Did anyone notice that Jonathan Frid the original Barnabas Collins, had passed away? Yep, but I was called away by the clock at that point. An energy vampire of my long acquaintance also died today. I'm hand-holding the Programmer and may have to give him the guest bed tonight, since he's been doing the ACOA caretaker thing with the guy for the past decade or so. I am trying to be appropriately sad, but the decedant hated me on sight (in 1976 or so) and has not, in the intervening years, seen fit to be anything but snidely disrespectful to me. Julia, not that good a person, I guess.

From personal experience, nothing helps the pain, confusion and shock, but having someone there the first night after can be crucial.

Did anyone notice that Jonathan Frid the original Barnabas Collins, had passed away? Damn. That makes four, actually. Another band person was found dead in his Melbourne, AUS apartment, but I can't recall what band. I'm sure I should know it, however.

He has a lot of friends, luckily, and didn't want to be away from his apartment (he and the guy who died had three cheap apartments in a very old building right on the bay, and the security is not great); he and Franklin are due to go to a memorial for the Firesign Theatre's Philip Bergman tomorrow, although I'm not sure how that will work. Julia, life is rich and full but some people seem determined to live their lives as bad examples.

You know, "I come from the land down under..." He was the saxophonist.

everything going about as well as possible but still: out of town weddings with tons of flights and rides and coordinating ...
rainy and COLD but should be sunny tomorrow. and, selfishly, I would still rather have it too cold than too warm. I doubt all the young girls in the wedding party would agree.

Congrats, Diane.
So, while you are beginning retirement, I heard from a co-worker who wants me to come back temporarily to work on a project. I could set my own hours and work from home a lot and would be well paid . . . it is tempting, as she promises me no-contact with my former uber-oooky boss . . . well, we'll see. I have made no promises and we are going to meet about it.

Just when I think I have found them all . . . I moved a screen today on a seldom used window, and found a very weather worn penny stuck between the bottom of the screen and the sill.
Vince believed pennies could help keep us safe from the worst of the visions/voices he saw and heard, and planted them all over the house. When I cleaned it so thoroughly for getting ready for foster care, I kept thinking, "Well, now I've got them all."
I mean, I even found the one inside the bathroom door knob assembly.
So this was a nice surprise. They always feel like a hello from my baby.
