I liked this one. I was at a convention and skipped the costume competition and start of the party so I could see the episode, but since it was a Doctor Who convention so did most other people I think. But I'm glad I wasn't grumpy at it, and it seemed fun. I haven't rewatched it or written a review or anything, and vaguely fear noticing things to make annoyance. I still don't like this Doctor, but his bad behaviour is being pointed out, and he's successfully rescued someone by risking himself, so that's a little bit better.
I definitely do not like the whole thread of hating someone means secretly you like them. That's just abuse logic. That's not how humans work. You can be angry at someone for doing bad things and then just stop talking to them. I'm kind of wishing Clara had left him, if she thinks he's doing bad things.
Also this comparing travel with the Doctor to an addiction is a problem. I mean, they're going around saving lives on scales large and small. Is police or ambulance work an addiction? It's only the expectation it'll be fun holidays that makes it weird.
I hope they're going somewhere with all these soldiers that don't know the war is over. If it's a theme it might connect to why the Doctor hasn't gone home or tried to or even mentioned the possibility yet.
