Welcome to Part 1148 of the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread.
That's cats for you. Showing us all up with their investment decisions. Typical.
Aside from fiscally conservative felines, we've got some other things that distress us. Spoilers in this thread make us hiss. They belong in the Spoiled Souls thread; if you want to talk about casting spoilers, the little ghosty button above is for you and if you want to talk about a show that just aired, please mark in BIG LETTERS.
Hot topic making your hackles rise? Check out our Open Topics Thread. No biting!
Something on TV makes you purr? Discuss it in the I Love, Love, LOVE TV thread for some awesome TV talk, as well as show threads for Torchwood, Doctor Who, Dollhouse, and our ongoing Buffy/Angel 'fest.
So, after you've discussed your investment portfolio with your resident feline (or any available neighborhood one that is dispensing financial advice [more common than you think]), check out our website! We've got fanfic, pretty pictures, and reviews.
Enjoy, S'cubies!

Also: thank you Erin, I've sort of been keeping my eye open for a new part for a few days now.

I do believe Allison is at the point where she is convinced that every time she checks something off her list an evil demon adds 2 more items.
I worked on a lot of wedding related items today so she got about 7 emails from me.
Sorry kid: if you want me to do stuff you will have to deal with the emails.

I've never had to plan a wedding, but I have observed from a short distance the ways in which the craziness proliferates. to all of you. You know, it's funny how some people think any freak-out by brides, grooms, or families is somehow insane. Even from a distance I've noticed the ways in which big events like weddings ramp up the stress levels of all involved. I actually had a friend burst into tears at her reception because the caterers served the salad before the wedding party had been announced. And this was somehow who was known for being a cool and collected person. Because, really, it had nothing to do with the salad and everything to do with all the madness leading up to the big day. Actually, now that I think about it, I've never been in a wedding that ran smoothly. There was: 1) the friend whose parents wouldn't help because they just hated weddings (my mom ended up doing most of the planning) as well as the two of us witnessing a horrible traffic accident and having to be witnesses the day before; 2) the friends whose fiance's family hated her because she wasn't Polish, while insisting on 7 additional bridesmaids; 3) the friend whose mother stopped talking to her 3 days before the wedding because...well, none of us have yet figured that one out; and 4) the friend who found out that another friend had forged the bride's name on contracts and then stiffed the bride's dad with a five-figure penalty, as well as 2 members of the wedding party dropping out when my friend insisted on dis-inviting the thief to the wedding. Man, when I write all that out, it occurs to me that I live in a soap opera.

And our challenge is .... design for a country music singer Miranda Lambert. Design 2 looks, a red carpet (chic, fresh, young, curvy) look and a performance one (country/rock). They don't have to be cohesive between them.
Oh, and now they're just partners - not a big team. Whole new dynamic!

OK, for performance .... cut-off distressed leather cowboy boots, flirty skirt in a black leather but with a curvy slightly flounced edge, a comfy authentic classic rock T-shirt, like for The Band or Lynyrd Skynyrd with a black leather vest over it. Then for red carpet, I also like the idea of separates - top and long skirt. Slinky long red skirt, but with some sweep at the bottom, and then a black tight bodice, off the shoulder, and with flowy sheer sleeves. Or, we could go with silver studded denim all over for both looks - and a big cow skull for a hat! ;D

Let's start with this . . . of course, it needs a model . . . Ooooh, sharp! This could be the start of both outfits, really. Lengthen the skirt and and color and chic sparkle for the red carpet look and/or rock n'roll it up a bit and add some dramatic bling and flash for the performance look!!

Well, I got it flashed up a bit and added a model . . . Nice! Love the red - and the boa! So, do we give her a cow skull hat, or do you think that's a bridge too far? ;D

Man, when I write all that out, it occurs to me that I live in a soap opera. SO true! I went into my wedding to Ian with the understanding that something WILL go wrong. After that I poured myself a glass of wine and decided not to sweat it. Things went wrong. We didn't care. We had fun.
