Re-posted from Vlad's:
Fellow S'cubies, what follows is a thread that was especially made today becuase Patti had been missing for a couple days. Being as it was over hte weekend when things slow down no one paid as much attention. It wasn't until this morning, when she missed an important meeting with me to get some work done that I was alerted. After being unable to rouse her on her home phone or cell phone, I checked hte boards and found out she had not posted since the wee hours of Saturday morning.
I won't go into great detail here (you can read below), save to say that Diane *hug* checked her house in Houston and her car and some old mail were still there. Unable to get in past Patti's security on the house, Diane called the police. After what took Diane and a good portion of us S'cubies many hours, finally hte police entered the house at around 9 or 10. Patti was found to have passed away, apparently from natural causes. We managed to contact her brother in Florida only minutes before this was discovered.
What follows this is, in the beginning, a record of the things we did to try and find Patti and make sure she was alright. Then once hte news broke around page 12 or 13, it has become a memorial and eulogy for a friend that deeply touched us all here on the S3. Patti truly loved this site and everythign and person upon it. Perhaps we can find relief in the fact that for the last couple years a truly wonderful retired person managed to find a place she was truly happy and very much needed. In the beginning, she was my chief co-conspirator at making htis something manageable and fun. As time went on she became the hardest worker adn the one that believed in us (and me) the most. I honestly believe, that without her, this place would simply not exist.
Sometimes the hardest thing in this world is living in it. Patti made it easier and more worthwhile for us all. There can be no greater gift than such generosity. Thank you, Patti. I loved you very, very much.
Mitchel... tho' she always, always would call me Vlad
We love you, Patti.
Added by Diane:
Patti's family have made the arrangements.
The service will be at:
Pat H. Foley Funeral Home
1200 W. 34th Street
Houston, Tx 77018
713/869-6261
The service is Saturday, 1PM
There will be no viewing or visitation. The family has opted for cremation with internment after. They are asking for suggestions for Patti's favorite music. Beyond OMWF I had few ideas.
Any suggestions?
