(A bit of recycling and tribute to my recent trip) Welcome to Part 1144 of the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread, where we never fear Canadians.
Canada is a lovely place, but we've got some good stuff right here. Got a hot TV show you're watching obsessively? Discuss it in the I Love, Love, LOVE TV thread for some awesome TV talk, as well as show threads for Torchwood, Doctor Who, Dollhouse, and our ongoing love of our original shows: Buffy and Angel.
Or the vast (maybe not as vast as Canada, but still) plethora of loveliness on our website! We've got fanfic, pretty pictures, and reviews.
However, we will drop you in the Canadian wilderness, sans flashlights, with a rutting moose if you post spoilers in this thread. They belong in the Spoiled Souls thread; if you want to talk about casting spoilers, the little ghosty button above is for you and if you want to talk about a show that just aired, please mark in BIG LETTERS.
Want to chat about issues (global or domestic)? Check out our Open Topics Thread. No biting!
Enjoy, S'cubies!

It's a great opener, Erin, but I don't know how to repost.

I just heard from the vet - Shadow is in recovery and doing fine. She had to have one tooth extracted but the others all look good. I ♥ my vet; she was very reassuring about it not being my fault, some cats just are more prone to periodontal disease, and Shadow may never have another problem. Anyway, I'll be picking her up around 4:30, which also solves the problem of explaining to Aged Mum why I can't talk to her - I'll just leave right after I get off the phone. I've been all day about my cat, silly me, but maybe now I can concentrate on something besides rereading fluffy Regencies. Besides slaying the usual Monday usefuls, that is. I have not been idle here... S'cubies near and far and all their friends and relations if they want hugs too

Shadow is under the Younger Daughter's bed. She went straight under, came out, had some dinner, and went back again. I'm supposed to give her a dose of antibiotic, but she refuses to emerge. At least I was able to get the pressure bandage off her front leg.
Well, I'm not staying up all night waiting for the little... darling. If she hasn't come out by my bedtime, I'll start her dosing first thing in the morning.

You may have to restrict her access to certain areas for a while.

You may have to restrict her access to certain areas for a while. It's going to be interesting, as neither cat will be allowed out for the next week. I may have to invest in more catnip mice. Shadow did come out, and we got the antibiotic down her, followed by some soaked and softened cat treats. The pain meds are on an as-needed basis, so I can always dose her later in the day if she seems uncomfortable. Anyway the deed is done and I'm off to bed. {{{Big Mommy Anne hug for Diane}}} and my best good thoughts to Bob and all his family.

Hugs for those as need and can use them, but watch my ribs and lower back.
Did I mention that Sunday's entertainment included hauling one of my livestock panels (16 feet long, 56 inches tall {3 meters by 1.5 meters, basically} of 8X8 inch grid 00 gauge galvanized steel wire) down to the line fence because the cows broke through and ate the neighbor's vegetable garden?
Today I get to empty the refrigerator and then fill the new one.
Julia, it's been an entertaining time.

I talked to the vet, or rather, the vet tech who talked to our vet, who said that Shadow should have the pain meds for the first couple days just in case, because cats are good at hiding pain. So I dosed her (although partly the carpet), and she got her special little dish of soaked and mashed cat treats, and we're all fine here, how are you?

Bathroom light burned out. Turns out the a/c is leaking into it. Mercifully, I am living with an a/c repairman. Two hours of cleaning the most disgusting ook covered parts and being rained on with more, he's got a shortlist of stuff to buy (wire, fixture, parts, primer) and a desperate need for a shower--
--but it's all fixable.
Nice to live with a man who handy.

August: minor annoyances for all, even those who have sufficient big real problems.
Julia, my hands smell of sheep, even after washing with the smelly soap.

August: minor annoyances for all, even those who have sufficient big real problems. Julia, my hands smell of sheep, even after washing with the smelly soap. And now they smell of old refrigerator. Which started running when I had it 90% empty, by the way. It's being exiled anyway. This is not the time of my life I need something else I can't depend on. I have my knees already. Julia, who writes this shit?

Julia, who writes this shit? They always do that, don't they?I should've gone and had a lie-down this afternoon. Today is Elder Daughter's first evening class and she won't get out until 9:45 (Husband is picking her up), and I got the distinct impression she'd like to tell me about it when she gets home. But I wanted to keep an eye on Shadow, who is sound asleep under her blankie on the cats' chair next to me. So no afternoon siesta for me today. I'm going to be really, really tired by the end of the evening. Oh well, it'll be too hot to sleep for a good while anyway. Currently it is 95.5° in the patio, 20% rh.
