Apparently the ratings were through the roof. Are we actually going to have a Whedon show that doesn't get cancelled, or live in perpetual fear of cancellation? The mind, it boggles! Oh, most excellent indeed!

So, totally bragging. I walked almost 3.5 miles yesterday. Yes, it took me 85 minutes but hey: I walked for 85 minutes! (I picked a "greenway" so it was pretty flat for most of the way. And it was coolish. Even better -- I didn't fall down and nap the rest of the day and my feet are still functioning today. So: yay me! (I did have to set the O2 canister to 4liters (whatever that means) but -- whatever works.) Yay you, indeed! We're all quite proud, we are! Sorry I've been a bit in absentia; I've got three articles for which corrections are due at the end of the month, and all of them in fussy MLA style, which I loathe (and don't know very well). BUT, got some terrific (read: ego-boosting) feedback on one, which made me bubbly all day. Anne and Julia: I'm keeping good thoughts for doctors, getting things done, and a clearing of rain and upper respiratory stuff. Julia, *hugs* Sue, Yay, go you, well done! Queen E, yay for good feedback, it's great that other people are recognizing you as the Awesome Goddess we already know you are. Cats are in rude health; there was much growling and hissing and a little attempted smacking with claws out, but they got their shots and blood draws and weighing and all that indignity. I have antibiotic drops for Shadow's gingivitis, yuck, and I need to take fecal samples in as soon as possible, double yuck. I'm supposed to bring them back in six months, but since they're healthy and they've almost always been healthy, and I already have to drag them to the dentist every three or four months... I think I'm going to have to put my foot down on that one. Once a year is enough. Also, it's a ton of money we don't have and a lot of unnecessary stress on the cats and me, just to be told that the cats are, as I already am aware, in rude health. PS Recorded SHIELD, probably won't get to it until the weekend. Castle (which we have to wait to watch with Kitty) and the last installment of Broadchurch (airing tonight) are higher on the priority list, but we're at least going to give it a shot.

I'm SO MAD I missed Broadchurch. I'm hoping PBS will repeat it, but it was airing while I was in MO. Grr.

So, the Apprentice is working in fast food, at the behest of her parents and other aspects of reality, and I'm back to doing all my own heavy lifting most days of the week. Exhausted, in other words.
Yesterday was not my best wedding anniversary ever, although I got lots of Tea Leaf takeout for dinner and the nice young Russian (or Ukrainian, I'd be willing to bet) plumber fixed the floor and installed the toilet in the hall bathroom, with an increase in everyone's quality of life.
It was an event we will look back on and laugh, possibly on our fiftieth anniversary assuming we make it that far.
Julia, now for a long day of feeding annimals and doing laundry, I expect.

BBCA really ruined the first installment with random frequent commercial breaks, not even waiting for a scene change. The other parts weren't much better. It broke the flow of the narrative, and made the whole thing even more confusing. We'll probably watch the last part tonight; there were scheduling conflicts last night so I had to record the late-night repeat.

Am in Niagara Falls with the M&Ms!
Gorgeous view from the hotel room, and fun today on The Maid of the Mist.

Aaaaaannnnnnd the "whole month spoiled by one Friday the 13th" theme continues as the Hired Hand cancels due to dysmenhorea, the Apprentice has to be at work by 11am, and it started raining ten hours before the predictions said it would.
So, do I get soaked to the skin before or after I go to IKEA? After, I think, I can enjoy the shopping trip and do what I need in utter misery, knowing that the bathtup is clean and I can take a nice, long soaky bath afterwards and go to bed early.
Julia, as close as I can come to an optimistic scenario.

Wait, what? Where is everyone?
I got pounded flat by Thor's hammer last night, thunder and torrential rains and a funnel cloud touched down thirty miles NE of me and ripped the roof of a building at the Boeing plant in Fredrickson.
High point of the morning so far was putting two syphons in the tarp over the sheep, which was holding about 200 gallons of water, ugh.
Julia, this is not the weather of my people.

Well, I swing between pretty much doing nothing (which is an art form to stay "busy" all day and while accomplishing nothing. And actually getting lots done.
I'm trying to get out and walk every day and just making lists and then crossing things off bit by bit (sometimes the additions outweigh the deletions but such is life).

I was over-busy today, I had all the morning chores because Gwen was working, and then an afternoon shrink appointment, and then the afternoon chores because she had to go get a new battery. Which became something less than the most fun ever because the one bantam pullet I'm meaning to keep and have named got out and escaped into the field with the cattle: I got plenty of exersize! Julia, so, yeah: fast food tonight.

If any of you are regular watchers of "Morning Joe" on msnbc my BIL is going to be on this Friday talking about his new book (which is on pain and suffering).
Maybe this should go on the OT thread but since there is no overt religion in the actual post, just a PSA, I thought it might get seen more quickly here.

Agree that post is OK here. Am home all safe and sound. Was great to see the Ms and Rich WHO IS DATING! Rich and the lucky lady have only had 3 dates thus far, but we asked him to keep us informed, so that we didn't have to make it up (I threatened him with "Rich fic"). He seemed to be doing great, as was Sara and Kaylee and her mom and dad (what a gracious family!). Hugs to all.

1. sounds like it was a great trip! Hi to Sara and Rich
2. haven't seen this week's SHIELD yet as we were attending a concert of the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra (who knew we had a philharmonic orchestra?) held at our church. At least 60 volunteer musicians did an entire Tchaikovsky symphony. quite good.
3. Still enjoying Sleep Hollow. Still enjoying Once Upon A Time -- see quite a bit of subtext re love, faith, war, political factions, etc.
4. Carolyn and Blaine got their invitations yesterday and stuff all the envelopes and mailed them today so they should arrive Sat, exactly 7 weeks before the wedding. Guess I should get my alterations done. Everything was pre-addressed by the printer.
Gorgeous fall weather here and in Chicago recently. But 24 inches of snow due in WY and Idaho? Hurricane KAREN (you go girl!). One presumes (hopes?) that the FEMA branch of the gov is still operating.
