Wesley has his memories back, and he chose reality. yup, important, good thing
I kinda felt like you managed to watch the episode the writers were trying to write rather than the one we actually got. good trick.

Oh Patti! I'm sitting here crying like a baby. Your review said it all. That is exactly how I felt about this episode. Why it felt so wrong to me, even while I was laughing and enjoying watching it. How can we let it go. People think it's all about the 'ships. It isn't. It goes much, much deeper than that. I'm not ready to move on. I don't flippersmackin' want to move on! In two weeks time, we're going to be left with a gaping hole in our lives. An even bigger hole than when Buffy ended. Because this is really the end. The end of the wonderful ride that we have all been lucky enough to be part of. Our lives have been enriched beyond belief by Joss Whedon and the Buffyverse. We found each other because of it. We'll still be here when it's over, won't we? We have to be. And so to the future. Moving on. Yeah. Right. I love you all. Cal

Really really like your review Patti. You hit all the highlights, all the things that made this ep pretty dang funny and sad and scary. The comparison to “Damage” was so obvious, **duh, writers!**, yet I didn’t think of that. Well, um, ok I compared them when discussing opportunities to see some naked Spike flesh……..but that’s neither here nor there. Your comparison of similar plot points was much more to the point – combination of delight and horror, Andrew, news of Buffy alums, and change. I would add one more that your comparison has made me think about. In “Damage” we also got an opinion of Angel and the direction he had taken from an outside opinion – “nobody trusts you anymore”. Our only direct reflection of that was Gunn’s dislike of Angel’s decision from last week, but perhaps it points the way to our remaining two episodes. And you put your finger on my main slight dissatisfaction (and for me, it really was only slight) with the ep – its placement. I’m wanting so much from every single ep we get – perhaps this is unfair to the ME folks. But I’m feeling a little desperate here. So little time, so much to do………And yeah, it’s like Buffy slipped a little more away from us – even though she was already gone. But then again, as your flashbacks remind us, no matter what the boys or Buffy might have said or wanted, she’s never gonna have just an “ordinary” life. Lola

Loved, loved, loved your review. You wrote spot on, girl!
I liked your focus on Buffy Summers as architect: someone who's re-made so many people: Spike, Angel, Willow, Xander, and us.... Because of Buffy, we have made friends, looked at our lives, and, every day, she touches us in some way.
We will never forget her; she will always be in our hearts. And, even though our boys are moving on (but sitting still), she'll always be in theirs.
Great job! Thanks, Patti; your insights are wonderful - as always.

Great review Patti. I especially found myself agreeing with how you saw the episode as it connected with the overall season-series-Jossverse.
As a standalone episode perhaps leading into Season 6(a now-gasp-never to be realized Season 6) I might have enjoyed this very much. An occasional farce can be fun. But with only two episodes to go, and so much rich history and character to explore, I was left unsatisfied, annoyed, unhappy, and angry.
Anyone who thinks I'm moving through the stages of grief, raise their hands.

Patti - I know you were looking forward to reviewing this episode before it aired. It had to have been tough. There was so much funny. I was glad for the funny, but it really didn't have the desired effect of lifting my spirits, and being so close to the end, the timing was off. Maybe someday I can rewatch and really join in the laughter. But I did love the episode. I really did. That's what makes it all the harder to move. I had an Angel/Buffy/Riley moment with your last sentence. It is hard to move on, isn't it? Buffy is gone. And "I don't like him" either.

I still smell a set-up (and yes, before you ask, the pyramids do look lovely from here). Honestly, I didn't hate this ep. nearly as much as I thought I would. I was laughing quite a lot, and rolling my eyes at Angel

That was definitely the moment I was having also.

I was laughing quite a lot, and rolling my eyes at Angel By my third viewing I was laughing a lot, too, especially with the Italian CEO...loved loved loved that character. I expected to love this episode, and ...taken out of time...set alone somewhere, I do.

After reading the board, I definitely know I saw a different episode than a lot of folks did, but that's often true.
