Bleagh, still hot and humid today. No walkies, because last night Patches went all Savage Beast on my right foot. She was banging on the deck glass door and growling. I went to investigate, but whatever intruder was in the back yard was long gone. I wouldn't let her go out and kill it, so she popped me with both paws and all her claws. I have a lovely set of punctures across the top of my foot and around the Achilles tendon, right where the straps on my walking Birkies would rub on them. Wretched cat. S'cubies in need of same

Put something in the Admin thread I thought you all might get a laugh out of, here.Once you get there, you will understand why I put it there. ALSO: Do any of you regularly read mystery stories? Like Ellery Queen, or Alfred Hitchcock? Or something similar. I am trying to write one and would love a beta reader who knows what the stories in those magazines are like. Heya Spring, I read some mysteries. I happen to be a fan of Agatha Christie, and I've read a fair number of the other classic British mystery authors. I don't know how good a beta reader I would be but I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Back from funeral home. Bob and his son Ryan and daughter in law Stephanie had to go make arrangements and also identify the body of their little son. Bob went to lend support. I went to lend Bob support.
Why do all those places look and smell the same?
After making us wait an unconsionable amount of time the associate had the kids sign an interminable number of papers before allowing them to say goodbye to their baby.
The first thing the associate asked Ryan was, "Are these your parents?'
He never batted an eye or even looked up, "Yes."
Then we went to say our farewells to little Robbie. I think that was the saddest, most pitiful moment seeing that tiny, motionless body. More like a doll than a formerly living human being. You couldn't be there an not cry. Not if you have blood in your veins you couldn't.
I passed around tissues, hugs, kisses and soft sounds. I blotted faces and squeezed hands. My heart broke with theirs.
I have a new son and a new daughter, but they have empty arms.

Almost time for Project Runway! I'll be here to chat about it, which is awesome - even if I am missing Catvidfest.

They always do that, don't they?I should've gone and had a lie-down this afternoon. Today is Elder Daughter's first evening class and she won't get out until 9:45 (Husband is picking her up), and I got the distinct impression she'd like to tell me about it when she gets home. But I wanted to keep an eye on Shadow, who is sound asleep under her blankie on the cats' chair next to me. So no afternoon siesta for me today. I'm going to be really, really tired by the end of the evening. Oh well, it'll be too hot to sleep for a good while anyway. Currently it is 95.5° in the patio, 20% rh. It may be as warm as 70F here today; it started sprinkling while I was out cutting grass for Bjorn and the girls. I am so very not complaining. I would have lost pretty much everything in the refrigerator if I'd been trying to keep it cold with ice in 85F temperatures like we had last week. I'm just shot, though, I've been running full tilt since 8am and am in no way done with the day, or at least it is no way done with me! Julia, also I've got, like, seven dozen eggs again, which is just ridiculousI want! I've been making do with health food store bought, but it just ain't the same.

And the challenge is ...
Ooooooooh!! Create another evening/cocktail gown to be added to the Project Runway line sold at Lord & Taylor. And will be displayed on 5th avenue in their windows. Damn!!
So, we really should do a lovely, gorgeous, stylish - in short? Something FAB - yet simple enough to be mass manufactured. And has to fit within the PR L&T collection ....
