Anne, will you come to Texas and help me organize MY studio? Sorry, can't hear you, buried under cigar boxes... Actually, I put all the spare cigar boxes into a plastic crate, lugged the crate back to the bedroom and stuck it in the closet with a basket of sewing-in-progress balanced on top. Which cleared enough space to put the lap-desk-work-tray thingy and its assorted impedimentia into the cupboard, so I could get those off the studio floor. More tomorrow, maybe, if I have time after the next round of Aged Mum shopping and trying to figure out where to pile all of it, because it's going to be too hot for most things to sit in my car out on the street. This afternoon, I told AM it's time for her to start doing some of her own shopping again (or at least get the caregivers to do it for her), because I can't handle it all anymore. She didn't quite blow me off, but I can tell I'm going to have to get pushy and possibly even nasty about it. I seem to recall something about it all being a temporary fix, back about a year ago... Pfui. I'm going back to my featherstitching. So there, life. Here's to the uninterrupted featherstitching (although I'm partial to lazy daisy and french knots myself). How about I up the ante? If you come and help me organize my studio I hereby pledge that there will not be one single moment of AM shopping! Also, you will have your choice of comfy couch or airy airbed AND the pleasure of the company of not just myself but also the tall Bobman who will be your willing and able assistant/sidekicks!

It sounds very enticing, especially meeting you and the Bobman, but alas, I have responsibilities here. The featherstitching is on the backs of the wings of the wingéd heart, but do not despair, there are French knots and lazy-daisies on the heart itself. Also beads and sequins and satin stitch, it's quite shiny, if I do say so myself.

Went to Foster Parent Banquet. Was completely surprised to win the "Rookie of the Year" award from Children Services!! Whoda thunk it? An award with the word "rookie" in it, AFTER my retirement. : Hope you are all well - Erin, I must check out Holmes on Homes . . . Have Mem Day plans, and am making plans for a busy summer. Congratulations on the award!!! I too love the irony of you as a retiree being awarded for being a rookie. But not at all surprised that you are winning awards left and right, all willy-nilly.

Cute! Great photos, Sara. You really do a good job of capturing expressive critters.

This was a day of the MOST extreme coolness. It couldn't have been better unless someone can fix aching feet. We saw Kristin Bauer von Straten (Pam) from True Blood. She had the floor to herself since she was the only TB guest. She told us that she had been filming all night (episode 11) and then jumped on the plane. She still had "Pam hair" and "lots of hairspray" and stated that she was running on four hours sleep. It showed in the somewhat messy hair but she was as bouncy and funny as I've ever seen her. Our seats were in the front row and several times I caught her looking our way. Later we passed her signing booth and again, even while she was talking to fans I twice caught her glancing at us. No, I do not believe she recognized me, if she even remembers Paleyfest. In a huge conventions full of people in wonderful costumes, I took it as a huge compliment. It was an hour of watching her adroitly side step every question that might possibly tell us ANYTHING about the new season, while simultaneously teasing us relentlessly. I asked the first question, "Knowing that you can't tell any plot details can you at least tell us whether you have any scenes with Chris Meloni". She tapdanced around it for a while and finally said that she liked him very much which can be interpreted any way you want. I also met Claudia Christian who I always enjoyed on Babylon 5. Sorry, no photo. Sadly, nobody was waiting to see her when we walked by her signing booth but when I glanced at her I got back the nicest, most dazzling and friendly smile. I went over and apologized for not being an autograph hunter but that I had the Bab5 DVDs so of course I knew who she was and told her I had loved the show. The smile got bigger and she gave me a few of the souveniers they had to hand out, postcards, bookmarks and such. Very sweet lady. But the very best was the Star Trek panel. Not the panel itself, which as all but inaudible, but the very wonderful Chewbacca himself, Peter Mayhew who sent his assistant over to Bob to ask if we'd come by his signing booth later and take pictures with him. Yes, you read that right, Peter Mayhew asked US for photos. I mean, how cool is that? In case you're interested, I am 5'2" tall. The Bobman stands 6'2". Dear Mr Mayhew was bent over with what I took to be arthritis and could not stand without his cane (in point of fact, all of us were achy and supporting ourselves with walking sticks.). Even so--although the photo doesn't show it because at some moments he was leaned on us--he stood head and shoulders over Bob. What a gentle giant. But I ask you, was that not a wonderful day? I'm going to bed now. Oh my! Wonderful wonderful, Diane! You and the Bobman look awsome - as does Mr Mayhew! Congrats! Sounds like a great time, Diane. You and Bob look amazing!

Hello, yes, I am alive. Weekends are strenuous at best, and the last two days were pretty much a marathon of farm-related stuff. The high point of my weekend was buying myself new reading glasses.
Julia, and I am unsure about the whole dinner thing, oh, dear.

Oh lovely, lovely dinner. The Bobman and I made our own version of sheherd's pie and ended up very pleased with ourselves. It came out delish and there's enough for about four more days. Since it's always better the next day, I'm looking forward to tomorrow as well.
For the rest, the day was a total loss--productivity wise. Neither of us opened an eye until nearly noon and spent most of the rest of the day with butts firmly glued to the couch. Well, except for cooking and then there was that unexpected nap around 4PM.
Just call us utterly useless.
Unfortunately, the usefuls have remained unslain so tomorrow will probably be very busy. The kitchen floor alone is worthy of a call to the health department.
