Heh! Yeah, having a rallying cry of "save the cheerleader" is gonna be a hard sell in some quarters. ;D Oh, sweet MoMo - don't give up before you've even started! Except, I do like you looking all soulful and tragic . . . . They just returned the cop? And wiped his memory. Ah - but they couldn't stop his power. Good! Hiro! And buddy of Hiro! So glad you're not dead or badly beat up. Heeee! The Dark Side. And waffles. (I love silly, giggly Hiro. I mean, I love smokin' hot future!Hiro too, but he's just so adorable now.) And of course he's the only one to see fly guy land. ;D The waffles line was killer.

Niki sees herself as two different people - the person on the web and her. So, her power just . . . made that real? Yes! It is Forrest! **gives self high five** It's sweet how Hiro and his buddy make up. I like how they had the non-really-flying brother (I keep getting the brother's names wrong - which one is Peter? Is it the politician or the nurse guy?) able to see and generate the image, but not paint in the same way. Not actually have the artistic talent, just the superhero power. That was a nice touch. But the freaky eyes were, well, freaky. "We have to save her." And we end with the conversation going the opposite way from where we started. Future!Hiro to this guy and back round to current!Hiro. Nice. Yes - I liked this ending even though it wasn't one of those OMG cliffhangers. Very nice bookending of the episode. A friend of mine wrote that Matt acted out "What Women Want" and then he acted out "Earshot". Hee, hee. Perfect description. I found Matt's storyline a little boring - too much time on the pleasuring of the wife but still continue to love, love, love this. But by far the best moment was Nathan's zoom up into the sky and then streaking across and then landing, skidding and Hiro's face. Absolutely awesome. But when did Hiro start speaking even broken english? Has he been jaunting off into the future again for some English lessons? Why will saving Claire save the world? Is it because she can do something that would kill anyone else? Walk through radiation to stop the bomb or something? Hey Spock did that in Wrath of Khan. And why do I keep channeling Star Trek? Out, out of my brain. For a minute I thought Niki's hubby was Minderaser guy. And of course he was in the room after she nervously looked around. Standard horror/thriller moment. But I'm not worried as I'm sure Niki will kick his ass. Um . . . uh sorry Forest. And how are you dude? And what's up with creepy glasses guy and the mind wipe of Mr. McRapey? (clearly I have watched too much GA). Is he evil or not? Because he doesn't seem all that evil yet. Weird and sneaky and something but he hasn't actually killed anyone that we've seen. I really expected him to kill the quarterback. But I love the way they are all interacting now. Sort of. I'm curious how they are going to bring Matt into this group. Is it next Monday yet?

Damn, Hiro is smokin' hot. Damn, she didn't kill the boy and now he can rat her out. And DAMN - he don't just fly - he can FLY! What do you suppose causes the contrail, though? Moisture from the clouds that gets pulled in his wake?

Whoo boy! That's some Superman flying!. Boy Howdy! Loved the flying. One of my favorite moments of the episode. I loved the takeoff, the landing, Hiro's awestruck gazing at him. If it wasn't for the where did Hiro learn to speak English moment in the diner, that would have been perfect. Are we all fanwanking some sort of energy field that keeps his clothing intact while he is breaking the sound barrier? Yeah...same sort of energy field that allows Hiro to carry his clothes and whatever else he feels like with him when he teleports. There's so much suspension of disbelief already that I have no trouble going one step further. ;D

I'm spending way too much time hanging around this den of iniquity... My guess is that Hiro learned to speak English from the internet, like his friend - he can communicate a little, but not well.

As well he should. I'm convinced that Daddy thinks he's one of the good guys. He does not so nice things to be one of the good guys, but that's a pretty common aspect of folks who think they're protecting the world from the forces of evil. What with all the powers our "good guys" are accumulating, there's gonna need to be some serious bad guy powers out there, too. Of course, we already have evidence for that. I really liked the, "What she's going through is very confusing." He knows, and he doesn't seem to want to hurt her. He wants maybe to make her a tool, though - like Mindwipe Man. He probably tells himself that he's recruiting his little girl for The Cause, whatever that is. He's a lot like Mayor Wilkins - he thinks he's doing the right thing, and that the end justifies the means, no matter what the "means" are. I wonder if Claire is going to accidentally undo her dad's mindwipe of quarterback-rapist-boy? This will probably make no sense at all when I wake up... Quoting myself because the discussion's moved on to another page, and I had a thought (no, really?) Now that I'm a little (32%) more awake, it occurred to me that Daddy is worse than Mayor Wilkins - The Mayor knew exactly what he was doing and how evil it was, but Daddy really thinks he's on the side of good. I wonder how long that'll last when the Initiative tells him to collect his little girl for experimentation? I find someone who does evil in the pursuit of good even more scary than someone who is gleefully evil in the first place - The Initiative was created and run by our government, and they thought they were doing the right thing (at least some of them). Mayor Wilkins and Spike, for example, were bad and proud of it.

I'm pretty sure the reason we got for Superman's costume not being shredded when bullets fly off him or he goes through a fireball was something similar--that his invulnerability extended a millimeter or two beyond his body, like the heat you can feel your body giving off when you hold your hand just above your skin. And there's a character in the Marvel universe by the name of Cannonball, who can not only fly at great speeds but go through solid objects the same way as his namesake--when he was using his power he generated an energy field that protected him from being killed upon impacting with, say, a brick wall at 100 m.p.h.

Well, he's shown some minor ability to understand English all along. He knew the newpaper vendor wanted to be paid. He read the address of the painter/comic book writer and was able to get there. He put his hands up for the cops (maybe that was normal reaction.) Anyway, I don't think the English came totally out of the blue but it does seem clear that it was an excuse for bringing along his buddy since he's now made the phone call himself.

There's evidence, though, that even though he's a bit of a gray hat, he doesn't just think all not-my-daughter folks are tools or evil, too. He did something to Matt, sure, and then wiped the memories of it...but he also took just the recent stuff and left the rest alone, and returned him to his life. He could have had him killed or wiped out his entire memory and dropped him in the desert.

Huh. I just took a look at the blog of Heroes director/producer Greg Beeman, and he posted something indicating Niki's alter ego has her own name. Curiouser and curiouser...

Are we all fanwanking some sort of energy field that keeps his clothing intact while he is breaking the sound barrier? It's the shockwave of the air bouncing off his bullet-like head: leaves a calm wake behind him. That, and "naked congressional cantidate walks into a diner" was just too much entertaining oddness, whereas having his pjs on was just about the right level of weirdity. Hiro was, so far as I could tell, sticking with first-year language student phrases, and comic-book phrases he'd naturally pick up being a sci-fi geek. A couple of semesters of a foreign language, particularly one as difficult as English, is enough to get by, IF you can choose your words carefully, and don't have to express complex nuances. PresentHiro is about at that level: can say "Hello, my name is" but gets lost after things get too complex. FutureHiro is perfectly freakin' idiomatically fluent, without accent. (he fanwanked)

She probably will. However, I suspect that D.L. (formerly known as Forrest) will turn out not to be the bad guy that Niki thinks he is. Micah seems to think so. And strikes me as being a little more mature than his mother.

And strikes me as being a little more mature than his mother. In some ways, I absolutely agree--he does have a better perspective on things than Niki. However, he's also a little boy who's going to tend to believe his father can do no wrong until he actually sees his father... well, do something wrong. I also agree that D.L. will most likely end up being a better guy than Niki gives him credit for; in fact, I've wondered for a while whether Niki's alter ego didn't commit the murders D.L. was arrested for.
