It's not going into wide release this weekend (showing on 270 screens, per Rolling Stone). Very disappointed. Patience...yeah, yeah, how long will that take?

In the meantime, I thought you guys would like this: Why Veronica Mars Makes So Many References to The Big LebowskiI am so excited to see this!

The VM movie was lots of fun.
I was surprised by the zero mention of Duncan, though it didn't bother me. Duncan was OK, but, to me, just not that interesting as a character.
Piz was more interesting but never seem to have much spark with VM, so I was surprised to see him and Veronica together after all this time.
In the movie, it is nine years later, though this is about two years more than the time that has elapsed in real life. I guess it was to give Veronica enough time to finish law school and such.
Loved Logan in the military whites - it was very believable, somehow, that Logan would do this. When you don't have parents, one option is looking to your Big Uncle Sam for some structure and limits and guidance.
It was fun to see Keith Mars again, and Wallace! Michelle and I agreed that he had grown up really nicely! Mac, also looked great.
There were many funny lines and funny moments.
When Logan and Veronica finally kissed, Michelle and I had a squeezing fangirl moment. It was such fun to see the movie with Michelle, my former VM reviewer partner.
The girls had never heard of VM before, but enjoyed it none the less.
The James Franco part was a surprise, and pretty funny.
LOVED that we got to see both Vinnie and Cliff again.

Glad you had a good time, Spring. I made the same mistake, thinking Piz and Veronica had been together the entire time. They'd re-connected, and been together for about a year. Evidently, I don't like Logan in hats. Go figure. Still, I love 'A Few Good Men' and Veronica quoting it at the end was fun (the 'effety white uniform' bit). I do, however, like him wet. I got all teary when Logan and Veronica kissed. I can't tell you how much I was hoping for that. In one of the reviews I read, the reviewer wasn't happy that Veronica called herself an addict. For some reason, I liked it. To me it was as if (as a wise woman once said) she was embracing her inner darkness. OTOH, the 1st issue of the Buffy comic s10 came out the other day, and Buffy's being stupid about her relationship with Spike. She was trying to convince herself that it's "better" they're just slaying buddies now, never mind that the badness in their previous relationship had its roots in specific circumstances that no longer apply. Gah! Why am I still reading the d*mn things? I noticed no one's covering them here anymore.

Glad that Spring and Michelle enjoyed the movie. Definitely squee-worthy moments for LoVe fans.
I just read through some of the posts on the 3.20 T.B.I.B. thread as refresher on characters and tone of series end.
I think our ideas on that thread of dark B / dark V and Spuffy / LoVe played out for the movie. Vlad's comments on unlikelihood of long-term Piz relationship hit it right on the money. Does RT read s3?

Dianthus, agree about "embracing one's inner darkness" or not trying to turn oneself into something one is not. I can't imagine V living a dull life of filing legal briefs and quiet evenings with Piz. It is telling that V sanitized her PI experience for her interview, hiding her true self.
P.S. Dianthus, my #$&*^?@ autocomplete inserts Travolta names I have to fight it to fix. I won't tell you what yours became. ;-)

I didn't think Piz and Veronica had been together the whole time - but still found it surprising they would be together at all.
I liked Logan in the dress whites. And I loved all the little jokes and references. Michelle and I both noticed that Logan's face was looking leaner . . . though really, his body did not look noticeably skinnier.
I stopped reading the BtVS comics long ago. I just couldn't get into it. Every once in awhile I will see if I can find some summaries online, so I knew that Buffy and Spike had gotten back together for awhile. That interested me, but I just, literally, cannot follow the comics. There is something about the presentation that makes me lose the thread of the story.

Does RT read s3? Yes, I agree with you and Diane about V's dark side, etc.
Does RT read S3? I remember that he was aware of it - I forget who it was . . . Patti maybe, who sent him some info early on or something . . . someone got some kind of response from him, maybe? I don't know why at this late date, but I remember thinking he might have looked at some of our review/analyses, at least in the beginning.
Did you notice the reference to Rob Thomas (the musician) in the movie?
Other things I remember - Logan mentioning their "epic" love, something he said to her in an episode as well. Logan telling her he would take her "the long way home" also very similar to something he said to her when they first got together "I'll take you home by the back streets." Michelle noticed Kristin's husband Dax, was playing the part of the gross guy dancing and trying to come on to her at the reunion.
I know there were other things, but those come to mind off the top of my head.

LeftyLady, your bit about the Travolta names made me LOL! thanks for that.
Spring, sorry I misunderstood. I think her being with Piz is a bit nostalgic, maybe? Goes with the high-powered attorney/normal life thing Veronica wants to give her Dad? Definitely not her long-haul guy. I gave up on the commix for a long time. It'S not really my medium. It takes me five minutes to get thru' one, and then I gotta wait a whole month (or longer) for the next installment? No thanks. OTOH, I do know why I went back to reading them: Spike. You're shocked, I know. They've reintroduced him, but as for them getting back together for reals, that remains to be seen. What interests me is the next step in his evolution. I'm hoping he'll be something like the first Slayer with dangly bits (not that I haven't read fanfics with that very theme already). I don't think they'd make him human again, since they already passed up one chance at that, and they kinda crapped all over the Higher Being concept with Cordy in AtS s4. I just don't know where else they could go with it. The biggest disappointment for me is they seem to be covering old groun. It's like, buffy accepted Spike into the group in s5, and accepted him into her heart in s7, and now...maybe she'll finally accept him into her life? If he changes yet again. I dunno. They maybe setting us up for another Normal Buffy vs. Slayer Buffy thing, ala Riley vs Spike in s5. Time will tell.

You're shocked, I know. Yes, shocking! They did get back together, as in start sleeping together again for awhile, didn't they? I didn't read any of them, but I thought I saw that in some quick summary I read awhile back or something. But in saying "for reals," I suppose you mean more "true lasting love." I'm guessing that will forever "remain to be seen." I don't think he's ever going to be a Slayer. And I agree it's too late to go with human, and I can't imagine higher being . . . but to tell the truth, I'd be happy with "the best Spike he can be." Ugh - I do get that realizations and changes take time in people, but it is a story, not real life, and you don't want to bore the audience. The same old "dark Buffy/light Buffy" stuff, as it relates to her relationships, is really old stuff. I hope you're wrong about a repeat of the Riley vs Spike thing.
