wow. HRG shown to be fully conscious of the ramifications of his choices. powerful stuff. I think it is not the first time he's done this. The love he feels for Claire had changed him for a time, but just like Kensei, he resorted to type when feeling threatened or angry. I don't feel that West was being evil when he encouraged Claire to get rid of the evil cheerleader (and she was a bitch - worse than Cordelia ever was). Claire didn't need much of a push to do it. In fact, the only reason she held back on the first day of school was because of her father's warning. Then the HRG call, and all bets were off. Claire resorted to type, too. West encouraged her, yeah, but I think she would've gotten there on her own eventually. And the way West planned it, no one was the wiser - which is better than Claire going all nutso on the chick. True! I guess I'm less worried about her actual actions and more the possibility of going all "we special folks don't have to care about the non-special folks". Which would be very opposite to her initial urges to use powers in good ways. Like saving firefighters and stuff. Granted, I'm probably getting all jump the gun-y and she isn't heading that way at all.

Yikes. Nobody likes a line. All that standing around, waiting... Wait, unless it's one of those ones in the sand... Heh. Some like those kind of lines, and some don't. Some people need to cross those lines, and some won't. Every day there is a frickin' line. ;D and

Could the evacuation order for NYC in Peter's jump into the future, and the 93% of the population being dead in the preview, have something to do with Maya's little habit of unleashing the plague? maybe the Company tries to inject maya and/or alejandro and it causes the mutation that momo was worried about! that would be a neat twist, regardless of whether it's what actually happens. ;D Ooooh, combo story! Actually, you're right. That would be cool. Or maybe Maya ends up being the solution to the mutation of the vaccine? **head starts spinning** ;D

Random musings: Peter and Sylar are polar opposites - Peter has no memories, but can access his powers; Sylar has memories, but no powers. Noah Bennet has really crossed back over to the Dark Side. He's still hot. Claire is drifting that way as well; I think West is a Bad Hat and he's leading her astray. Poor Hiro finally gets to kiss the girl of his dreams, and he breaks history again. "But all I did was kiss the girl!" </ Brothers O'Toole> In the last scene? I think it's the Company's "vaccine". Dr. Momo was afraid it'd mutate into the general population, and maybe that's what happened - Bob shot one of his lab rats up and turned him or her loose. Oh, dear, I hope it wasn't Monica, because the scene of her being returned to NO with Company goodie bag was a little too cute... P.S. Is it just me, or does this season feel like recycled S1? We have a new cute teenager with superpowers (Monica), a hopeless romance that's bound to end badly (Hiro, again), and New York gets destroyed. Again. It's very much like S1, only instead of just 7% of New York getting destroyed, this time, 93% (actually, of the world, not only NY) gets destroyed. Maybe it would've been better not to have messed with Linderman's plans in the first place. Another thought I had was that "Adam" might be Kensei. That would fall into the theory that he was the original 'hero'.

Teaser
Oooh, chapter title reveal of The Line, with the line of police tape across it. Very nice.
Peter's going to Montreal.
How does Caitlin know it's a she who killed DeadThug?
Claire trying out for Cheerleading. Head cheerleader is bitchy, but Sidekick Cheerleader likes Claire.
extra-ordinary. Does Head Cheerleader even know what she's saying?
Monica learning gymnastics. See, the thing about her power is that she can replicate anything exactly if she's seen it, but can she extrapolate and take the skills she's learned and mix them up into something new, like the way the normal learning process works?
Suresh took Monica to New York. What about her family and her job and everything? And what about Micah? Did Suresh not know that he was also there?
An anti-power virus.
The greater good.
Suresh, my god man, why are you surprised that the Paper Company is up to no good?
Odessa.
Daddy Bennett also speaks Russian. Because he's Daddy Bennett.

Part I
West has got the superiority complex going on. Ominous.
Finally near the US Border.
Sylar creepily talks to Maya.
Sylar reminiscing about the good old days.
Maya is really being objectified in this scene. And is she really that naive? How could she miss how creepy Sylar is?
About how to cross the border.
The missing text on Hiro's scrolls.
Oh, hey it's that guy.
Daddy Bennett interrogates his friend. His friend who has the painting.
Ah, this is Daddy Bennett's mentor.
Memory wiping is a "new trick" of the Man With No Name?
Threatening to take his memories can be effective, but how does actually taking his memories help? Cause this guy's not going to know what he doesn't remember.

Part IV
Kakeo realizes that she's in love with Hiro, not Kensei.
Aw, come on Hrio. Just kiss her. Yay!!!
But Kensei sees. Is he really in love with Kakeo? I didn't think so.
It was the kiss that fractured time. It changed me Hiro. Wait... that's it? Dammit, don't end on a cliff hanger!
Maya's choice.
Salvation.
Sylar talks to Alejandro.
Maya as a shiny new toy. Ugh.
Definite parallels between West and Sylar. Power without restraint. Leading others into temptation.
Head Cheerleader gets suspended; Claire is on the team.
The Liquid Man.
Whoa! Daddy Bennett shoots in cold blood. So... why is he even doing what he's doing anymore. This can't just be for Claire's sake. Also, why does the Man With No Name keep going along with it?

Coda
Kensei is pouty.
Kensei does love Kakeo.
Friendship and betrayal. Kensei goes to the other side.
Monica returns home with a cover story.
Support, advice, and now gifts. You're like my own personal Oprah. BWAH!
Suresh and Nikki. Or is it Jessica? As partners.
The paintings.
Montreal. Oh, the Symbol above the door. So is this a secret society or something?
Adam [Something] again. A new player or have we seen him before?
Peter and Caitlin jumped forward in time borrowing Hiro's powers. to Futurpocalypse. June 14, 2008. Which still happens.
Shouldn't they be a little more surprised about jumping forward in time?

A lot about trust in this episode. In fact, I almost felt like I was getting hit over the head with it.
Also, the time seemed to go really quickly.

I was wondering if anyone else would express discontent with the recycling of plot. Let's see...jump forward in time. New York destroyed. Really bad future. Terrible thing. Must put a stop to it. And now they spend the remaining short season trying to save the future. Again? Bored now. Between this plot (which could still go somewhere interesting, but will remain derivative of only ONE FRIGGIN' SEASON AGO) and Sylar and Claire...it's all smacking of a lack of creativity. Is it possible Tim Kring only has one story in him, a la David Eddings?

I don't know about Erin, as she's the one reviewing this particular episode, but I already had every intention of mentioning the extreme similarities when I discuss episode 7.
