One of my absolute favorite SGA genfic writers knocks one out of the park again. Narcissus, by Miss Porcupine shows Rodney from grad school on, getting closer and closer to the moment when he understands his doctoral committee chairman's nostalgia for a time when astrophysics wasn't so practical. Julia, PG, no pairing except McKay/Knowledge, which is not so innocent.

Astrid V makes wonderful SGA comics; Afraid of the Dark Starts with Jennifer Keller asleep in her father's house, dreaming... Gen, PG, Jennifer Keller, Teyla Emmagen, spoilers for "The Seed" (s5). Julia, the drawing and storytelling are both spiffy.

I'm not going to check back to see if I've recommended Whizzy's Black Helicopters Series yet because I foolishly started reading the latest piece, Black Mountainside after 10pm last night, and didn't finish untilwellafter midnight, although to be fair I stopped in the middle because it was time to take my insulin and I needed a shower. The first link goes to a tags page, in, of course, newest-first order, so you need to scroll down and start with "Black Helicopters at Dawn," where Rodney McKay is living in an old satellite station in far northern BC and hears a transmission on a band he's monitoring to prove that aliens exist. The story starts with a mystery and develops through several episodes of an SG1 based AU where John Sheppard's ATA gene is discovered much earlier than in canon. Nice, tight writing, convincing emotional development, PG-13, and sufficient to keep one occupied through a whole hot summer weekend. Julia, McShep UST without as yet any move to make it more, after a couple of hundred thousand words.

SGA /Bones crossover: Lance Sweet's is just psyched to be in Atlantis, and it's a good thing he's a quick learner. Siriaeve, Wrap Me in Paper Sweets. Sheppard, and John should be made aware this boy doesn't ever give up,shouldn't he? 10/11/09 Note: Siriaeve has moved stuff around in her journal; that link goes to another fic in the series, where the Bones team arrives on Atlantis. I'm trying to figure this out, please stand by! Julia, by the end of last season Sweets really was the only main character I liked anymore.

Sherryzade, Coffee at the Gate Angie's coffee is good, but her latest batch of customers sort of confuses her. PG, barely; in-canon, post Series Finale, short and tasty. Julia, I figure she's at the end of a dead-end street off the top of Lombard, in the neighborhood where Mrs. Madrigal used to hang out

Growing up McKay, or Jeanne and her brother didn't get that way by chance: Penknife's Lullabies in a Minor Key, gen, PG, makes you want to give them both a fuzzy blankie and hot chocolate. Julia, just Rodney being like Rodney, it could be individual quirk, but their dynamic suggests otherwise

A mission goes wrong, rainturns to sleet, and after, Rodney has reason to reassess what the worst thing to happen might be Team Spirit by Penknife, Gen, PG for lack of personal space, humor. Julia, and silly, silly, Ronon

I've been on a John/Ronon kick lately and was surprised by how very much I liked this AU. A believable and messed up John, a believable and sweetly complex Ronon, all the characters plopped into other roles and yet still being them. And a nice bit of John/Rodney backstory to make the McShep folks happy too. Lalejandra's The Stargate Atlantis Publishing AUAlso? I note that Julia has recc'd several Penknife stories and I eetah that heartily. Excellent gen, het, and slash. Here's a link to all her SGA tags on LiveJournal.

Pir8fancier is on my friends list because of a long Ray/Ray story she wrote called "A Year, More or Less, In the Life;" that she also writes SGA (as well as HarryPotter, for those who might be looking) makes me very happy. She does wonders making the emotions behind her character's actions life-like and utterly convincing. In Talking Points we have John Sheppard descending into muteness after Rodney tells him he and Keller are engaged. Not talking is less a problem in San Francisco than it would have been in Pegasus, but like mostextreme coping behaviors it's not sustainable over the long run. NC-17 for het heavy petting and John Sheppard's horrific first-time memories. Wrenching growing-up stories are harder to keep away when you can't cover your own thoughts with memories. Julia, possibly triggery, as the saying goes, for what John wrongly calls seduction.

Am cross-posting crossover fics . . . . . LJ's savingfaith333 just finished up an awesome and seriously angsty SPN/SGA crossover fic: Solitary Man. It's slash, Dean/Sheppard. And I'm not kidding--very dark and angsty, but if you can handle that, I highly recommend it. She also wrote another SPN/SGA crossover fic: What Happens in Vegas that is EPICALLY awesome. It's slash, Dean/Castiel and McShep. And nowhere near as dark as Solitary Man, but still has its dark moments. And she has lots other great fics on her LJ, some of which I still have yet to read. She is a solid, dependable, wonderful writer, and she writes HOT PRON, for serious. Also, she keeps saying she plans to write a sequel to What Happens in Vegas, so we have that to look forward to.

Another Pir8fancier fic, to "get it off my hard drive" in what's supposed to be a lj break because she's on deadline. Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't starts off, post "Enemy at the Gate" with Rodney and Jennifer on an idyllic trip down the California coast, and ends up completely elsewhere, by way of revelations of military secrets, unknown personal abilities, and the sheer cussed determination of Rodney McKay, PhD, PhD. eventually McShep, hard R,and any further summary spoils the hell out of what needs to be a suspenseful story. There are few writers I read with more eagerness than this one- Cesperanza, for about the only one, and she's got her plate full with the Organization for Transformative works and vidding and, oh, yeah, pregnant... anyway, this is a great example of her writing, and one of the best stories I've read this year. Julia, and, in it's way, a whole lot of fun, like maybe bungy jumping or free climbing the outside of the ITT triangle or something

Another bit of the Fair Trade verse from Esteefee: A Smarter Tradition; John thinks he needs to get away from Rodney to deal with this, but he can be convinced... Julia, no coffee in this one, which keeps me from jonesing for it.
