Doctor Who! *runs through trailing scarf and waving sonic* *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* What she says, except without the accessories. Which reminds me that I really want River's sonic, and since I didn't spend all my saved-up pocket money at the Sawdust... We got back from our happy morning (Winter Sawdust and used bookstore) to a phone message from My Mother. The usual "where is everybody what's wrong why won't you answer i guess i'll just talk to you later *sob*" guilt-tripping message, of course. So I called her back, just in case something really was wrong. It wasn't, she'd already made the decision and didn't need me at all, as usual, but it really punctured my balloon of happy. Then we made tea and sat down to watch Doctor Who, with Kitty, who had waited for the rest of us, and now I have a happy again. And when in due course I have a cell phone of my own, I am seriously tempted to not give my mother the number, because you just know what she'll do...

Fun later was watching them for a full formal "cutting of the .... cinnamon bun"
Watch Doctor Who last night, but Jim fell asleep so I'll be watching it again. be! thanks for making it even more enjoyable with our reactions and thoughts. (anne and Diane also).
Finally: Almost Human: HIGHLY recommend, HIGHLY.

I'm thankful I've nearly made it through November, and have grocery money sufficient to make it until next pay-day.
Julia, now, I need to get my day actually started, don't I?

Thanks, Diane. We had a great T-day here.
Also, the Buckeyes just won the greatest Big Game ever. Heart-stopping!

Yes, Diane, lovely graphics and good wishes to all! Spring -- do you call that a "win" or a "not loss?" I find the decision of the MI coach entirely inexplicable. Vandy pulled another out at the last minute. 8-4 for the second year in a row: not since the 1920s. 3 bowls in a row: never. I would think that Coach Franklin is being eyed for several jobs. But the O!M!G! college football "nobody EVER saw THAT coming" ending of the entire season has to go to Auburn/AL game. Talk about upsetting the apple cart! Yikes! (and, poor Monnie)

But the O!M!G! college football "nobody EVER saw THAT coming" ending of the entire season has to go to Auburn/AL game. Talk about upsetting the apple cart! Yikes! (and, poor Monnie) There's a difference between a win and a "not loss" when only two teams are playing? If you don't lose, you win. If you win, you don't lose . . . if you score more points than your opponent, you win, etc. The Buckeyes earned their 42 points, they didn't just magically appear up there on the scoreboard. They won because they played every second of the game, not just the last 32 seconds.
I really don't understand that question, I guess.
It was a great game - and though it nearly killed me, it could not have been better, in my book. I love a last second, crazy win, especially in The Big Game, and especially in Ann Arbor. I love that Michigan, which has had a difficult year, came out really fired up and gave it all they had, including Hoke "going for it." Agree that Hoke's call was definitely an understandable one - I would say a good one. In OT, I think the Buckeyes would have had the advantage, Hyde was running and running. And I think Hoke thought so too. But the Buckeyes were having trouble covering the pass all game. Hoke took a chance, it didn't work. That happens.
I was much more confused by Saban's long FG call.
I was hoping for an FSU loss and a Bama/Buckeye title game, so the weekend did not work out quite as I was hoping, but the Conference Championship games are ahead. It is hard to say what will happen there. I think FSU is as close to a lock as any team can be, the rest is up in the air.

I'm back. Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. It's nice to be back online.
Siesta Key was beautiful. Driving home-another story altogether. Anyhow, we made it safe and sound and I'm exhausted. Still. Have to hit the ground running, though. Busy bee the next couple of weeks.

I love the Keys.
Took the girls to Sanibel this year; so beautiful. But yeah, that drive back up to the upper Midwest (even more upper for you) is a long, long haul. We stopped in Savannah on the way down, and outside Columbia, SC on the way back - one driver (me of course) - whew!
Enjoy the holiday season!

Thanks. You and the girls have a great holiday season, too! Yeah. The drive can be brutal. I was the only driver. My mother tends to fall asleep when she gets in a car on a long road trip. Somehow, I'm just not comfortable with that possibility. For us it's a straight shot down/up I-75, but on a holiday weekend it's a nightmare of heavy, stop and go traffic and state troopers. On the plus side, I managed not to get any tickets. (That I know of-there are weird spying devices all along the freeways, attached to the light posts and such.) We spent the night on the south side of Atlanta, in one of the few hotels along the I-75 corridor that has not had a bedbug complaint, and drove the rest of the way the next day. Siesta Key isn't actually in the Keys. It's about an hour north of Sanibel, right off of Sarasota. It's got the feel of Southwest FL, but not the Keys off the tip of the state. Plus, the beaches on the west side of the state are better. Of course, that's just my opinion. I love Sanibel. We used to go there when we vacationed in Naples. It's a great place with some very unspoiled areas on the island. Gorgeous.
