Welcome to Part 1151 of the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread! It's Friday! That means we can be all casual-like, so wander over here where you'll find enlightening essays, fiction and other fun things to read. Perfect for whiling away a Friday afternoon. Or morning. Or entire day. You don't even need to get dressed up. You can shed your inhibitions and anything else you might want here where virtually no topic is off limits as long as there is no rudeness. Before you do, however you, should know that there are somethings about which we are never casual. You can find those basic rules and answers which include playing nice and not posting spoilers anywhere but here. Failure to comply results a possible flogging, or any other suitable punishment we can think up. C'mon. Get nekkid, or dressed, or whatever, and post already!

Moving this over from the last part cuz Diane asked for some suggestions from us.Happy Friday the 13th, S'cubies! I took my car to the mechanic yesterday, for a new door handle. While they were replacing the handle, another plastic bit broke, so they had to order more parts, which should be there sometime today. So my simple couple of hours repair is now a simple maybe-this-afternoon-if-the-parts-get-there-today repair. Not that I'm superstitious or anything... Here, have some cookies and tea. * Carefully rolls tea cart into Thrall Room. Does not fall over own feet, furniture, cats or S'cubies.* So what's up? Anybody doing any bodything interesting this weekend? Well the Bobman and I have decided on another cruise for early next year. We found this one which is right up our alley so to speak. I have to renew my passport which, like everything else having to do with government agencies is a massive pain in the This, of course, will necessitate a whole new dress for Her Majesty. And my daughter (member daughterofd, for those who care) is throwing what promises to be the Halloween BASH of the year. Thing is, while I have a closet PACKED with costumes--they're nearly all historical reproductions. I'd like to go as something Halloween-y or fun and NOT historical. Unfortunately, commercial costumes are severely lacking in anything resembling originality and Plus size is even MORE limited, trite and cliched. I don't want to make one. My Making Plate is already overflowing. Anybody got suggestions?

Hi, all.
Diane, sounds like you need something that is more about make-up than costume . . . how about you just wear some regular clothes of yours (the shabbiest you've got, the ones you wear for cleaning or something), and then do your face up and go as zombie-Diane?

Even easier -- wear regular clothes, dust with ashes, carry a stake. (you do the math).

Onj-
LOVE the opener.
Twilight Zone Question:
I do not: work outside the home have young children care for elderly parents
How is it possible to be THIS BUSY? I've checked 3 huge tasks off my list in the last 2 weeks but while I was accomplishing those all the itty bitty ones piled up into a mountain.
Yesterday I was gone from 7:30 to 4:30 (yeah, I know, in the real world that would actually be a SHORT workday) but ran 18 separate errands in 12 different locations on the west-side, east-side, county to the south, mid-town (Vandy) and down-town. Absolutely exhausting.
Life is Good, just freaking busy.
Carolyn moved into the new apartment today. (She hired movers, at 31 and on her 4th apartment she has accumulated enough real furniture to make that semi-necessary and in an urban area you can get "2 hunks and a truck" for 4 hours cheap enough that it makes no sense to do it herself. She'd packed everything so it was under 3.5 hours for them to load, drive 8 miles and unload.
Now she is on her way out to Aunt Barb's with a full car (Tom's) load of rejected furniture and bags and bags and bags of give-away stuff.
Blaine is a bit OCD with regard to order. If they don't kill each other it will be a good fit of strength and weakness.

Thanks for the Buffy on FX tip, Onjel. I saw What's My Line today - so fun to watch it again. The girls leave for school at 7:05, so I'm up very early these days.

For 46 years I looked forward to retiring and having all that spare time. I'm now almost a year and a half retired and I HAVE NO TIME AT ALL!!! Bob and I spent most of the day costume browsing. We're going with Red Riding Hood and the wolf, with a twist. Bob's wolf is a were and Red's a Slayer. Possibly a post zombie apocalype slayer. Where do you find a man who goes shopping with you for---wait for it---weapons and body parts?

Also -- I don't own a farm or even a pet.

*Stomps into Thrall Room* I still do not have my car. First World Problems, I know, I know... The supply place sent the wrong part. The mechanic called the supply place. Nobody answered. The mechanic called the backup supply place. The backup supply place sent a part. It was the same wrong part. Supplier says mechanic gave them the wrong part number. Mechanic says he's right, they're wrong. Still doesn't get me the right part for my car door. I haz a grumph. The earliest the part will be there is Monday afternoon. If it's still the wrong part, or anything else falls off the car door, they'll have to put the door back together and duct-tape it shut, or something, because the cats have a dental appointment on Tuesday morning, and I cannot carry two cats in two carriers up hill and down dale to the vet. Tomorrow I am driving Paul's car out, because I have got to run some errands I couldn't do without a car, and I want my half hour at the coffeeshop, dagnabbit. His car is also a Matrix, but it's newer and shinier and has power windows. I'm terrified I'll ding it on something. *hugs S'cubies* *Fills basket of brackets* *Stomps out of Thrall Room*

I didn't happen to mention that the EBMoD is getting married today, did I? No. Do you have to go? Nope! I came with Mom to MO, both to be supportive and also to, you know, come within miles of the wedding and STILL not go. 'Cause that's way more pointed.
