it," as in what exactly it is supposed to add to my life. You can't have substantiative discussion. The one "thread" moves so fast you can't keep up, and I am currenlty following only 9 people, mostly S'cubies . . . and they follow hundreds. I like FB or the board better, because you can actually discuss something, and it is more about sharing than broadcasting. But we'll see.

I like FB or the board better, because you can actually discuss something, and it is more about sharing than broadcasting. But we'll see. I joined Twitter about 5 years ago and dropped it almost as fast. It updates constantly and you feel like you always have to watch it. I had better things to do. This board tells me what my friends here are doing in a 5-10 minute update once or twice a day. FB and my friends on Delish likewise. That'e enough--and more--for me. Massive 60% off sale at Avenue means $260 dollars and a brand new bunch of clothes. Found Hobbit Chronicles for Bob (well, me too) and a book for BFF Deb. Christmas prezzies for remaining family in skateboard protective gear for Charlie and gift cards for the adult grand kids. We're going to see them tomorrow for our gift exchange and lunch. Another $260 or so. Neighbor blocked my parking space when I got home. Turns out new neighbor is having furniture delivered. My temper tantrum (I go ballistic when my assigned and paid-for space is blocked ) was forestalled when she offered me hers until her movers are finished. I can get towed if I use it, but the head of the homeowner's association was there and we told him that this was a personal arrangement just until the job's done. A neighborhood fued aveted. She seems very nice. Maybe I'll ask her over for coffee or Beyond that ain't much happnin'. Well except for unpacking purchaces and a possible nap.

I am going to try to ship your aigrets Sunday, maybe, I'm having trouble getting Franklin to do anything at all. Julia, drowning in unfinished business.
