Hi all! Change is good, so they say. Not a fan usually. But I have to admit that some of the changes have been good. I've been doing a lot of sewing since I retired. Now I've discovered that I really like making Victorian underpinnings. I'm making a bustle right now. Several people have exhibited an interest in them. I need to make myself a new corset and one more petticoat (because I want to try an experiment making a double). I also want to try my hand at a few outer garments. Maybe next year I might do something like opening an Etsy shop. Comicpalooza is coming up and Bob and I have been invited to go to San Antonio to do some photoshoots as the Queen and Mr Brown. Those are really good changes.

100°, 8% rh. In the patio. In the shade. I had to go out this afternoon, and the car thermometer hit 107°. There are wildfires all over So Cal, but fortunately none near us. Ratbag's town is kind of surrounded, but they're 6-7 miles away from any of the fire areas and not getting any smoke, according to my BiL. We should check in with Paul's brother who lives in Encinitas, too. I keep forgetting things. I think my brain has melted. Stay safe, S'cubies, it looks like the weather is frightful everywhere.

Those are really good changes. Woot!, as the kids say. I am vicariously happy for you and Bob, and I hope there will be photos. Where are you getting your creative energy, and can I have some, please? I've decided to try to finish the one project that needs the sewing machine, so I can clear all that up as soon as possible - altering a tiered costume peasant skirt so it'll fit over my horrible fat tum again. I took the top tier off, and I'm going to replace it with one that's big enough to go round more comfortably. The peasant blouse will cover the worst of it anyway. If I can get it all done by next week, I'll be able to concentrate on the online class that starts Tuesday - it's just little embellished felt hearts, but I'm looking forward to something silly and fun for a change.

People are still writing articles about Angel, or Spike!
This article has some new comments from JM about SMG's preference for Angel:
www.buzzfeed.com/jarettwieselman/james-marsters-will-be-team-spike-for-all-of-eternity
The article is written as if he's commented on a recently expressed preference on a tweet, but I know she's said this before. The article also makes it sound like this was big and important news to fandom.
Anyhow, it's fun to see that the fires still burn.

Biopsies all came back "inflammation, no sign of cancer." I was supposed to call in and set up an appointment today, but it took me four or five tries and nearly an hour (cumulative) on hold to order my contact lenses (because seeing, and because I don't own glasses I can wear outside in daytime nor walk down stairs safely with) so I think I'll do it tomorrow.
Nice warm day so I have a roast in the Weber and am getting a hundred feet of extra walking every time I need to check it. I really wish I had the prescribed number of doors here.
Julia, also, I got knocked around in the bread aisle last night by obnoxious bros about 0 years too old to be told the grocery store is not a playground, and I ache.

A pox upon obnoxious market bros, I brandish Mr Bolty in their direction. Emily saw a male bluebird chasing a squirrel this morning. Apparently the squirrel got a little too close to the nest box. Ah, nature.

i need a hug. my mom is, according to her caregiver, very upset and not eating her breakfast. it's like everybody is waiting for me to swoop in and fix things so she doesn't have to leave her house. i can't fix it. if i could, i would.
i've been fighting the urge to cry, all morning, because if i start, i won't stop, and it won't help anyway.

Sorry to be so long gone.
Was up at my sister's for her 7th (and last) chemo treatment. She starts 7 full weeks (M-F) of radiation on May 27. NOT fun. And she's in PT for the numbness and tingling in her fingers and toes. Did I report on my trip already? And the 2 (super minor but annoying) insurance claimes on my car? Window fixed. insurance paid other claim also but we might not bother and just keep the money.
And I'm off again on Thursday so you won't hear much from me for another week or two. Back to Chicago. Birthdays for Gus (nephew), Blaine (SIL, who is spending a MONTH in LA working on pilot ideas for NBC), Tom, and Allison (although won't see her until she comes to Nashville in June) and Gus' H.S. graduation.
So gifts, travel, parties, holiday, more travel.
Then I hope to re-establish some type of exercise program (just as it gets HOT).
Best to all of you.
(Karen, what gives?)
