Dev,
A nice review. You hit the "existential nut" of the plot and brought up some not touched on open questions, such as what will Angel tell the FG about Cordy, and Angel still not having a connection to TPTB. It will be interesting to see if the kiss Cordy gave Angel will result in a transfering of Doyle's original powers to Angel. And don't sweat, in my short time with the Scoobs, I haven't seen one mean bone in their "existential" body.
Luvs.

Dev, congratulations on an excellent first review! well, it would have been excellent even if it weren't your first. *smile*
You brought out several things that had not occurred to me before- my favorite being your pointing out that Cordy is referring to herself (as the second one) when she speaks of Doyle as being 'first soldier down' - and secondly, I like your take that she made a deal with TPTB - that last helpful trip to see Angel, in exchange for her life. Just exactly the sort of deal those tricksters would make, as we've seen in the past.
I am with you on the Angel/Cordy love story - we are among the few, the brave, the lonely who felt those two kids were right for each other...and I will miss Cordy even more now that I've seen her again.
Thanks again for a great review Dev - you're a fttin' addition to S'cubieville...

Dev, Was that really your first review? You did really well! Well done. I thought that this was a great episode this week. Not quite up there with Damage, but still good. I hadn't realised just how much I have liked Cordy over the years, until it was time to say goodbye. You covered the episode well, Dev - lots of information and well thought out opinions. Lots to think about over the coming weeks. Again Dev, thanks for a great review. Cal

Check out my signature line: Tell me who we kill around here for fun. Come on people. Evil here! eeeeevil. Well, 78 percent, anyway. I have mean bones..lots of them. And Dev, I said it on the announcement and I will say it again. Good review. I too am curious about what Angel tells the rest of the FG. Vlad

Vlad I'm not too sure the FG are even going to ask about Connor. They haven't asked any questions up until now, why would they start? I think that when they hear the name "Connor" they immediately forget it. Kind of like the Ben and Glory mind wipe. Of course, I could be wrong. Dev - just printed out your review and will read it as soon as I get home. It's laid out very nicely - can't wait to read it.

Great job, Dev. You're a lot braver than me. I like to do a review, but I'm a coward. On the whole, who's Connor question, Angel could easily say that Cordy was confused after being in the coma or say that she was actually some evil force, since she "never woke up." I want to see the issue addressed, but there are lots of ways that Angel could avoid it.

He is aware of what quiting W&H would mean with his deal for Conner, as Gunn brought up in their discussion of his quitting, but he seemed to consider it. Especially in light of Cordy's condemnation of the deception.

Excellent review, Dev. I'm still in mourning at the loss of Cordelia. I sobbed at the ending, and I was never a big Angel and Cordelia shipper. But they showed us what might have been, and I feel the loss. When Cordelia referred to Doyle as the "first soldier down", I didn't suspect that she was trying to tell us that she would be the second one. You pointed out that Cordelia is the second soldier down, and that she sacrificed herself for Angel in much the same way that Doyle did. That is such a great insight! It is very fitting that Cordelia die a hero's death. She deserved it and paid the price many times over. Although Cordelia often showed us her vain and snooty side, we often saw her tender and courageous side. Her spirit and her compassion. I'm going to miss her so much, but I had already missed "our Cordelia" for most of last season. Thanks for a great review. Karen

I agree that there are lots of ways to avoid it - but I'm doubting that he'd ever try to make the FG think Cordy was evil. He's got too much respect for her to do that. (And her newly ascended self would have to come and smack him down, and nobody wants that.) I think they're gonna address it, if for no other reason than that Connor's been refererred to at least four times in four seperate episodes, so if they don't want to deal with it, why keep reminding us of it? It's coming.

Great review, Dev!
I've been watching Angel only since October (thank you, TNT), and wasn't a C/A fan, but, like Karen, this episode showed what might have been, and I, too, feel the loss. What a woman! and what a partner she'd have been for Angel - a true equal. (Much as I liked the B/A ship in seasons 1-3 of BtVS, Buffy has always been a schoolgirl in comparison to Angel's "man-ness".)
I never understood the C/A ship until this episode. Watching Cordelia and Angel in action together, as they might have been, was like watching two adult lovers who are partners in every way. So sad they're gone; so glad I got to see them together, if only for a little while.
Also, as soon as Cordy said, "first soldier down", I knew she was going to be the second. Especially so after she said, "I get it now", or words to that effect.
Great episode, and thank you, Dev - a great review.

Nice, nice, job Dev!
Well thought out, well organized, well presented, well-written . . . good stuff all around.
I too had that feeling you had - how great Cordy-Angel could have been if only they'd been given the chance to be together as they were in this ep. I particularly like this insight: "Like Wes’s reason for shooting his dad, Angel references that Connor would have killed Cordy if Angel hadn’t intervened. He tells her he thinks all the time about “what could have been.”
So Dev, let me quote Dru and say: "Do it again! Do it again!"

It's coming. Yes, yes. Something is heading our way in regard to the Connor-decision. My guess is that a vengeful Eve will see to it that the FG finds out about the Connor thing. I think the FG will be upset, but they care enough about Angel to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him explain . . . but they'll want him to un-do it, I think. Maybe. I really hope that we do see it all exposed and coming to a head. Could make for some great storytelling.
