Oh, whew!!!! Hiro and Ando jumped away. **wipes brow** Ah, but only a bit away. So now, does he follow the comic or follow Ando's advice? DL and Jessica see Linderman's big board of info. Interesting. So, DL thought they were the only people with special powers? He's mad - thinks Linderman was "directing" their lives. Well, he's likely right. And right to be angry. (And frankly, I want to know just how directed things have been. 'Cuz I suspect a bit of a breeding program.) Also, DL knows that this is Jessica, 'cuz he says "Nickie's" info, when they see it on the big board. But she's right there, so he must know he's not talking to her. So to speak. Ah, pretty pretty pretty Dr Suresh. "You can't stop the boogieman, he looks into your soul and eats you". Damn, she's pretty perceptive and not as . . . traumatised as I would have expected. Ah, her power is to "find" people. I still wonder if she has the same power that Mohinder's sister did. "You're much better at this." I think she just meant better at taking blood. Nathan being told about Ted. I do like that more info is being shared, finally. I gotta think that the more info people have the more likely they are to figure things out and fix them. Although, that could also go horribly horribly wrong. Heee! Claire is so cute, all ducked head and "You can fly? Cool!" Everytime Nathan tries to say something nice to Claire, I get creeped out. I can't decide if it's just the music or if we're meant to be creeped out. And of course, he calls Linderman. Which means they'll be trying even harder to find Ted, which means finding Matt and HRG . . . . Yeah, like this can't go wrong. Sylar went to see mom and they did follow him. I'm soooo nervous about this!!!

Young Sylar in a snow globe. Well. That's just cute and icky all together. "If I stay, maybe I could stop." Ooooh, the whole blowing up thing really scared him, didn't it? "Maybe I don't have to be special." She's all typical mom, "you can be President". Oy!! Very intriguing compared and intercut conversations. * Nathan and the Paper Co/Linderman guy: "You're nervous." "Nervous? You want to blow up half of New York!" "Yes, we do." * Peter and Claire. "You're scared." "Yeah. I am. I'm terrified. I need to find a nuclear man and I don't know if I can contain all that power." She suggests running and he responds "if we save ourselves. who's gonna same everyone else?" * Nathan and PCL guy: "Why are you asking me to make this sacrifice?" "For the best reasons." * P & C: He want her to trust, like he trusts Nathan ("he's my brother") and she takes off. Micah tries to run (yay, Michah!) and icky scary chameleon woman does a very creepy illusion to make him think he is, but he's not and then threatens him. I don't like her. And the cartoon shark opening its jaws right behind him was the perfect, and unfun, image. Ah, Sylar first wants to know if it's OK to be special if that means hurting people (um NO!) and then is going to show mommy how he is special. By turning the apartment into a big ol' snow globe for her. I like how it is pretty and wonderful at first (even Hiro is charmed) and then goes pear shaped. Sylar can't keep anything he does from warping.

So that's why Sylar is so frakked up. Same as it ever was. "No! you can't quit now! I still need Oregon!" Huh. So Walker wants to blow up half the freaking city? And Nathan's going along with him? So, Micah, you know that's not your momma. so run for it. GOOD boy! The HELL?! Oh. Candice's power is much more like Iris than we thought before. Other illusions. </Xanth reference> Very very scary power. Even moreso than what I thought before. I mean, how can anyone ever know what reality is? She could keep someone in her own little imaginary world. Yup.

i read it the exact same way you did, lola. i think he was genuinely trying to reach out and genuinely wondering why he would do something that to him seemed so incomprehensible. i thought it was really telling about his worldview and his personality. Oh, I "get" what you are both saying, and pretty much agree with you. But I just have this disinclination to trust anything whatsoever that he says. Just 'cause. Oh, I don't trust him at all at all. He's a whacko-loon and mean as a snake, through and through.

Mohinder's frustrated, Molly thinks she's gonna die. So, if she can find things, can she find her cure? **sigh** I wanna be Molly and get Momo to wink at me like that. Ahem. Maybe the star really will protect him. At least, he seems to have gotten an idea. Sylar saying he's sorry to mom. Hiro perceptively saying "he's so sad". Ando perceptively saying "kill him". ;D He can't kill a man who is asking for forgiveness. "I'm not future!Hiro, I don't want to be him." Well, yes. That is the future you are trying to prevent, so you don't become like him. It's a catch-22, it is indeed. To not become future!Hiro, who has forgotten that it should be hard to kill, he has to kill. Another intriguing comparison. Hiro and Ando, talking outside the apartment about whether it is right to kill this guy who has killed so many and will go on to kill more. And Sylar inside, telling mom he is the same guy and her not buying it at all. And ending up dead. But, he is the same guy, inside his head. He's just gotten excessive power so that he can take all that ickiness inside his head and make it much more of a reality than he'd ever have been able to do as plain old Gabriel. Hiro! Stopping time! Either his power flagged (too much jumping, so he can't hold it?) or else Sylar is able to push it away. "I must stop you." "Then do it! Kill me! You coward." So, he wants someone to stop him. Someone else to have to take the responsibility of making sure he doesn't kill. Like those people who do something horrible and then make the cops shoot them. Which makes Sylar the coward, really. Jump away, Hiro and Ando! Jump!!!! (Whew! Way too much Hiro and Ando in danger in this ep for my poor heart.)

Can she find lost THINGS too? Heee! That's what I wondered too. It's such an intriguing dilemna. How does he prevent the future without becoming it, at least a little? Cool! So, you think time restarted again too? I hope that Sylar doesn't have a way around it! ;D ;D ;D As Spike learned, the hard way.

Mohinder did figure it out. Ah, he was the cure! They had him to hopefully create the antibodies his sister needed. He was just born too late. Sword is broken. Hmmmm. I don't totally believe all his power is in the sword anyway. Or necessarily this sword. Peter wants Claire to shoot him, if he starts to blow up. Interesting solution. "Someone's gonna blow up. Me or Ted, doesn't really matter." I can't decide if this "doesn't matter who" thing is a good point or a totally wrong point. Momma Petrelli. You scare me, momma P. Linderman called her. (Of course he did.) And it's "natural to feel ambivalent" about nuking a city. (Gee, that's big of you to let your son feel a little oogy about it.) Nathan gets to find out just how scary his mom is - learn how she was in on things with Linderman - part of the "big plan" to nuke NYC for a better tomorrow. "Important men make impossible decisions." Oh, and his "one weakness" is that he has no faith in the idea of destiny? Um. I would have said his one weakness is his lack of ethical center, myself. People will look back and thank you. Um. No, I really don't think they will. Even, if in some wacky bizarroland future, this plan really does somehow end up with a "better" world afterwards? No one is gonna thank the guy who set an explosion like that in motion. They're gonna praise the people who managed to fix things after the disaster, but not the guy who did it. And their "better world" doesn't probably match my ideas anyway. Nathan feels so trapped now. And he is. But it's a trap he helped build and put himself into. "That's my boy." Just as creepy as when TFE said something very similar while looking like Buffy to Spike in the alley. OK, that's just plain tacky. Painting pictures with mom's blood. "I want to be special. I can be President." Ewww ewww ewww eewww!! Claire giving up the dream of being "normal". Well, it wasn't a very realistic dream now, was it? Plus, what is "normal" anyhoo? Oh, wow. They run into Matt and Ted and HRG and Peter starts glowing already. Huh. That was waaaaaaay faster than I had been thinking! We've got, what, two more shows? Damn. There's still so much that's gonna happen!!!

CRAP! katana's broken!!!! Time to go back in time for an intensive sixteen months of guitar training, Bill. and find the swordmaster who made your weapon and get him to reforge it. and become a legendary Nipponese hero. Claire with a gun. Evil Mommy! Crap, but she IS eeeevil! Oh so very drink the kool aid evil. That's actually a very apt comparison, isn't it? Very creepy. Lot's o' mom creepiness in this ep. Makes a change from all the daddy issue shows, though, doesn't it? It really took me by surpise to have them just meet up like that, bam!

Well, this is the Evil Mothers' Episode - and airs six days before Mother's Day. Do you think that was intended?
We have three pairs of Mothers and Sons - Nathan and Mother Petrelli, Sylar and Mother Sylar, Micah and Faux-Nikki.
The issues of special sons and their mothers' way of dealing with their sons' unusual talents comes out here:
Mother Petrelli is the bigtime manipulator, playing for a destiny of power in a game that has probably gone on for a time longer than her son has been aware of it, and using her son as a pawn to gain that power. She wants him to be President, she plans for him to be President, that his great future will be accomplished by the deaths of millions of people doesn't seem to bother her at all. She has one weakness, or seems to; and that is Claire; she's not handing her grand-daughter over to the wolves she works with, she's trying to send her out of harm's way; at least I think so.
Nathan is still wrestling with the awful price that has been arranged for him to pay to achieve that very special position of President. Will he overcome the Dark Side, or join it?
And does Mother Petrelli know that Lindermann tried to kill Nathan and succeeded in paralyzing Nathan's wife? Or did she approve the strike?
We see, in the reunion of Sylar and his mother, the origin of his drive to be special. Gabriel had evidently been content, at one time, to be quietly excellent in a quiet occupation. It seems to be his mother's idea that he must go for power and riches, that he could be "anyone", investment banker or President. Yet she cannot handle what is truly special about Sylar, his talent; instead of trying to help him, she rejects him as a demon, and thus they are both lost, herself to death and Sylar to monstrosity and (hopefully) death before he can cause much more harm.
The third pairing of Son and Mother is the oddest, since there are actually three Mothers to one Son here. Micah has been apparently given to a man he dislikes and might sense is evil, by his own mother, because Micah, like the other two Sons influenced by their mothers in this episodes, is Special. Micah is a child, and wants to please his mother, so he stays, but he seems to know that something is very wrong here. He makes a run for it; I personally think he still believed it was his mother, or one of his mothers (either Nicki or Jessica); hence the apology, when he bolted. But he was betrayed by his pseudo-Mother, and is still a captive. But unlike the other Mothers seen tonight, Micah is pursued by his true Mother and father, who want to save him from evil, not throw him into it (like Mother Petrelli) or abandon him to it (Mother Sylar's reaction). And Micah has two Mothers - Nicki and Jessica; and both of them love him and will do their best to save him. I'm wondering if they might even merge into one personality.
Just why did Lindermann shadow D.L and Jessica and, it's hinted, connive at Micah's creation? I'm getting a horrible idea; though I could be wrong, that Micah is the intended Mutant Poster Child for Lindermann's post-Armaggedon plans; though whether those plans brought about the genoicide that Five-Year-Future Sylar and Parkman planned, or Lindermann would prefer to exploit mutants rather than kill them, I have no idea.

Hi, everyone! *waves*
Just popping in to share my wild and crazy theory for the finale that emerged after seeing tonight's show and the clips for next week.
The whole "exploding man" thing? Total mislead. "The bomb" is literally a bomb (or some other type of electric machine or chain reaction) and Linderman is going to use Micah as the trigger.

"Her nucleotides are degrading?" Are they kidding me with this? Those were red blood cells, which, incidentally, are the only living cell in the human body that HAS NO DNA. Even if you could see degrading nucleotides in a non-EM image.
Meanwhile, Hiro? Not so bright, maybe....

Hmm; that's a good theory, Sunset. And it would explain that painting, Micah being the unwitting instigator of the conflagration. Doubtless the plan would include his death to prevent him from talking. But I think either D.L. or Jessica/Niki will save their son; possibly at the cost of one of their lives.
