Lots of rags, two kinds of silicone scrapers and a metal paint scraper and a lot of Goo Gone and Simple Green, and I think I've got all the sticky off my shelf walls. I'm going to let it all dry overnight and then see if anything needs touching up before I put the shelves back in tomorrow. Ooogh. After Aged Mum's shopping, of course. At least she hasn't called with more little things she "forgot" to mention... Yet.

Starting from the premise that there are no stupid questions, I'll just call this a 19th century Luddite uninformed question: I assume that Kindles have limited storage space? How does one delete (or store elsewhere, but there are things I actually would delete) books from one's Kindle? Yes, Kindles do have limited storage space, about 1500 books worth. However they also have an online space which for some reason some geek named the "Cloud" which is for all intents and purposes unlimited. My doctor has her entire medical library on hers.

For some reason our internet and phones did not work yesterday. Since the internet comes in on cable and the phones work off the towers I have no explanation. Bob's didn't work either and we're not on the same network.
Our TV, courtesy of Dish, was fine.
It did, however, make it difficult for my daughter to call me and let me know that grandson Charlie broke his collarbone at lacrosse yesterday.

Hey, Sue - Sounds like it was a successful and excellent wedding - congrats to the new couple! And best of luck with the 70,000 steps in 7 days challenge thing. So, is anyone else watching Defiance on SyFy? I really enjoyed the pilot ep. And hey, Julie Benz is in it! I forgot to DVR last night's ep, and haven't had time to watch the two-hour pilot, but if other people are watching and liking I will be more motivated to catch up. Where have you been, Julia? Friday: finished cleaning cage for new Blue Laced Red Wyandotte rooster (like fandom, these things are usually abbreviated; this would be BLRW), accepted delivery of same, finished housing for Ameraucana rooster, plus of course usual chores. Saturday: went to chicken show in Vancouver (WA, the one by Portland) to pick up Ameraucana rooster. Left at 10am, home at 5:30pm, lunch at a diner in Ridgefield and also picked up cat littler at the Del's in Chehalis. Fed new rooster, named both roosters (Prince and Diamond Dave), faceplanted. Sunday was difficult, and at the end of an extra-work day I stupidly let the sheep loose when I didn't have my crook and did have the day's eggs in my left hand, and got pounded to the price of a big crescentic horn-mark on my right calf and my right arm over-worked from holding him off until Franklin came out and rescued the eggs. ALL my fault, and do not operate farm animals when stupid with exhaustion. So, then, yesterday I got up and did it again. Julia, I was so very glad last night's H50 was a rerun, although I'm close to marking that off my list after last week's episode, dropped in from some entirely other show without Danno, Kono, nor Chen.

So, is anyone else watching Defiance on SyFy? I really enjoyed the pilot ep. And hey, Julie Benz is in it! I am about half way thru the pilot. Okay so far -- nothing terribly special, but with such a large cast and complicated back-story I'll give it at least 3 or 4 episodes. It took a while for Falling Skies to grow on me. I am. It has ALL KINDS of possibilities. Besides--Julie Benz!

Preparing for my week of care-taking post-tonsillectomy Carolyn: I just downloaded 6 books. Anybody have any hot recommendations? I just started reading "Cutting For Stone," which is starting out very promising, and was recommended to me by Becky H. I am sure there must be a way to delete stuff from a Kindle, but I don't have one - would suggest googling "how to delete from Kindle" or some such thing. Quoting myself to say that I finished Cutting for Stone and didn't like it all that well after all. Did you find something to read, Sue? I also recently read "Exile," a book about Richard Nixon's "comeback" (basically the ten years or so after his resignation, where he went from almost dying and serious depression, to becoming a world-travelling "elder statesman")that I found really interesting. The impression I have is of a man who has one side intent on sabotaging himself, the other side determined not to let that happen. No matter how hard he knocks himself down, he gets himself right back up and heads straight for the mountaintop AGAIN. I skimmed a biography of Teddy Kennedy in the library but just find the whole Kopechne thing too disturbing, so I think that is out. I've really been getting into biographies, lately.

SlashI saw this article, linked above, entitled "Slash, not just a punctuation mark anymore," and naturally thought it was going to be about the way the word is used to describe same sex fic . . . but no. I guess I have been too Lola-ized.It's about how people are now writing out the word slash, as in "that was terrible slash awful" or some such thing. It made no sense. Are people really doing this? Why? It takes four more characters to write out "slash" than just using the /, and in the texting slash tweeting generation, why do it? ?
