See, here's the deal: I've taken the fatal step of seeking out McShep fic instead of just reading it passively as it crosses my flist. There's a lot of SGA and SG-1 fic out there, and I'm barely scratching the surface. In addition, other shows where we have discussion and reviews have active fanfic communities. Dr. Who, Lost, and Veronica Mars all show up on my flist (Rae has written VM, for instance), although I rarely read them (I read much less now than I have in the past, largely because of actually doing a bunch of other stuff in 3-D). There's a BSG thread now; do we need threads for other shows? Threads for "other shows", perhaps divided by slash and het/gen? Or is it so easy to find fic in current show fandoms that it's not necessary to have the resource of recommendations here? I'm speaking out of guilt, a little- I spent the evening reading a Lamardeuse McShep series which, if it was one of her TS fics, say, I'd recommend with enthusiasm. But there's nowhere to put it, and I'm not sure that the Stargate folks need to be led to Lamardeuse, who is one of the biggest of multi-fandom Big Name Fans. So, yeah: not trying to make Rachael more work, just testing the waters... Julia, all evily envious of Lamardeuse's ability to put really good words out, over many years I'm happy to make any threads you all want - we have threads for shows that are barely used, and there's no reason to not add threads for Stargate, Doctor Who, and the rest. If there aren't any strenuous objections in the next few days, I'll just go do it.

Personally, I'd have no objection to Jossverse and simply "Other" threads (since I really don't read outside of Buffy/Angel) but I'm assuming there is a larger public out there who may want VM fic and not want to have to scroll thru recs for Sentinel or other. I do think that the "secondary" shows (secondary to Buffy or Angel) need only one thread each to cover gen, slash, completed and WIP as all that stuff can easily be noted in the rec. Thanks Rachael.

Julia, my own little OCDish need for symmetry might come into play, also

Better way late than never.
We now have threads for Stargate (of any flavor) and Doctor Who.
VM and BSG threads already exist; if there's a need (or want) for, say, a thread for Heroes, or any other show, just let me know.

And, on the "make MORE work for Rachael" docket, a question:
I've been reading thru some of my favorite authors. Mostly just their LJ memories pages, sometimes website.
I know I could just re-rec them on the fanfic page but wondered whether anyone else might like the idea of of an "Recommended Authors" page with links to memories and websites rather than particular stories?
I know nearly all of the recs would be redundant to previous recs elsewhere but since the rate of new fiction has slowed down I'd love to have most recent recs of where to find "classic" stories.
Plus, there seem to be a few new, but little known, authors popping up at places like Seasonal Spuffy.
What do the rest of you think?

Answering myself (thinking outloud) or should I just use the "Archives and Communities Thread?" Just thinking that our favorite authors maybe deserve specific recognition?

Thanks- I've dumped a time-eating time bomb on the Star Gate thread already, and will TRY to get more recs up everywhere soon, but I'm burning a whole lot of energy not freaking out all the time. Julia, sucks to be me, sorry

OK, folks, is this a clear enough warning that we won't have any incidents?
THIS FIC CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR EPISODES NOT YET AIRED IN THE US
SciFi is doing it again- new Stargate episodes won't air here until April, and they're airing now in Britain. This means fic writers who either live over there or download episodes are writing fic, and I'm seriously not organized enough to put aside a stash of fic and then recommend it in four months.
So, is that a big enough warning, or do I need to use invisitext or something?
Julia, I so very much hope not...

Well, I don't read Stargate fic, but still I'd say that kind of warning is perfectly adequate.

Just to let you all know that my daughter goes into hospital on February 12th, so I'm not going to be able to post any fic recs over the next couple of months. She actually starts preparing for surgery next week, so my online time is going to be very limited from now until she goes back to school. The fics I've been following are still all being updated, so please feel free to take over the updates if you want to.

Anybody know what's up with the archive at the-crypt.net?
I keep getting "cannot find server". Is it just me? (Sometimes my computer is funky). It's been down for a few days now.
Sometimes I just find it easier to keep up there than find go to individual LJs for a couple of writers.
