Nope! I came with Mom to MO, both to be supportive and also to, you know, come within miles of the wedding and STILL not go. 'Cause that's way more pointed. Heh. Nicely vengeanced. I drove Paul's car around town. I did not ding it or bump into other cars. It's still weird; the driver's seat has way more adjustments than mine does, and I didn't want to put it too far out of wack for Paul when he gets back in, so it was angled wrong for my knees. But at least I went out and did stuff. I had my breakfast at the coffeeshop, I picked up the catfood and treats at the vet, and I got to Michael's just as they opened and got the paint I needed for my bird assemblage kit. So Monday I am going to work on my bird because I won't be able to drive anywhere anyway. So there.

Speaking of cars, the young marrieds are back with automotive transport: a very-low-mileage 1996 Camry, because it was what they could afford. The old car blew a head gasket after taking them to Vegas for the Star Trek con for their honeymoon.
I've been building chicken pens and also fighting bad joint pain, and freaking out because the last time I had this level of painit turned out that I had a dental abcess blow up and was sick for a week. I napped yesterday; the last time I napped was when I had the flu-that-wasn't-in-the-flu-shot, about four years ago. I am not a napping creature.
Still not watching PR; still don't feel much deprived by that fact.
Julia, and now, since there's another hour until dark, I go to move chicken containers around.

Well, if you need to make a point, the pointed way is generally the best. Can't sleep. Could. Had nightmare about killer plants taking over the planet and being a refugee but now can't get back to sleep. Not until murderous horticulture is out of my subconscious, anyway.

Being haunted by Audrey II? More like killer grasses. Gives more credence to the term killer weed? Finished new bustle today and discovered that the boning I planned to use is in wretched shape. Ordered pre-cut kit from Truly Victorian. It arrives and goes straight into the channels. No fuss, no muss, no bother. Only sadness is that I didn't want to start my new super sized skirt until the bustle was finished to drape over it. Ah well.

Well done, Erin - but what does EBMoD stand for? ETA: I just figured out the Evil Bitch Monster of Death acronym . . . so I take it this is your sis?

Howdy!
It's raining, I hurt, Franklin hurts more... what a tedious life.
Tony Bourdain's new show on CNN was pretty much Tony Bourdain's old show on The Travel Channel, only last night was a trip to Jerusalem but also to Isreal and the rest of the zone of confusion- GREAT interviews, and a wonderful use of cuisine to illustrate the chasms between communities which are usually viewed as single entities, most particularly Gaza.
Julia, so, something to watch, yay!

*Refills basket of brackets and plate of treats, and checks the supply of tea* My car is home again. I had to pay nearly $200 to ransom it, the simple replacement of a door handle took nearly a week (nearly two if you count ordering the original parts), but it's home again. My mechanic is very competent, we just all had a run of bad luck all at once. Tomorrow, I get to capture and crate cats, and take them to get their teeth cleaned. But today, my car is home again and I've been working on my bird assemblage. So There, Life.

Just caught the pilot episode for Sleepy Hollow on Fox.
Quite good. Remains to be seen where it goes from here (will it get too dark for me?) but I really like the male lead. The young female lead is good, it's just such a mismatch.
Seems to be very Supernatural-ish.
I think it might be repeating on Saturday night?

I've gotten some mean texts since, but I think I'll survive.

We went to the non-anesthesia dentist this morning, the cats and I. We survived, and nobody got bitten, or clawed, or peed on, or anything else bad. After I got them home and settled, I walked up to the shopping center, did some necessary shopping and picked up lunch at Corner Bakery. Things are going too well. *eyeroll* I'm looking around for falling shoes. *hugs S'cubies* Also too, I finished my assemblage bird last night and took photos this morning, if anyone wants a look. It's a bird, it's a collage, it's an assemblage.

I'm as concerned about politics as the next person. The continual calls to slash food stamps, education, Social Security and so forth concern me deeply.
BUT I am sick to death of having my email jammed full of requests for money from one organization after another, each spouting a tale more harrowing than the next. Even if I contributed $3 to each of them it would be more than I can afford.
How does one remain poltically involved without having to listen to all the horrifying stories -- and some of them truly are -- or going broke?

Even if I contributed $3 to each of them it would be more than I can afford. How does one remain poltically involved without having to listen to all the horrifying stories -- and some of them truly are -- or going broke? *hugs* I'm going a bit political-ish here. If it's an organization we've donated to before, I start out polite: For the phone calls, I say "I'm sorry, we are not able to help you financially at this time". If they get pushy, I say no again, and if they still push, I say goodbye and mentally cross them off my list. For the emails, I try to unsubscribe using the link. When (not if, when) that doesn't work *glares at League of Women Voters*, I email them once, and if they still persist, I spam-filter them. The ones we've never donated to, they're spam from the beginning, and I treat them as such. You can't fix everything. Do what you reasonably can, but don't drain yourself, financially or emotionally, and don't guilt yourself over it, either, that's how some of the scammier operations get to you in the first place. I did have one nice experience; the NPR station we support called after we renewed our membership. Not to demand more money, just to thank us.
