Once again I enjoyed your review of this episode, Vlad. As usual, you saw a lot more than I did in viewing it! I appreciated the 'fill in' on the diferent generational outlooks too - it helped put Jaye in context for me I think. You (and ok, the writers ) ask a very interesting question. Are our lives ours to spend as we choose or do we have a responsibiity to use it in some greater purpose. It's not a comfortable question, but it's one of the biggies... I am liking the way this show explores it - and that after only 2 episodes we can see that Jaye is as you say waking up some.
When I watched the episode initially the whole 'identity theft' thing... the concept of having someone else step into your life, as Binky does to Jaye was really disturbing to me - I guess it is to all of us or it wouldn't be explored so often, but I kept having this urge to tell Jaye 'Don't TRUST her!' Anyway, it was just another sign to me that this show is different -it can affect me, and that's a good thing.
Vlad, 'I never Metaphor I didn't Like'...so clever! Just loved it! I have to go back and rewatch now specifically for the clothes stacks...I don't know how you see these things...and the celery and olives...my only thought when seeing Sharon eating those olives was that I wished I had some...
OH! Good catch also on the chameleon! Nice.
Thanks for another gread review! and for the link to the music video!

Terrific review, Vlad. I hadn't even noticed about the hangers--shows you how observant I am... And as a quick FYI--looking at that picture, definitely a bass.

Vlad, your review rocked! I love how you dig out the symbolism/metaphors, and your "things off the cuff" are great!
I was struck how at the end - Jaye, although she did seem to pay a little more attention to the job she fought to get back, she also turned down the invitation to have more interaction with her family. She said earlier: "I enjoy my family time in short, controlled bursts." HA!
I love when Binky told Jaye that her trailer is like her life - that because it's parked it's "never in any danger of living up to its potential, but also in no danger of breaking down."
Because I live with 2 sons, one 19 and the other 21 who have yet to "live up to their potential", I'm finding "Wonderfalls" highly thought-provoking, as well as entertaining.
So, if the chameleon was representing Binky - does that mean that the mounted fish in the bar is suppose to represent the bartender, Eric? Since I just found out about "fish" being VERY symbolic from the S'cubies- I figure it fits.
Oh, and I liked "She's like a Jaye Tyler cover band!"
And "I thought we could take her clubbing."......"What - baby seals?"
And - "Your pale imitation of my ass." (hee, hee - I'm 12!)

Great review, Vlad!! I wasn't going to read it as I haven't seen the episode yet, but I couldn't stop myself. ;D
I almost feel like I have watched it now, thanks to your excellent review. I can't wait until I get the chance to see the whole season!

"He's not the man I love. He's the man of my list!"
"You many be the universe's butt puppet, but I'm its right hand fist of fate!"
Anxiously awaiting the next review.

So, Vlad, are you going to continue reviewing when the DVD comes out on December 7? I was jsut reading the comments here on the thread. Hadn't been in here in a while. As you may know, I really, really loved this show. I hadn't had a series grab me like htis and be so consistantly good for the first 4 episodes...in like forever. The reason the reviews stop at # 2 is that I was having a hard time writing the review for #3 then almost immediately after seeing #4 (I was behind on writing #3) they cancelled the series. I was crushed. I mean. I knew the series might not get renewed or even be cancelled after about 12 eps, but to jsut axe it like that, it jsut took the wind out of my sails. It seems like the last two years have seen the demise now of nearly every series I watch on a regular basis. The only shows left are 24, The Shield and Alias. And 24 and Alias are really losing me. The quality of writing last year just stunk on both. The seams are beginning to really show. The characters are becoming rehashed and even the show's budgets are showing. I am getting tired of all sizzle and no steak. Anyway, the above rant has little to do with Wonderfalls, other than to say that of all the series on TV, only the Whedonverse manage to reinvent themselves and stay interesting. While WF was not technically a Whedonverse show, it felt like it and had some of the same creative background. I had such hopes. So, the short answer to your short question after the long exposition is: yes. When the WF DVD's come out, I plan on buying htem and then continuing on with my reviews. I could do the reviews for #3 and #4 now,but really, with all the other reviews going on right now ( Angelphile, Firefly and Spikecentricity) I would hate to crowd the field and take away the glory from those other fine writings. OKay, what I mean is that I would hate to get lost in the crowd. Plus, it's been such a long time since hte eps aired that many will have forgotten. When the DVDs come out, perhaps we can replace the Firefly viewings (which should be over by then) with WF viewings and my reviews. Sound like a plan? Vlad
