Twenty chapters of the best postNFA Spike/Fred(Illyria) fic I've read, by Sockmonkey. "Reentry", up to NC17. I will warn people who are very much Wes shippers that there is a negative but canonically justifiable Wes memory in this fic which may put you off; it is not my preferred Wes but, unlike the stone-crazy and sexually abusive Wes in an NWHepcat W/X fic discussed in the closed slash thread, it is one I'm willing to accept as possible. Reentry, in Memories. Julia, getting caught up, YAY!

Here's Sockmonkey's sequel to the above, "Canis Familiar": www.livejournal.com/users/sockmonkeyhere/In it, Oz's werewolf cousin is kidnapped (sort of) and our new gang, including Spike, Fred, Angel, and Gunn, contrive to rescue and then defend him. ETA: Whoops! It's a WIP! I thought it was complete at 13. It is, nearly--one more chapter (14) should do it. So I'll leave the rec here, with embarrassed blushes.

Nan, I was going to get this posted today but have been fumbling about with my brain feeling as if it were wrapped in wet sraw, so I'm glad you did get it up. Both of these fics are just nice and solid, with well-written OCs and well characterized canon characters; Oz in Canis Familiar is particularly well-drawn. Julia, very long week already

Lady Wenham has finished "The Big Easy." Post NFA, Buffy and Spike are unreconciled to one another, but working together. They get caught by a monster hurricane in an ante-bellum manse in St. Louis. This is the story of the storm and how it affects them both. It's here.

This is Mpreg, and therefore technically slash, but does not involve any actual homoerotic content, and therefore would be lost too too many readers in the slash thread. It is consistent with canon, BtVS s3. Stoney321 gets Mayor Wilkins pregnant and whackiness ensues: www.livejournal.com/users/stoney321/90531.html?view=2510755Julia, surprised me, too.

Heronpose is one of a group of Giles-centric writers who all too infrequently come up with absolutely wonderful stories. This is Giles/Olivia, in the saddest possible way, post NFA, and nearly perfect. "Days in Goodness Spent:" www.livejournal.com/users/heron_pose/15434.htmlJulia, from a recommendation by Headrush100

NWHepcat: Wesley and Cordelia are the ones to steal Conner, and end up in Vancouver BC. Full of paintings by three women (an exhibit I was supposed to go to, and then my friend got sick) and finally full of paintings by Emily Carr, which jazzes me no end. Into the Deep Woods, 15+: www.livejournal.com/users/nwhepcat/434946.html?view=3608578Julia, wanting to go look at Emily Carr paintings RIGHT NOW

One of the most hilarious fics ever. Independence Day by St_Salieri www.livejournal.com/users/st_salieri/123302.html?#cutid1I won't reveal the twist because I don't want to spoil the pleasure - but I wonder at which point you'll figure out what's happening to Spike? And what the hell is happening to Buffy??!!

Actually, it's a series of interrelated slash pieces, all post NFA, by Shadowscast. She calls the story environment "Fragments" and the entire series is at her website: shadowscast.popullus.net/fiction_list.html#BuffyThat this includes an M/M pairing (Spike/Xander) is the least important part of the story. What is important is that it examines the post Chosen/post NFA situation, and the probability that a Shanshed Spike might not be the better for the change in circumstances, in a flawlessly written, convincing, entirely in-character way. Julia, posting the official rec in the slash area.
