Diane: So, I've officially registered to graduate (in absentia). And by the end of the summer, I should have a shiny parchment for my imaginary office wall. Maybe you'll have a real office wall too. You never know. *sigh* From your lips...

*sigh* Another sleepless night. Would somebody please summarize the last coupld of days' activities so my non-functional mind can encompass them? I'm pretty sure I owe someone either congratulations or condolences at this point.

I'm finished with OBGYN. I start surgery on Monday. I've also got rotations scheduled through mid December. Only 3 more to schedule! Also, my vivo barefoots, which the sales associate was sure would last about 2 years, are already falling apart.

apply as needed. I have walked to market, done laundry, and driven Younger Daughter around so she could spend all of her saved-up monies. She now has fourteen new manga, one new Pokemon game and one used Pokemon game for her Nintendo DS, plus we ordered the other one she wanted but couldn't find locally. One rather cool thing happened - the clerk at the GameStop at Main Place was a young woman, very nice, very helpful, and very knowledgeable. I'd given up on GameStop after our last two attempts to shop there (at the two Brea locations) consisted of walking in and being completely ignored by the guys behind the counters. I guess old frumps and gawky teenage girl customers are less important than the guys' girlfriends and/or whatever else they thought was more important than customer service. Or maybe I've discovered an invisibility ray... But there was a lot of freeway driving with Big!Trucks! and more walking and I'm very tired now. *insert long rant about Aged Mum and unreasonable shopping demands, about which you're all tired of hearing* I'm going to go try to unexplode my little studio, because I can't put anything away until I reorganize the cupboard, and I can't reorganize the cupboard until there's room in the studio to pull things out, and my brain hurts.

Next new show of summer. (I gave Common Law a one episode try out -- it was fine but maybe I've just had my fill of USA buddy-shows (how would you ever top White Collar?) and just couldn't get into the Odd Couple vibe.)
Next up:
‘LONGMIRE’ (A&E, SUNDAY) Set in Wyoming and filmed in New Mexico, this contemporary western stars Robert Taylor (Agent Jones in “The Matrix”) as a widowed frontier sheriff who looks and acts the part — when he’s not using a French press to make his morning coffee. The obligatory female sidekick is played by Katee Sackhoff of “Battlestar Galactica”; the series is based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by Craig Johnson.
I think we will give it a try. Jim might like it and my someday to be son-in-law -- (talked to the sister with whom Allison is living and she confirmed that the "m" word is being thrown around a lot. But I don't think they want to get officially engaged until they can set a date (under a year max) and that is unlikely to happen until he has full time employment and move's away from home) -- is working for them 2 days a week so I feel the need to support A&E endeavors.

NYT's chronological listing of new summer shows (hmm....some returning shows are included while others are ignored. I guess it's mainly the one's who have finales that are on the list).
The one I'm most interested in is Political Animals on USA on July 15. Only 6 (or is it 8?) episodes total so really a mini-series. Starring Sigourney Weaver.
And maybe I'll give Masterpiece Mystery and "Copper" a try.
Not like we need more TV, we'll be gone for 2 weeks and then the Olympics.

Also congratulations on surgery. No, I don't think I told sales associate exactly, but I thought I told him that I'd be on my feet all day. I need to figure out another solution and buy a new pair of shoes fast, but I'm not very motivated at the moment. The surgery rotation is a core rotation, though interestingly enough, when I called today to ask what time to meet on Monday, I was informed that my designated preceptor was going to be out of town most of the month. So the core site coordinator here had to scramble to find me a new preceptor. After surgery, I'm doing hospice in Denver (that's the one I finally got confirmed today), audition rotation in Casper, back here for 3 (ER and 2 "community medicine," ie internal medicine in patient), then audition rotation in Cheyenne. For the rest of the year, there's the rural medicine rotation in Saratoga, WY in January, the elective in the UK that I need to get back to working on, plus 2 selectives yet to be determined.

See, you get me all excited with "set in Wyoming," and then it's "filmed in New Mexico." New Mexico pretty...but it's not Wyoming. Regardless, I'm sure I'll end up watching it.

I am wondering about "Men at Work." Has Adam Busch in it as a regular.

You should be ready for most anything after all that. Which I guess is the idea.

Anne, will you come to Texas and help me organize MY studio? Sorry, can't hear you, buried under cigar boxes... Actually, I put all the spare cigar boxes into a plastic crate, lugged the crate back to the bedroom and stuck it in the closet with a basket of sewing-in-progress balanced on top. Which cleared enough space to put the lap-desk-work-tray thingy and its assorted impedimentia into the cupboard, so I could get those off the studio floor. More tomorrow, maybe, if I have time after the next round of Aged Mum shopping and trying to figure out where to pile all of it, because it's going to be too hot for most things to sit in my car out on the street. This afternoon, I told AM it's time for her to start doing some of her own shopping again (or at least get the caregivers to do it for her), because I can't handle it all anymore. She didn't quite blow me off, but I can tell I'm going to have to get pushy and possibly even nasty about it. I seem to recall something about it all being a temporary fix, back about a year ago... Pfui. I'm going back to my featherstitching. So there, life.
